No - some husbands channel their inner Alex Ferguson and play Championship Manager FOR HOURS - and then proceed to give their wives a play by play account of how they took a fictitious team from the Conference to the Premier league;)

I think fake footy would drive me even more nuts than Call of Duty and the other remarkably similar kill 'em alls he plays. At least I no longer have to suffer Kill Zone with its amazingly creative three word soundtrack. Heldeghast.... kill them. Headphones were a v. good investment although the cable apparently affects his ball control (of the mouse) so a pair of wireless headphones are winging their way to us v.v.v. slowly.

Still no word from the owners of the serial killing dog. Found a website which allowed me to do a single search of the electoral role by address for free so now have the correct spellings of their names. Will be drafting a letter tonight threatening small claims court should payment not be made or a payment plan reached soon. Can't believe they're just ignoring it hoping that it will go away. Couldn't give a stuff about the money. Am far more peeved that life is so meaningless to them. Mostly though I'm v. annoyed that the DDs had to see what they saw and imagine what they did and theres nothing to show for it.

Spent what little time I had off yesterday renewing more fencing and increasing the height in other places. Fortunately the hedges will eventually grow to cover it but in increasing the height we also loose some of the light into the garden. Equally miffed that its taking so much time to keep someone elses dog out because they can't be arsed to make sure it stays in.

The official opening ceremony was predictably yawn worthy. 3:45 came and went, slowly followed by 4 and 4:15 eventually at 4:30 we had a five minute speech with a ludicrous amount of gifts for the speech giver... grabbed a slice of cake and escaped pronto. Still I did get paid for spending almost an hour sitting around on my bum. Would rather have been working and left on time though. Will have to deal with the aftermath this morning although not too much as theres something else on tonight.

Inspired by Flying Fresian I checked my Toluna account and discovered I was a few hundred points off payout. Several sponsered surveys later I've claimed my £15 gift voucher. Which takes my Christmas voucher stash to a very healthy £101. Tis a v. nice start to a v. sunny day.

OH and I are going to spend another day doing thangs in the garden, mostly things invloving nettles, chicken wire and death by 1000 cuts. It'll be weeks before my arms and hands look normal. Need to do something with the pond as the four legged fiend has discovered she can swim across it which is v. funny to watch but there are only so many times in a day that I want a soggy doggy to run through the house and equally there are only so many occassions on which DD2 can accidentally throw the puppys tennis ball into the pond. Mummy is not a stupid as DD2 thinks!

Meanwhile in the 35 minutes before the DDs get up I have to concoct a World War 2 evacuee costume for DD1s 10 minute two sentence assembly part. A mothers life is never dull.

Aaah if only it were that simple. Opted for grey school tights, grey top and a drab green skirt in the end topped off with a beret. She was happy which is the important bit.

Had a truly carp day yesterday when I discovered I am the talk of the village in an Ooh did you here about them up the roads chickens, terrible thing it was, but the size of the bill, oi vey.... not that they're all Jewish but you get the gist. The village is firmly divided into two camps. Those related to the dog owner bemoaning the hefty bill and those shotgun owning chicken keepers who think they got away lightly. Still being farmers at least the debate has been rather poit blank blunt and one person told them that if it'd been in with his chickens he'd have had a bill bigger than that dilivered attached to a dead dog. Perhpas the message is slowly filtering through. Still no word from the dogs owners but I'm holding off doing anything further until after the weekend. Me thinks hes dragging his heels on purpose but I don't fancy a neighbourhood flare up for jumping too soon. Looks like OH has lost his shooting permission over the fields round the house over it though.

Turns out the dog owner had the cheek to ask OH about a freebie rewire of his garden shed when we were up there the day after the chicken massacre. Think a combination of OH saying no to this and the bill over the chickens has ended that although I doubt it'll be for long as they've ingeneously torched the rats nest sending the rats swarming for other homes and there are homes a plenty up there. The place is a veritable haven for rodent des res and with each new home will come a population explosion in about 6 weeks time. They've had to abandon bait boxes because the adult rats are too big to fit through the hole which doesn't really leave many alternatives.

On a more cheery note we've had another very productive day in the garden. More is fenced off securely and hedges have mega haircuts to allow us to get the mesh as close to the boundary as possible. Have invested a tenner in another wheelie bin for garden waste. Figured that would pay for itself in no time. I can cram the same amount into a bin as I can get bagged in my car so roughly two months worth of bin collections will see me break even on fuel for trips to the tip. Definately no excuse for not gardening now.

Half the seeds planted last weekend have sprouted. Haven't a clue where all the plants are going to go. Will get the DDs to !!!!! out and pot on this weekend before the roots become too entangled. Assumed with them being geriatric seeds that only a small proportion of what was planted would germinate but the seeds seem to have had other ideas.

OH has planted up 150 hedge plant cuttings in yet another attempt to platch the hedge. Pervious attempts have been thwarted by neighbour with petrol strimmer.

Saving the best news for last... changing landline providers from BT to Talk Talk has speeded up my broadband... I'm topping 1 GB speeds and its soooper duper fast compared to the years we've had broadband at near dial up speeds. Makes a huge difference to click to load a page and not have time for the kettle to boil before that happens.

Taking the puppy for a longer drive today to get her used to more people and traffic. Shes stopped backing away as cars go past which makes life much easier when I'm trying to walk her. Collecting OHs new pistol whilst we're at it. Puppy reacts very calmly by sitting at my feet when shotguns are fired in the vicinity so hoping a trip to the range will compund the idea that this is a normal occurance and should be ignored whilst staying close. Will make life so much easier. Especially around bonfire night.

Have had a week of NSDs with the exception of the whelie bin splurge and DD2s school trip and the various DDs and OHs service and MOT, all £350 of it. Hmmm perhaps not as none spendy a week as I thought. Tis truly amazing how money seems to flow through your fingers without you really noticing it.

Its non-stop fun here. Woke up to a letter from the dog owner contents of which can't be discussed as they're marked Without Prejudice. Still it is a response, even if its taken over a week for them to get round to it.

    and breathe.

Spent most of yesterday out in the garden again. Have trimmed the hedges so that I can see out of the kitchen window. New wheelie bin arrived and was filled within no time. Could have done with a nother half dozen really. Still its a start. Need to tackle the ivy engulfing the trees next along with the remaining hedging.

After that the weekend will fly by in a whirlwind of domestic drudgery with the odd riding lesson and church fete thrown in. An enormous pile of laudry awaits. Oh joy!
