Had an evening full of arguments. OH thinks a boat is a wonderful idea and the one he saw yesterday has been declared engineless yet perfect. DD1 is rather fearful of capsizing and drowning and got told thats her own fault for being scared of water when she went for swimming lessons. Could have cheerfully thumped him at that point. DD2 isn't even slightly interested. OH seems to think they'll all have a wonderful time exploring bays and wot not and having family fishing time whilst I'm pretty sure after 20 minutes DD2 will be well and truly bored whilst DD1 likes to recast every 30 seconds which annoys the heck out of OH. More interestingly I'm not sure quite what his plans are when the DDs need the loo because DD1 is far too girly to hang her bum over the edge in full view of OH or worse a beachful of holiday makers. Was left feeling like a killjoy. Incidentally I am saved the in boat boredom on account of having acute water related travel sickness. Just the bob bob bobbing of a canoe on a canal is enough to start me off, add in the fumes from an engine and I puke non-stop for the duration.

Meanwhile the fourlegged fiend has reached a rather bizarre arangement with the one eyed cat. Cat catches rabbit and drops it at feet of hound as gift. Hound then washes rabbit and eats slowly, savouring every last crunchy morsel whilst cat wanders off to find a second bunny and lays in companiable silence next to hound scoffing bunny no. 2 whilst the hound defends both cat and rabbits from the unwanted attentions of the lazy ginger tom from the farm down the road which appears to require much leaping around and shaking of flea infested bunny. Quite why this was taking place on the formly cream carpet in my bedroom is another matter entirely. Now have two large bloodstains to add to the collection of random stains already present. Deloused the carpet and lobbed all the beddding in the wash as a precautionary measure. Will be making sure the doors to the stairs remain firmmly shut at all times.

Today involves a second day as OHs beck and call girl. Have to remeber to collect him from the garage this morning and return him there later in the day. Looks like the weather will be fab so am anticipating a day attaching Land Rover parts to chassis. Will be most miffed if he finds an excuse to avoid this.

Other plans for the day invlove writing to the lovely people at the tax office who have decided to change the please phone us if your income exceeds £75K to a vastly reduced £40K. Assuming the world and his dog recieved the same letter yesterday the likelihood of getting through on the phone is non-existant. Have recieved two payments so far to which we are not entitled and which will need reapaying now that we no longer qualify for child tax credit.

    Hi Moo

At times I really do wonder what goes through a man's brain!!
My DH has decided that he needs a run around for work as the truck he brought on ebay last year uses too much diesel, no matter how many times I tell him that I am now working 4 days a week in the same town and he can use my car (which handily also reduces my parking bill :T) he still keeps looking at Autrotrader and all those sorts of sites!!

I did question where he might get the money from and he is not sure, well neither am I and as I now help him manage his bank account and I have just reconciled it there certainly is no spare money in 1000 miles of his account!!!

The tax credits phone call should really wait - maybe wait until nearer 8 o clock tonight - it might be quieter.

I am expecting the letter next year as next year the limit drops to £23,000 and of course we are over that but obv under £40,000 limit so hoping to pay all debts this year before it happens and I have to manage on just wages

Hope you have a fun day and more bits of Landrover make it outside!!!

    EE
  • Many many thanks moo, after reading about Hatton garden metals on your thread i lloked them up and sent off some broken bits of jewellery and have recieved £65 into paypal from them today, well chuffed.

Or would it be another thing that was bought and never used?

DD1 is rather fearful of capsizing and drowning and got told thats her own fault for being scared of water when she went for swimming lessons. Could have cheerfully thumped him at that point. Yes not helpful thing to say at all. But something that needs to be overcome at some point. Good luck with that one.

I take it none of this spoilt his fantasy of happy bonding time.

Was left feeling like a killjoy. No you were left feeling like the only adult in the relationship AGAIN.

Like I said make it a condition of purchase that he sells the landrover and all associated parts.....By the way was this boat idea alchohol fueled?

I don;t know whether to be :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:or :eek::eek::eek:. But I can't imagine that it was very nice to see. On the other hand it might save you a fortune in dog food, and will stop your veggies getting munched by bunnies. Or is that a little too much trying to see the positive?

How can they expect people to suddenly cope with a drop like this. I would imagine it is going to be really hard for some people
good luck with getting sensible ness to reign about this.

    Morning all.

Spent yesterday doing paperworky things and have written to the pet insurance company via the vets to reclaim the outstanding £60 from April. Tried doing it the lazy way and failed. Hopefully I'll hear back from them shortly.

