Went to the flicks on Saturday night and saw the truly awesome How to Train Your Dragon (thanks FF). Enjoyed it far more than anything else I've seen in ages.
Any time! Well maybe not anytime now that the website I was playing ganes on has stopped handing out cinema tickets like sweeties :rotfl:
Glad you enjoyed it though - I saw it last week and loved it too!0 -

Life in the mad house has been even madder than normal. Turns out the key to getting men and children to tidy up is to tell them that the puppy will poo or eat anything and everything. house is the idiest it has ever been. Puppy is fab. V. time consuming but fab. Currently asleep on my fet under the PC desk which is the quietest shes been all day.
Other news is not so fab. OHs company have announced that since they have been forced to suspend operations due to volcanic eruptions they are also suspending pay. Staff have been told they can use their annual holiday allowance to cover this period or take it as unpaid leave but at the point they run out of holiday they'll have to class it as unpaid leave anyway. Means we're royally stuffed like thousands of others employed within the airline industry. Contractors were all laid off last Thursday to be re-employed once flights resume but for the mo. theres no sign of that. OH is at least classed as permanent staff which allows for the tiniest amount of security but that won't last long if the company folds because of this.
Still every cloud has a sliver lining and all that. OH has washed up and figured out how to load, run and unload the washing machine. It appears dream do come true after all.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Sorry to hear about OH's job problems - so many people affected and the uncertainty of not knowing when it is going to improve.
Good news about the puppy though

What a bummer! Hope this won't mess up your summer holiday plans. I so envy you having a puppy to sleep on your feet, what joy. Interested to hear if the load that went in to be washed was correctly sorted etc. That's easier, I think, than getting a man to load the dishwasher - so hard not to move things around afterwards because they've loaded it incorrectly, but so destructive to do that!
Wishing you much love and continued strength as always.0 -
Puppy is a four legged daemon in disguise. Went to bed last night leaving her shut in a room with food, bedding. water and most importantly a washable floor covered in newspaper. Awoke this morning to find her shut in a completely different room with no food or water, a very angry cat and a poo covered rug. Appears shes had lots of fun playing with OHs slippers but other than that colateral damage is minimal. Scary to think shes so bright already or that one small pooch can produce so much poo. Shes a four legged stinky poo factory. But v. v. adorable.
Photos to follow when I eventually manage to separate her from the DDs for long enough to get a decnt piccie without them in the shot.
Meanwhile UK airspace is now open but OH has been told not to go to work as scheduling is to pot and no one has any clue which planes are where nor if there are any crew in the right place to take them where they are destined to go. Hes been told to stay attached to his mobile on the off chance something that they are contracted to work on lands. If it does he can go in and will get paid. If it doesn't he won't. Will wait to see what happens. Things are so screwed up thats theres a fair old chance that passengers will miss flights purely because they can't get hold of the airlines to see if they've got seats on the flights that are departing as no one has any idea whats going where nor who has seats on it in the first place. Chaos reigns. Still at least theres an end in sight.
DD1 departs today. We had tears last night ecause shes decided its a long time to be away and she'll miss everybody. Pointed out that she'd stayed with her grandparents for longer but apparently thats different. She didn't miss us at all then because we didn't have a puppy. Have hidden letters for bedtime in her bag along with a tiny teddy bear. Seems I am a softy at heart.
Spent 45 minutes yesterday building one solitary flat pack office chair. Have another five to do tomorrow once the carpet has been laid. Looks like we may get rid of the builders at work on friday after all. Theres still an awful lot to do though. The good news is the builders are subcontracting me to clean up after tham so I'll get several hours overtime out of it for doing something that I should probably be doing anyway.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Fortunately I'd already done all the darks so his selection was an eclectic mix of lights, whites and coloureds. Fortunately no catastrophes and he didn't delve deep enough to add the handwash only stuff. I'll get him trained eventually by which point I'll probably be 90 and dressed head to toe in shades of beige and brown anyway.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Just how thick does owning a set of hairy shrivelled up kiwi fruit make a person? It doesn't take an enormous amount of brain power to work out that a puppy who is not housetrained will pee as and when it feels the need wherever it happens to be at the time. The quicker its cleaned up the less damage that the pee or poo will do. Simples. Only apparently not as I discovered when I arrived home to find OH had gone out and there was dried on puppy poo on the carpet and poo scented puppy paw prints spread over a six foot radius. All OH had to do was shut her in the kitchen before he left.
Good news is hes gone to work.
Rant over. V. nice postie has been bringin with him £16 worth of gift vouchers. Unfortunately he brought with him a monster of a credit card statement.
Plans for this morning involve more laundry than usual thanks to a variety of puppy related incidents which necessitate the washing of several rugs in addition to all the usual carp. House is begining to look minimalistic as more and more stuff is placed out of reach of puppys jaws. You'd be amazed just how much stuff OH has agreed to chuck out.
Discovered WiiFitting is a lethal activity. Attempted step aerobics but it abandoned this after discovering a v. excited pupppy chasing my socks and placing her head where I wanted my feet to be on more than one occassion. All attempts at excercise are on hold for the mo. Its just too dangerous. On the plus side it means I have more time to devote to playing with the puppy who is v. v. playful although I'd be considerably happier if she didn't use my toes as chew toys.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
As promised. Puppy aged 7 weeks.Pics aren't great but taking a decent picture of a totally black dog is considerably harder than you think. To give you an idea of scale the doorway is 4' wide (1.2m for all you whippersnappers out there).Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
