I'm finally home alone. Departure was delayed somewhat after the predicted scattered showers became a tempestuous torrent and the discovery that the campsite doesn't allow arrivals before noon. DD2 was so excited she barely slept at all last night. Sent her back to bed at 4am when I came down to let the gaeriatric old dear out and found her watching some dubious sit-com.
Had a bit of an OMG moment last night when watching a romcom on Film 4 with the DDs. One minute its your typical naff Sunday night 7pm film and the next I'm covering DD2s eyes whilst OH fumbles for the remote control. What were they doing asks DD2 .... urm dancing said OH and I in unison. DD1 helpfully points out that actually they weren't. They were taking off their clothes to have s e x and then burst into fits of giggles because the chap in question had a hairier chest than OH. Blimy. They don't half grow up quick. I was under the delusion that this was a conversation that wouldn't be required for at least another year. Turns out DD1 knows all about it from watching the animals. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise really. But it did.
Am now at a complete loss where to start. I have apricots soaking in bowls awaiting transformation into apricot and cinnamon and apricot and almond jam. Have emptied and cleaned a shelf returning a third of the stuff that was previously on it. The rest has been chucked in the bin or bunged in a box to take to school with me tomorrow for donation to the summer fayre.
At some point I'm going to slap on a face mask and girlify myself whilst removing what remains of my toe nail varnish. Obviously it would make more sense to get the grimy kitchen cleaning jobs out of the way first, then change the bed, have a toy free bubble bath, which means a quick bathroom tidy is in order, and bung on some PJs. However since I also plan to Wii Zumba the idea of getting sweaty once the PJs are on seems a bit daft. No more daft than spending my 48 hours of peace cleaning the kitchen though.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
I am all jammed out. Not only did I whip up a batch of brandy and whiskey marmalade as intended but I also got carried away and made apricot jam with cinammon and apricot jam with almonds which is lovely, like eating spreadable marzipan, it was most delicious... note the use of the past tense... I've already finished the third of a jar that I bunged in the fridge.
Have cleaned out another cupboard chucking five carrier bags full of unnecessary stuff. Daft thing is it really isn't a big cupboard. I phoned a friend I haven't spoken to since before Christmas, spent an hour on the phone catching up which was most excellent. Shes coming to stay for a few days at the start of the summer hols which will give me something to look forward to.
OH phoned earlier to say the weather is glorious. Meh. Its done nothing but rain here all day. The DDs are having a fab time and even volunteered to wash up. Wish they'd do that at home.
I've just finished up last nights left overs, hadn't realised quite how late it was. Am rather glad I didn't have to cook. Think I'd have resorted to cheese and baked bean toasties. Have really enjoyed being able to do my own thing and make as much mess as I like without needing to stop to do dinner. Am going to miss tucking the DDs in tonight though.
Am now torn between zumbaing (which I quite fancy) and scoffing the last of the crumble with ice cream (which I fancy more). Seem to have done nothing but eat all day.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Best of both worlds: reward yourself for Zumbaing with some crumble?0

As insightful as ever FF. Now I simply need to get orf my !!!! and do something other than catch up on diaries which is way more entertaining than anything thats on the telly box. Off to zumba before I waste the entire evening doing nothing.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

And so I zumbled and was far too wide awake for a school night. Eventually felt tired enough to go to bed at 11:30 which is 2 hours later than normal. Was still wide awake at 5:30 although I've had a great nights sleep.
Have cleared out and cleaned another cupboard. Obviously at some point I need to put it all back but I did find myself pulling stuff out and thinking what the heck have I kept this for? and this and this and this... and why do I have so many of these and those and... well you get the general idea. That just leaves me 7 cupboards and 8 drawers to do before OH returns.
The bathroom is an even bigger mess than it was yesterday simply because I am the messiest cook ever. Managed to use half a dozen tea towels and coat the oven gloves in jam. Am still waiting for the two loads I did yesterday to dry so theres fat chance of me making any major headway in that.
Plans for today involve much kitchen cleaning, shed loads of laundry and the abandoning of a car boot load of tat at school. Also need to fit in the hygiene course which I completely forgot about yesterday. Figure that should keep me out of mischief.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Aaah... nooo its simply because the laundry basket is in the bathroom but its not big enough to cope with the amount of laundry previously heaped on top of it which the hound from hell has transformed into a giant nest on the floor.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Meh meh and meh again. Discovered schools main pc had decided to die over the weekend. Phoned IT who helpfully sent a man out with a new one despite me pointing out that it wasn't needed until Monday. Apparently it takes six hours to load the software... which means returning to school late afternoon to lock up. On top of that OH has left his medication at home only didn't realise that until this morning. Have promised to drop that off at some point today too. Since these things always go tits up in threes I now have to go into school for a half hour electrical inspection on Friday round about the time my parents are due to arrive. Meh. So much for trying to be organised.
In theory this should give me a kick up the bum to get a move on with the stuff I need to do but its having the opposite effect. Am hoping lunch and a cuppa will work miracles.
Have managed to clear sufficient cupboard space to put the preserving pan into a cupboard rather than just wedging it on top of the freezer which is progress. Hopefully I can work the same miracles on the other cupboards. No chance of me tackling the wardrobe though. There simply aren't enough hours in the day.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