Have also written to the tax people. Got most confused by the on-line calculator. It starts off so simply. Add together your combined income before deductions. Then deduct pensions which aren't deducted via your salary.... then deduct gift aided donations (which of course I've kept a record of) and finally deduct any out of pocket expenses related to your job which haven't been reimbursed and don't relate to daily travelling. Surely they'd be better off asking you to pick a figure out of thin air, double it, triple it, divide by your waist size. Add this to your bra size and then write down the first number you thought of on Tuesday. Its all rather ridiculous. Heres hoping the tax office simply reach the conclusion that we're no longer entitled and we owe them money rahter than sending me a whole heap of forms to fill in.

OH recieved a phone call from Hatton Garden Metals which left him rather bemused. I have to phone them at some point to discuss the content of my rather snarly e-mail asking why theres a penalty clause for sending in non gold and silver metals when they claim there are no hidden charges. Stuff like that really really irritates me.

E-bay bidding has now reached the heady heights of £15 with 6 days to go. OH seems to have changed his mind about the boat.

In more shocking news project Landrover has a rear axle and a propshaft and something approaching fully fitted suspension. Obviously the list of bits which aren't as good as OH thought when he boxed them five years ago is growing rather rapidly but the pile of stuff in the house is shrinking. However OH is convinced the engine is in the wrong place and is planning to remove and refit that later today along with the gear box. Will assume at some point he'll notice that the gear box is connected to the prop shaft, the prop shafts connected to the axle and the axles connected to the chassis which means nothing whatsover will move. Hopefully I'll be elsewhere when that occurs.

In and amongst all this he washed up, did a load of laundry and even remembred to hang it out. I'm still in shock. Spent the evening riding a rodeo bull interspersed with a bit of skipping, raging bull avoidance and traying to avoid being eaten by lions whilst the DDs perfected their ninja swordfighting technique. Its not quite what I expected when I ordered My Fitness Coach Dance Workout for the Wii.

Was planning to head for the hills and wander round the park with the hounds but I have a feeling my presence will be required on the drive. Still it is clearing stuff out of the house. I must think positive thoughts. Really I must.

I think Hatton are probably the best of a bad bunch. Problem is its a buyers market and unless every piece you have is hallmarked and you weigh them acurately to the nearest miligram then you're taking a bit of a gamle anyway. I got more than I was expecting for what I sent in, I'm just a bit miffed that I was penalised without an explanation as to what that was. If it was afiver to cover their time then thats fine but £50 is a whole other ball game. I'm more than happy with what I got and will be using them again.

Stupid stupid stupid girl. Just deleted myself by closing multiple tads at once. I must not try to do too many things all at the same time which is why I'm not going to spend today doing housework when I could be repairing schools sack trolley in anticipation of a very very long day lifting and shifting in readiness for tonights school fayre.

Have withdrawn £50 from the magic hole in the wall to cover everything this weekend. Need it to stretch to cover feeding the DDs tonight and tomorrows riding lesson and village fete as well as a cuppa in peace whilst they do their marital arts gradings and an Aero because one of schools really shy children has finally agreed to do his first ever grading on the proviso that if he doesn't enjoy it then its all my fault and I'll be tap dancing at the next martial arts class whilst playing the piano, singing a song and juggling with live monkeys. If he does enjoy it then we're sharing the Aero.

Progress continues on project Landrover which now has a secure engine and gear box and a front axle and suspension system. More boxes and greasy lumps of metal have exited the house never to return. Obviously this means I now have to clean up the piles of dog hair, sand and cat biscuits that they were covering up but not today because today is insanely busy as it is.

Am having wierd and wonderful thoughts and wondering if its possible to make a grand on E-bay considering that I've already listed anything that isn't nailed down and quite a lot that is. Would make me be even more ruthless than I already have been with the great chuck out and a grand would see off an eighth of the remaining debt. Assuming I aimed to do that this side of Christmas which is vaguely 25 weeks away thats "only" £40 a week... which is admitedly more like £45 before E-bay fees. Am thinking perhaps its a bit mad but not totally out of the question. Especially as I can list 100 items at 99p each month without charge... not that I actually want to list 100 items a month because that would result in a one-way trip to the loony bin.

Escaped for lunch with impecable timing. It was decreed that gazebos were not required and so the stuff for the stalls was duly dumped out in the open. The heavens opened just as I pulled onto the drive. Am rather glad I escaped when I did. Only have about a quarter of the usual donations so hopefully things will be over even sooner than normal. Have to remember to collect DD1 from a disco at 9:30. No chance of forgetting to drop her off since she'll remind me every five minutes from about 3:30.

Came home to meet a freecycler only to find hes a no show. My third of the week. Can't even give stuff away at the mo. Its most infuriating.

Just popping in to say fab news about the decluttering :T but pah! to no shows. You can do it with the £1000 target for e-bay - definitely - it's always surprising when you think you've decluttered everything possible and then find more stuff to put on - unless that's just me
