Anyhooo yesterdays post Co-Op spends were as follows:
£2.99 Boots (need to order a new advantage card as mine escaped down the gap between the two counter units)
£41.91 Go-go juice for the car
£12.24 A very expensive bag of spuds in Sainsburys. Tis truly amazing what leapt into the trolley to keep it company.
Filled both wheelie bins to the brim in my garden cleaing frenzy. Hoping to eradicate the worst of the nettles before they start to sprout again. Need to prune back the strawberry runners as they've gone mad. Still its a start and I really enjoyed spending the afternoon outdoors in the sun.
There are lots more bits of junk I could do with getting rid of but they're all too big for the wheelie bin so I guess a trip to the tip is imminent. Can combine that with a trip to the feed merchant as we're running low on chicken feed.
Plans for today involve catching up on two weeks worth of gossip, doing whatever essential things I totally forgot to do over the hols and a quick last minute clean up before school starts. After that I can finally blitz the house without people underfoot its not bad considering its been two weeks since I did any major housework but I could do with a days tidying before I start cleaning. Things seem to have randomly migrated to the most obscure places.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Washing machine on. One mug of coffee and one enormous 100g bag of imitation Frazzles scoffed whilst surfing. Off to make it look like I've done some housework before returning to school for an afternoon of Road Safety lessons.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Oh wow - your DH sounds like a new man! I hope it lasts, are you having to give him huge rounds of applause every time he does something 'nice' like washing up 'for you' or getting the kids ready 'for you' LOL. I'm not knocking it though! Sounds like he's really making an effort.Start Date: 27/11/2010

Came home to find OH had cooked shepherdless pie and a beef stew. More amazingly he'd done two different dishes because hes working lates onight and wanted something different to take in with him rather than buying a couple of butties or a kebab from works cafe. He was looking alittle sheepish though as it turned out he'd bought a bottle but didn't open it until I got home and then offered me a glass which is most gobsmacking. Took a fair amount of effort not to say anything but he managed to make it last for three hours which again is unheard of and went to bed a happy chappy.
Will wait to see if this is repeated again tonight or if it was just a one off. I'm hoping its a one off but I've a feeling it perhaps won't be. In his own little way hes proved to himself he isn't an alcoholic and does have some self control by not drinking for a few days. So theres no reason he can't start again because he chooses to or at least thats waht he normally convinces himself. Still the return to normality was nice while it lasted. I guess its just a case of wait and see.
Being on lates means hes home all day so will see if he can be persuaded to assist in the grand tidying up of the garden as I can cram far more stuff for the tip in his car since its twice the size of mine. At worst I can suggest I borrow it which normally sends him into headless chicken mode as my driving is abysmal and hes convinced I'll prang it. Incidently I've only ever done that once when I jack-knifed a trailer attempting to do a three point turn in a tiny car park on a very very steep slope with a very dodgy handbrake.
Managed to do all the ironing yesterday so have that to put away today and another couple of loads to do. Need to vac again as hairball no. 1 is moulting but OH gets rather annoyed when hes at home without the DDs and all I do is housework. Perhpas thats because all I ever do is housework. Not doing it because hes at home means I end up doing twice as much the day after.
Need to tidy the PC desk at some point today as thats under seige from random bits of paper.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Fingers crossed for OH just having a one off, and good luck with the garden clearing!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

OH seems to have rediscovered his positive attitude towards life and so , ratehr predictably, today didn't go according to plan. Instead of tidying up the garden we went to the garden centre for lunch and had a lovely couple of hours sat chatting in the fresh air. Its days like this that remind me why I love him so much.
Mushy bit over.
Purchased chicken feed so thats one thing less to worry about, although I did discover we're alarmingly low on loo rolls again. The DDs must be eating them or using them to transform each other into mummies. Theres no other way that we can have got through a dozen loo rolls in a month unless of course theres a black market for loo rolls and the DDs are exchanging them for other goods on the school playground.
Got a cheque for £40 as payment for the holiday job. Tomorrow is payday so I've written a heap of cheques to cover the next installment of DD1s September school trip.
DDs are happily chowing on yesterdays leftovers so I haven't had to put much effort into feeding them which is just as well because I'm absolutely kettled. Its hard work being a lady who lunches.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Strangely MSE doesn't have a dancing around the house with your pants on your head icon but if they did I'd be using it now. Despite all my doom and gloom prophesising OH drank nothing stronger than coffee yesterday. Am starting to hope that perhaps this time hes finally getting somewhere. Have to keep reminding myself that its still very early days but its making an unbelievable amount of difference to everything. Think the most noticable difference will come towards the middle of next month when the various credit card statements arrive as I'd hazard a guess our outgoings will be considerably less than normal, plus it will show exactly how much we have been spending on booze which I'd guess would be in the region of £250 a month but probably closer to £300.
Plans for today involve doing all the things I haven't got round to yet this week. Carpets really do need vacuuming, bedding needs changing and the laundry basket is rather full again although I could swear I glimpsed the bottom of it yesterday.
Surveys seem to be diminishing in frequency. Haven't written any DooYoos in over a week but will catch up on them next week once OH goes away.
The DDs don't seem to have watched any VHS videos for ages so will have a mass cull of those later. Even getting rid of half a dozen will clear a lot of space on the shelf. Problem is they're all my favourites too. Couldn't possibly part with Beauty and The Beast or Snow White. School are having another Bag2School collection in 2 weeks time which gives me two weeks to chuck out all the bedding and clothing thats manky or outgrown hopefully freeing up a bit more cupboard space. Need to get OH to do that though as he has three times as many clothes as I do but only ever seems to wear 3 jumpers from a stack of 30 or so.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
OHs expenses from his last away trip have been paid meaning we are now officially sub 15K. Would be dancing around my handbag if I owned one but since I don't I'm going to do a bin bag dance instead. Such excitement. Off to tackle the DDs bedrooms and the hall, stairs and landing. Have stuffed my face with garlic cheese thickly slathered on biscuits just in case I get carried away and forget all about lunch.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
