Attempted to log in using Nurgh as my password. That says a lot about the state of things today. DD1 tootled in at 3am to see why I was still in bed and to offer to make me a cuppa. Wonder why she never does that at a civilised hour. Geriatric hound decided she needed to go out five minutes before OHs alarm went off. Attempted to go back to sleep but failed miserably. Need more than four hours sleep to function.

Survived last nights fayre spending a mere £15 mostly because the DDs martial arts demonstration lasted an hour so by the time they'd got changed twice and scoffed hot dogs it was time for DD1 to depart for her disco. Came home with surprisingly little tat although I did donate an entire pound for a carrier bag of CDs and DVDs of which a third appear on Music Magpie and will net me £7 profit after Quidco. Thats gone seriously downhill too though, got an awful lot of "sorry, we've got enough of that items", those that they would accept were at 30p. Still that should cover the fuel I'm going to use disposing of as much left over stuff as humanly possible before 9:30am by [STRIKE]dumping it[/STRIKE] donating it to the village fete. Of course this means I need to kick the DDs out of bed far earlier than they'd like in order to achieve this and be at the riding school in time for their lesson.

Washing machine is on. Am keeping everything crossed that the grass stains come out of the DDs white martial arts uniforms first time round as I need them dry enough to iron by 8am tomorrow. They take an eternity and carry dire warnings regarding tumble driers.

Further plans for the day involve managing to stay awake until 8pm without biting anyones head off. Much caffeine is called for. But before that I have a car full of books ... it would be criminal not to have a quick look see just in case theres something which appeals.

Three car loads of tat duly abandoned in a field somewhere in North Wales. Between us the DDs and I managed to liberate several dozen books, a tie dyed scarf, two handbags and an inflatable canoe for barbie ths spending something in the region of £20. DD2 managed to spend an hour and a half on the bouncy castle before pootling off to skip round the field. She fell asleep curled up like a cat on the armchair whilst dinner was cooking, survived being carried up stairs and dumped on her bed and has yet to surface. Am anticipating a change of bedding being in order. DD1 departed for a bath at 6pm and was asleep by 7pm. Hoping they're full of beans this morning.

Managed to get their martial arts gear dry between showers although this did involve a lot of running in and out with the laundry basket. Still need to iron them but, as normal, have left this to the very last possible moment. Further plans for the day should really involve dehairing the house, mucking out the chickens and pruning another chunk of hedge in anticipation of the imminent arrival of the bin men.

However I have more pressing matters to attend to in the form of the village quiz, a highly competitive thing entitled Where in Britain? which takes the form of a cryptic crossword only without the grid so I haven't got a scooby how many letters the answer should have. Have managed to get 97 out of the 100 but am well and truly stuck on the last three which are as follows:

    Spoil an entrance
Need them for dog walking *duh* Of course the answers Leeds... what a muppet!
A novel way to open a door

Any suggestions? Theres an entire box of chocolates resting on this! The rest have been groaningly awful with such abominations as "Skull in a rabbit hole" for Edinburgh.

Thanks guys. They've been driving me nuts. Did the rest yesterday whilst attempting not to hemorrhage cash at the village fete.

Gradings completed. DD1 is convinced shes failed hers for not knowing any of the Korean terms and for bursting into tears at this despite getting th pattern of movements right. Attempted the ah well it doesn't matter, you can always take it again in September approach but this led to more tears. Meh.

Did the weekly shop on the way home spending a rather surprising £8.18 yet getting all the essentials. Now have fresh fruit and veg, bread milk and coffee. Hoping to make them stretch to next weekend when I'll do a reasonable sized shop to avail myself of a £7 off a £70 spend at Mr Ts voucher although I also have a 25% code for Ocado but can't bring myself to pay a fiver for delivery.

Managed to muck out the chooks before the heavens opened but will have to wash the martial arts gear again after a quick dash across the sports centre car park left the legs covered in mud splats. Mind you would have to wash DD2s anyway as she managed to cut her leg. Quite how shes done it remains a mystery since this mornings grading was non-contact.

Had an over of a fiver on E-bay for a few old magazines so have accepted graciously. The remaining stuff is up to £25 with three days to go.

Off to pretend to have done some housework this morning as OH is en route home. Hoping that loading the dishwasher and putting away some of the laundry will have maximum impact for minimal effort in super quick time.

I have vacuumed and ironed and washed up... twice... and tidied and wrapped music magpie parcels and E-bay buy it nows and I'm sooooooo bored its untrue. DD1 is asleep on the sofa, DD2 is attempting a Wii playing marathon and is halfway through the collection of titles on the shelf.

Attempted to play Exerbeat, which arrived amid Fridays chos, but the voiceover is soooooo very annoying. In fact highly annoying laydee is very informative but it reminds me a bit too much of a 1970s Jane Fonda cassette tape work out. Hopefully thats just applicable to the uncoordinated imbecile level, whether I can put up with it long enough to be allowed to progress to an advanced level is another matter entirely.

Meanwhile further progress is being made on project Land Rover with an ever growing list of things appearing on the E-bay watch list, at least there are no longer any boats on there.

thought i'd share some jam-making shennanigans with you;)

picked 3kg of redcurrants with a few ripe blackcurrants from OH's allotment (and there are lots more to go)

cue, pouring over the preserving bibles to decide what to make. obv, redcurrant jelly (boy did i find it difficult to NOT touch the jelly bag) round one with another batch to do tomorrow - plus might try a small bottle of alcoholic redcurrant cordial.

the rest of the reds plus the blacks joined some defrosted blackberries into a mixed jam - seemed to be a much messier affair than usual and have just put a wash load of jammy cloths, tea towels and my sweatshirt on!

but, the jam seems to taste nice. i am learning all the time - there are snippets of vital info to be learnt from each of the books. can't believe it's after 10 now.......
