Got distracted rather more than necessary by the puppy yesterday afternoon. Spent lots of time playing and not so much time doing the things I should have been doing. Seems to be helping her settle in though. Shes already coming when you call her name although thats possibly because any noise is exciting and potentially involving food so is worth checking out. Had a six hour stretch without puppy puddles or droppings other than in the designated paper covered area. Progress is being made. OH seems to have got the idea that its best to shut puppy in a confined space when left unsupervised. Only took a chewed through phone cable to persuade him of this. She seems to be quite happy to be shut away providing there aren't any noises in the house that sound like people doing fun things without her.

Spends have been minimal but essential, really they have.

£2 - 8 rolls of kitchen towel (for poo patrol)
£32 - at vets for hairball no.1s 3 monthly prescription
£1 - 2 packets of imitation bacon crisps (because I'm worth it)
£1.50 - yet another school trip for DD2
£3 - train fare whilst on DD1s school trip

Forgot to send my step mum a birthday card so got DD2 to sing happy birthday via the phone instead. Shes most happy with her Crocs so its not like I forgot completely.

OH is back at work but is reporting back that its total carnage. Most flights are leaving either empty or full of freight. Terminal buildings are like ghost towns as passengers don't know what the heck is going on and those that were told to return to the airport every three hours to see if they are on a plane or !!!!!! orf home instead and try again 3 hours later seem not to be following these instructions. I really can't think why. Nor can I think which moron came up with such a loony idea. They're hoping to be back to normal by the weekend.

Meanwhile OHs next trip away is off according to the UKs head honcho but not according to Europes head honcho. Not a clue now whether or not hes going. Leaving the higher ups to figure it out between them. Will know for definate once the flight has departed on Saturday assuming he still has a seat on it.

Meanwhile had a mini crisis last night when I discovered the carpet layers pouring liquid latex to level the floor thus barricading my car keys in my office. Persuaded one of them to trudge through it to retrieve them so that I could get home. Wish they thought to tell me these things before doing them. Still I now have a section of corridor which should link the main office and the dining room to the rest of the building but which cannopt be used at all today. That'll be fun :rotfl:Being a bit of a blonde I also left all the empty milk crates in the same cupboard as my keys and so have 90 pints in various fridges to transport around the buiding via some alternative method. This could get interesting or become very time consuming or possibly both.

Have lots of flat pack furniture to assemble this morning which should keep me out of mischief although the only tool not supplied in the kit is also strategically placed in my office which means I'll have to come up with something else to do if I forget to take one in with me.

Joy of joys need to grab breakfast and then clear up lots of dried on puppy poo. Oh joy. The fun never ends.

Its barely 6am but puppy is exhausted and asleep on my feet already. Shes far too adorable for her own good. Shes becoming more inquisitive by the minute and so the house is rapidly becomming tidier as more and more stuff is crammed in cupboards out of the way of her teeth. Have grated pepper onto the carpet to stop her chewing on that.

Laundry pile is enormous. Need to do some ironing but have abandoned all attempts at that as the wriggling cable was far too enticing for a tiny set of teeth. Will do that tonight when the DDs are around to distract her.

    Plans for today:

    Poop-a-scooping
    Floor washing
    Vacuuming
    Change DD1s bed

OH is almost packed and ready to depart first thing tomorrow. His flights have been confirmed although he did cheat and go into the airlines offices when he couldn't get through on the phone. Have lots of things to do whilst hes away including writting several billion DooYoos in order to reach payout. Haven't done any for ages. Haven't done much in the way of surveys either but then I've barely left the house since the puppy arrived which has seriously limited my spending.

    Hi Moo

    Both your dogs are gorgeous!!

I so want a Newfoundland but at the moment the house is not big enough and we work too much.

How are you going to manage when the puppy is bigger than the other dog, I can imagine 2 huge dogs racing through your house. :rotfl:

You are going to go through so much food!!

    Morning EE,

I get the impression two huge dogs racing through the house will be considerably easier than one huge dog and one calf height rapidly mobile trip hazard. At least when shes bigger I'll bump into her rather than trip over her. Fortunately house is plenty big enough for the both of them and hairball no. 1 spends most of the day outdoors through choice. Surprisingly they eat very little compared to our previous German Shepherd. Its pet insurance thats the killer. Fortunately the laws of Karma come into play here and a months puppy insurance is pretty much the same amount as last months payrise. Easy come and far too easy go. Can't take out a policy yet though as she has to be 8 weeks old or 2 calendar months first.

