Firesidemaid that sounds rather scrummy... have to admit to being a bag squeezer though. I very patiently do all the sitting about for an eternity waiting for gravity to assist in the leakage of juice from the suspended bag whilst shooing away cats who attempt to drink from the bowl and children who equally seem to think I'm making fruit juice. The reward for patience at the end of the jelly making is the squishing of the bag in a large bowl to make the most scrummy ice lollies known to man although we've also been known to extend our repertoir to cover fruity ice cubes on discovering a shortage of lolly moulds.

Strawberry and redcurrant jam is devine.... am not at all jealous that your redcurrants are ready to harvest already whilst everything here is still green and rather storm damaged having been battered by non stop torrential rain for the past 36 hours. Am now hoping sports day is postponed allowing me a rather peaceful day instead of the mayhem caused by having to arrange outdoor seating for 700 people by 10am and the usual last minute scavenge for a movable finishing line. Also need to repair the foam javelins using a glue which takes 24 hours to stop being sticky but which needs to be dry three hours from now.

Got rather engrossed in a book yesterday evening and forgot all about baking stuff for school lunch boxes, ended up lobbing instant jelly into plastic cups to buy me two days in which to avoid baking.

Its been so cold and damp that we gave in and lit the fire.. in sodding June... do the weather peeps not realise that this plays havoc with my non-existant budgeting skills?

Have tweo more days of peace before OHs shift run ends and phase 2 of project Landrover commences. Apparently this entails movig the bulkhead from the dining room *whoop whoop* and placing it on the chassis whilst Phase three involves removing the rear tub of the old landie (the body sides and floor) and lifting them up and over the bulkhead, the top of which will be about 5 feet high, without scratching the paintwork. Obviously logic would suggest you do this the other way around but apparently ce n'est pas possible. Lack of space dictates that we do it the hard way, besides which the sides have to come off before the floor can come out at which point OH will discover that the back of the Landie is full of stuff we shoved there last time his enthusiasm waned.. and the seats are still fitted and so it goes on.

In a vague attempt to be domesticated (you can stop laughing now!) I liberated a couple of boxes from the freezer and will be serving up slow cooker surprise for dinner tonight. I thinks one obx continas thai lemon sauce and the others diced turkey and beef but on the other hand it could well be the mystery box of offal from the last pork delivery in which case I'll have some very happy animals and some rather hungry children. May well need to chuck some dumplings in.

Finally got a cheque for the outstanding vet claim along with a slap on the wrist for not filling in the correct forms.

Spent the majority of yesterday at school but did make a point of stopping to watch sports day. Have been reminded that I need to sort out the holiday club cleaning rota although the cleaners don't want to do it. Was hoping to avoid it this year but thats looking less and less likely.

DD2 has decided to start cubs so need to remember to take her to that next week too. She has a busier social calendar than the rest of us put together.

Have minimal plans for today. Mostly involving doing things that I've avoided doing thus far this week.

I know what you mean about children and their social life. It has I have to admit, been bliss the last 10 days, as one or other of the boys has been too sick to do their sport/clubs, so it has been much easier to sort out than normal.... chev

Pants to sick children but it is nice just to sit at home and bang your head against the wall without suddenly remembering you're late for dropping off or colecting the offspring.

I really really really hate E-bay. Half the auctions finished last night. One item had 21 watchers but didn't sell although I've had nine e-mails since the auction ended asking how much to buy it. Meh. Everything paid for so far is packaged up to post off. Off spent the evening sulking because I spent time staring at the PC rather than watch him get steadily more inebriated. Things were going ok until he saw the nurse for his quarterly check up and got an ear bending for putting on weight, all 2kg of it, hes not taking any sort of criticism well at the mo.

Meanwhile I've finally been paid fo Februrays overtime, all 17 hours of it which has made a humungous £85 difference to my salary. Tis better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick.

Went to a friends for coffee yesterday morning. Came home, grabbed lunch and spent the afternoon assisting OH with the fitting of the bulkhead to projct Landies chassis which means the dining room was temporarily free of Land Rover bits. Admitedly the space has rapidly been filled with other bits of landie but they are much smaller, so much smaller in fact that the hound from hell ate one of them which means I'll be spending the next 48 hours getting up close and personal with steaming piles of puppy poo to make sure its come out the other end.

Plans for today are many fold and involve the fitting of many nuts and bolts to various locations on project landie. Am spured on by the knowledge that every hour spent doing this means fewer bits in the house but many arguments because I am a bimbo and am incapable of wandering into the house to find the correct part from amongst a collection of similar looking greasy parts, mind you it helps when OH appears and spends 10 minutes rummaging through boxes looking for the same thing only to conclude that its not there.

Came home from my first stint at work to find OH had hung the washing out. This is usually indicative of a very long day ahead. Had a quick cuppa, slapped on some barrier cream in the hopes that I wouldn't be left with black skin (it didn't work) and headed outside. Spent the entire day stripping the wiring loom from the engine bay and dashboard of the original Landie trying to memorise what headed where, since one grimy bit of cable looks just the same as any other I fear this was rather pointless but time will tell. OH stripped out the foot pedals and connected bits and then we discovered the anti-tamper bolts fitted to the steering column to make sure people can't steal the car also mean people can't remove it legitimately either. Cue much swearing and drilling... several wasted hours later now have to source replacement bolts and purchase several dozen more drill bits.

Came home to find DD1 had spent two hours with a wire brush cleaning the rust off one of the parts before priming and respraying it. Finally got her to bed at 9pm at which point she miraculously remembers she has homework. Bah. DD2 flitted about from one thing to another but still managed to get caked in grease and oil. Bunged her in the bath but had to admit defeat and will be sending her to school tomorrow with an oil stain extending from her nose to her ear. Delightful child!

Have had payments for half the E-bay tat and will be making my second trip of the week to the Post Office to get rid of the parcels. Am thinking of the money and the space its generated but its still one more thing to do today. Am up to nine offers for the incubator which didn't sell. Why do people think I'll accept £20 for a £250 item? I mean really.

Got a surprise package yesterday from the peeps at Hatton Garden Metal with a very long winded explaination about the penalty which isn't a penalty just a badly worded invoice which means I haven't lost any value at all. They've very kindly returned the non-gold stuff and waived their usual £6.50 fee for doing this despite me ticking the box saying chuck it in the bin if its worthless.

Have been awake since the sub-human hour of 4am. Got up with the dog but couldn't get back to sleep. Not awake enough to do anything either though. Am going to surf aimlessly in the hopes of finding round sticky labels suitable for printers which come in the very obscure size required by the Country Market label printing software. This could take quite some time.

Arrived home from work to find OH is rewiring the Landrover on the dining table. Must not get upset, nor angry nor really peed off that theres decades of mud and grime and bits of stuff all over the table and the chairs and the floor. I mean its not as if I'm houseproud, or even suffer from slum envy.... mind you after today I couldn't give much of a monkeys. Have been cursed a thousand times and in the space of three hours had to clear up after a serial puker, deal with a tap which parted company with a sink flooding the new loos and then the boss left, but not before sending someone to tell me that a 50 man choir was descending upon the building after the martial arts class. Fortunately hes going back to lock up after them. Will be glad to go to bed tonight.
