Yesterdays pottering about jobs involved the retrieval of half a dead squirrel from the playground, perusal of a set of mouse traps and much wandering about aimlessly. Washed the windows of the bosses office so that he can now see out. Came home did random bits and pieces outdoors and then tackled the ironing, well some of it anyway.

OH had his day screwed up by the members of Plane Stupid who decided it would be fun to chop a hole in the fence at work and handcuff themselves to the nose wheel of an aeroplane. The more stupid members of the group strategically placed themselves on poles placed in the centre of the road immediately outside the staff carpark. OHs boss couldn't get in, the night shift guys couldn't get out. Needless to say the night shift guys weren't taking this very well. Despite news reports to the contrary his day became somewhat chaotic and today will be spent playing catch-up.

Today sees the final road safety lesson of the year and we're spending it playing in the local park. Wondering if I can get away with eating ice cream and sunbathing without being lynched by 45 small children. Probably not.

Plans for the day should really involve ironing OHs work shirts as the wardrobe is empty but since he only needs one more to complete this shift run I can get away with doing the absolute minimum. Need to do shed loads of housework though as my parents are due on Saturday and the shower is sporting an explosion of black spots thanks to the recent heatwave. Still no idea if OHs brother is coming on Friday. We've been here before. He phones, vaguely suggests something and then doesn't turn up or phones the day before to say something else has come up. Haven't even hinted to the DDs that his appearance is a possibility. They'd be far too disappointed if he was a no-show.

My bank account is looking suspicioulsy healthy, mostly because none of the cheques I've written recently have cleared. Must not lure myself into a false sense of security and embark upon a spending spree although DD1 needs socks. Not sure how in a house with an armchair covered in socks (the dregs of the laundry pile) she can fail to find any that fit her but yesterday mornings sock hunt proved rather futile, I envisage the smae happening again today. perhpas shes eaten them... or stuffed them down the side of the bed in the way that children do because thats the first place mummy would look on a laundry hunt.

Wrote another Dooyoo yesterday. Now just over 10,000 points or 20 reviews off payout ... its dragging along soooo slowly its untrue.

Another day, another mountain of laundry waiting to be washed. The housework merry go round never seems to stop.

Mild panic has set in. OHs bro phoned to say hes arriving on Friday and staying for four days. Need to rearrange a few things to get him to and from the station as OH is working. Also need to do shed loads of tidying in an attempt to house him in DD2s room without risk of injury. Then I need to do even more in order to get DD1s truckle bed out for DD2 to sleep in. The horrors have sooo much tat, most of which is strewn across the floor.

Need to venture forth into civilisation for gog-go juice for the car and food. Have a feeling OHs bro is on a wheat free diet. Or at least he was last time we saw him which could make things even more interesting, hoping OH will find out before I shop.

OHs boss is being even more of a *****er than normal. Having arrived home from a particulalry long day at 7pm he was asked to return to work for midnight. This did not go down particularly well. Hes not expecting to have a particularly good day, especially if his boss hasn't got round to going to bed.

OH is in the most foulest of foul moods. His boss is being the tossiest of all wankity imbeciles. This weeks demands have bypassed idiotic and are now entering lunacy. Of course they're short staffed. Thats what happens when people leave and you don't replace them. I mean admittedly two years without placing a wanted ad. does make it considerably harder but asking your remaining staff to run a 24 hour a day 7 day a week operation when there are only 6 of them doesn't take a genius to figure out its a recipe for disaster. So comes yesterdays phone call.... can OH work his days off starting today. I mean its not like we have plans or anything or OH wants to see his children at any point over the school holiday. Even saying no seems to have fallen on deaf ears. If 6am isn't convenient perhaps he could go in later then. Are all management really this dense? Needless to say the relaxed weekend we had planned does not look like going even vaguely according to plan.

Still the bathroom has been transformed into an oasis of tranqulity. DD2s bedroom is spotless and DD1s floor is strewn with all the precious items turfed out of DD2s room during the terrible twosomes mega tidy. All the ironings done and I've even tackled the sock pile. Kitchen is progressing... slowly. Plans for today extend as far as the master boudoir, DD1s room and Mr Ts with a quick trip to the feed merchant thrown in.

Aaaah... I thought they'd merely reduced the strictness of the filters cos ages ago I attempted to use "canal" in a sentence and that was thrown out for being super duper naughty. Its working in a religious school wots dun it gov. I didn't swear that much until I started bumping into the vicar on a daily basis.

*edited because they allowed that.... tried the word without the c and thats allowed too. Perhaps we dreamt there was a swear filter... or I've gorn and broken it.....

Ps. Hello Helen... hope you're not working too hard! Even on a bad day DD1 barely has time to eat two slices of toast between leaving the drive and arriving in the school carpark. The idea of doing something productive on the journey... apart from last minute spellings in anticipation of the test they forgot to mention ... baffles me.

Anyhow today has the makings of the worst day in the history of the moo household ever. At some point between the DDs waking and departing I need to break the news that their Chinchilla died during the night. Technically he died before they went to sleep but the idea of too upset overtired children didn't appeal so will be getting them up early and "noticing" once they've eaten and are ready to go. Was expecting this so have a coffin (aka a shoe box) in the car. Hopefully I can get them up early enough to get a full burial out of the way without being late for work. Just hope DD1 doesn't insist on writing bidding prayers and a homily like the last time we did this. She even went so far as to invite the neighbours. Thankfully an impromptu service pre 8am should avoid this.

Have shed loads to do today. Mostly houseworky things and trips to the feed merchant. Will also need to get rid of the Chinchilla house which takes up an area of floor space the size of an armchair. But before all that I'm going to see a lady about a few unwanted chickens. 25 or so to be precise. She thought chicken keeping would be nice so bought a few, then a few more, then somehow or other ended up with 20 or so and then hatched lots of chicks and then decided she doesn't want to keep chickens at all. I get the impression there are quite a few more than 25. OH is coming to hold my hand and act as my concience. I really don't need 25 more mobile poo machines in the garden. No idea how much she wants for them which will be the deciding factor as they're not breeds I would go out and choose should I be in the market for hens... which I am but not in that quantity or with the attached guilt trip. So am going to see them because shes only 10 minutes away and it would be daft not to but I will not be coming home with any more than 10 adults. Note the famous last words here. Will go to the feed merchants after that just in case I need to buy chick crumb

So plans for the morning (post caffeine kick) involve a load of laundry, the cleaning of the downstairs bathroom and at least one load of washing up. Tis a good job I woke up super duper early although I'll be a cream crackered moo by the time OHs brother arrives.

Shhhhh I have four new hens and another 8 or so coming over the next few weeks at the super mega bargain basement price of a fiver a head. Couldn't be more chuffed if I tried. Am sharing the karma with a friend who is going to have three of them which should leave me with five hybrids and a whole load of absolutely gorgeous silkies.