DD1 arrived home last night exhausted and smelly. Apparently she launched herself into a lake fully clothed right down to her hiking boots but didn't get round to a shower at any stage. Have to brave the contents of her bag this morning. I'm hoping shes at least remebered to change her underwear. Children are such scummy things when left to their own devices.

OH has already departed leaving me entirely to my own devices until Thursday. I have much planning to do sadly minimal time to execute it but I intend to do something positive with the time. I'm just not sure what.

    Vague plans :

Quick perusal of the cupboard to check we have the bare essentials so that I can pick up milk and anything else essential on the way home form horse riding otherwise we're having a store cupboard challenge as the cupboards are heaving but OH keeps buying random stuff. Admittedly animal feed overkill was me. We currently have 40kg of assorted dog feeds plus 4 dozen cans for the geriatric hairball in addition to a can of ridiculously expensive dried puppy milk which the puppy really isn't bothered about drinking despite the vet saying its essential. Perhaps he should be telling her that.

Laundry, laundry and more laundry in an attempt to finally get to the bottom of the pile before OH returns with even more of the stuff. Its like being on a merry-go-round that you can't get off.

Update of the spending diary is most definately required because its been quite some time since I last put pen to paper and my bank account is looking rather depleted for 10 days post payday. Rumor has it DD2s class are going on a trip to the zoo at a cost of £20 per child - only the third planned trip for her class this term. Am beginning to wonder if I look like a secret millionaire. If I do could someone point me in the direction of my numbered off shore bank account as the closest I've come to the Cayman Islands is a pair of Crocs by the same name.

Need to vac but then I need to remember to regrind pepper onto the various spots that puppy has attempted to eat which is perhaps why it looks so bitty in the first place.

Have stuff to relist on E-bay to get them out from underfoot but most importantly to get shut of them before puppy eats them.

And finally need to do something frivalous just for me. Because I'm worth it god dam it.

That reminds me of the time I came back from a week's camping with Guides and my new bar of soap (lovingly provided by Mum) was still safely sealed in its wrapper. Apparently I told her I'd *borrowed* someone else's...Yeah. Good luck with that bag of doom.

Cuuuuute puppiness is rather lovely - has Hairball No1 taken to her OK?

Scouts had an entirely different attitude. On the last day of our trip we were instructed to bring our washbags to the camp fire. Further instructions involved opening the bag, wetting the flannel, squidging toothpaste on our toothbrushes and returning them to our bags where we then had to shake vigorously. The Brownie leaders on the other hand lined us all up in the middle of a field and insisted we scrubbed en masse each and every day. I much preferred scout camp.

Hairball no. 1 spends most evenings curled up with the puppy. You'd have thought they'd been together for ages.

OK, those dogs are officially too cute!

So adorable to see them both lying down together (although from your description sounds like a very rare moment when puppy is lying down!)
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Frugal plans for a minimalistic essentials only shop went awol when the co-ops giant pizzas were reduced to 69p each. Thats dinner tonight sorted. Went on to purchase whoopsied milk, bread, beef and chicken leaving the shop with three carrier bags full of food and change out of a tenner. Not quite what I had in mind but hopefully the basis for 5 or so meals.

Have unpacked DD1s bag to discover the contents are sub-human. Everything appears to have been worn, that or shes tipped a bucket of pond water in there. Have done two loads already but fear I'll need to do at least six more to clear the mountain. Gave in and removed the heap from the floor at OHs side of the bed. Since theres only me in there I'm having a skid-mark free tranquil oasis complete with freshly laundered sheets (yep more laundry) and posh scented candles. Yes I too fell for the Party Lite sales pitch several years ago. Whilst they do smell v. nice I must have been barking to pay a tenner for a candle. Unfortunately I did this not once nor twice but several times. Still I have some v. posh candle holders in which to put them. Might go the whole hog and dust off a face mask too.

Third load of washing on. Hall, stairs, landing and master boudoir vacuumed. Master bedroom partially de-bloked. One packet of crisps decluttered, half way to being able to declutter a book too. DD1 vegged in front of the goggle box chowing ice cream. DD2 off harassing the natives. No sign of OH so I can only assume his flight departed with him on it. One rather agresssive chicken guarding the nest box and half a dozen eggs. Will attempt to move her to solitary confinement tonight.

Kitchen is still a disaster zone but on a v. positive note puppys puddles are becoming less frequent. Whilst they are decreasing in frequency they are increasing in volume and we're rapidly discovering that the flooring is not as level as we thought.

Haven't touched my spending diary in almost two weeks. Trawling back through the posts in an attempt to figure out what I've spent and where I've spent it I've realised how much I ramble. Ah well.
