I did it, I did it, I did it!!!! I actually sold some jam. Admitedly only two jars but thats better than nowt.

OH finished work early and walked the four legged fiend the four miles to the village to meet me. Ended up in the pubs beer garden sipping cokes. Would have been cheaper to drink beer. Surely that can't be right.

On the brightside I did avoid purchasing anything at the country market, unlike the other stall holders who seem to be their own best customers.

Off to potter about in the sunshine. Tis far too nice to be indoors.

Continuing the theme of positivity I actually got round to listing some of the stuff destined for E-bay which included pursuading OH to part with some Land Rover bits. Really really really really hope they shift. Will be continuing with that today. Even if only half of it sell I should make £100 so with that in mind I'm going to list lots and lots more. Theres no shortage of tat to go.

Have to rummage around in the freezer to throw together dinner for six tonight. Not a clue what I'll end up doing. Have a sneaky feeling the freezer is full of bread and ice cream and not much in the way of meat. My dad will not be impressed if I feed him quorn.

Plans for the day involve much ironing and clothes folding, a spot of tidying before granny arives since the kitchen is covered in greasy land rover parts, much degreasing of the kitchen to eradicate all traces of land rover and a spot of quality me time before OH and the offspring appear.

Seem to be stuck in a bit of a doom and gloom rut. Feels like things should be progressing but they're just stagnating. Its most infuriating but I'm my own worst enemy. Need to get the spendy elves back under control.

Kick up the bum part 1...

Have finally got around to sorting through the jewellery box I inherited from my mum. I did initially chuck all the plastic tat but kept the vast majority of the metal. I've never worn any of it, most of it is completely meaningless to me and so its been ignored for quite some time.

Decided to keep only those things with memories attached and the less hideous items, those which are antiques and that have no value because they're costume jewellery. Even so I've only got rid of a tiny fraction of whats there. Have amassed a small pile of broken or truly horrific gold and silver, but mostly broken and very tarnished. Am not convinced that its all gold nor that the silver is all silver but some of it is. Best case scenario is the 55g of gold and the same weight of silver will net me a rather surprising £620... nope thats not a typo. Will be gobsmacked if I get that much, was only expecting about £50. Have used Martins best rated retailer: Hatton Garden Metals and found an online code to gain an extra 1%. Will get the stuff in the post tomorrow morning.

Off to dig out the camera and start photographing tat for flea-bay.

Nine more job lots listed on E-bay. Off to mow the lawn before I loose the will to live. Have at least 30 more listings to go but can't face doing it at the mo.

    Hi Moo
I know how you feel....ebay can really be very soul destroying! I spent yesterday in the garden and its now bucketing down so at least I get the chance to do something inside.

Well done on selling your jam. Onwards and upwards. As I have said before ... where do you get the energy to do so much.

Take care and enjoy your gardening.

Gave in after 39 listings. Am most amazed I lasted that long. I hate listing on E-bay almost as much as I hate packaging up the stuff for posting. At least I won't have to worry about that until the middle of next week.

Children are home and asleep. They've had a fab time and have been so good that Granny is borrowing them for a week in the summer hols. Shes a superstar. Assuming I work five of the seven days that alone will save forking out £200 for childcare.

Have stayed up late to place last minute e-bay bids for OH. Sadly, yes really, I've been pipped at the post everytime. Its been a good excuse to veg out with a giant packet of onion rings and read 150 pages of a book in peace though.

Am now vaguely wondering if I can concoct some hairbrained challenge with a pre-christmas deadline to focus my mind and stop the mini splurges occuring with increasing frequency. Mind you my mini splurges are nothing compared with OH who has decided he'd like to buy a boat and has arranged to view one later in the week. Clearly "where the hell are you going to put it?" translates into man speak as "you'd better find somewhere to store it then!" The man has had far too many mid life crises.

Continuing this weeks theme of seeing the positive in absolutely everything I can report a whoo hoo moment upon disovering I have a bid on E-bay. All £2.99 of it. One down, 38 more to go.

Am vaguely thinking of attempting to focus all my energies into reducing the remaining debt to 5K by Christmas. Seems a nice neat figure to aim for. Quite where I'd find the 7k (or even 8K) to do this is another matter entirely especially since thats considerably greater than my income. It would make more sense to review my budget, ignoring all the things I can't do anything about and focusing rather intensly on my personal splurges and supermarket spends as they've both got rather out of hand and I'm failry sure I could shave at least £100 off them without noticing each month. Equally there are far too many ignored surveys in my in-box so a combination of more surveys and less spending is on the cards which should also improve things.

Computer might say no but OH has gone to view one anyway taking the DDs with him.

Have spent today doing grotty things on project Land Rover. Am amazed how much stuff OH has said can be binned and how quickly stuff is being put back together. Not that any of it has actually made it to the garden yet.

Had an e-mail from Hatton Garden Metals. Cheque is in the post. Have been penalised an undisclosed amount for sending in metals that are not gold or silver. Have e-mailed them for an explanation. I mean fine the stuffs not gold or silver but their site doesn't say theres a charge for this, nor how that charge is calculated. Its all most odd. Still will shortly be £100 better off than I was.

***Edited after a v. nice letter from Hatton Garden explaining very politely that I am a bimbo and have leapt to all the wrong conclusions - I haven't been penalised at all, the statement "you have lost weight due to non-gold itmes being included" actually means a proportion of the stuff you have sent is worthless tat and the value of the gold is as follows... *****

Have a washing machine load of laundry to dry now OH is no longer using the washing line to spray paint parts and am off to grab dinner whilst its peaceful.
