Didn't make it to B&Q in the end, not that it matters since OH went there on his way home and purchased the things hes decided are required and spent almost two thirds again what I would have spent simply by purchasing an additional quarter sheet of plyboard which cost a fiver less than the full sheet. I would have reverted back to my original measurements had I realised how expensive that little bit was going to be. Rather ammusingly hes now pointed out just how long its going to take to make and how little time I actually have to do it in considering all the other things I have on and the simple fact that I will not use any of the powertools on my own because I'm petrified of maiming myself or not paying the DDs enough attention. However its a bit late to realise this now.

Roofers finally showed up yesterday afternoon and spent more time obtaining tiles than they did patching the roof. At least we're watertight now. Am also awaiting a quote for replacing the entire roof over the summer which is not going to be cheap but which is becoming increasingly necessary.

Project box is nearing completion already. It has six precision cut sides with curved corners, apparently all thats left is to cut off the lid, add some hinges and something or other to the inerior to guarantee it stays square. After that it needs holes cutting for rope handles and several coats of varnish. My contribution to this has been rather minimal. OH made more progress in the hour that the DDs and I were at the vets than he did with us hindering him all day. He seems to be enjoing himself though.

The hound from hells paw is well and truly healed and we can start walking her again. Its going to be another few weeks until its completely repaired so we'll still need to take it easy. Am most glad of the insurance though since something that minor still racked up several hundred pounds of treatment. Need to write a grovelling letter to the insurance company in the hopes they'll pay out the last little bit from the supplied invoices rather than waiting for the claim number and submitting additional claim forms which need completing by the vet.

Am now off work until Tuesday whoop whoop. Am vaguely thinking about a visit to the beach before the summer dog ban starts although that will have to be either today or tomoorow as OH is back to work on Sunday. Also need to visit a food outlet for the essentials since we're out of milk and getting rather low on bread again. Was hoping to eek it out until the middle of next week but thats looking highly unlikely. Finances would be so much better if I did. May attempt a basketless grab and go at Lidl that way I can't pick up and more than I can carry which usually stops the unnecessary extras leaping into a trolley.

Have two weeks to find three ridiculous hats since Granny has decreed that her 60th will be a charity fundraiser in lieu of birthday presents and all guests will wear silly hats. This is another reason for a visit to the seaside but would require a trip to one of the touristy destinations which means travelling considerably further afield. Did have a rummage in schools loft yesterday but couldn't find anything. Am considering making them from papier mache but am clueless what to make which makes knowing where to start rather difficult. Would be far more fun than buying them though. Bet I'll find something fab in a charity shop although would have to leave that until next week when normality resumes.

OHs is still doing remarkably well. Hes back to drinking regularly but is keeping it to alternate days and is much nicer for it. Most noticable is the reduction in his waistline to the point that his belt needs new holes cutting to reduce its size. His trousers are still too tight but theres considerably less overhang involved and the seams are straining as much. As an added bonus hes not smoking as much either which means hes not coughing as much and his skin is looking much better too. He seems far more enthusiastic about doing things and is even joining in when the DDs pay Just Dance despite claiming to hate it.

Spent most of Friday covered in sawdust. Was allowed to sand OHs box but was kept firmly away from the power tools with the exception of the sanders. Didn't do much other than sand all sodding day. I hate sanding.

Came indoors and decluttered the kitchen drawer since chucking out some of the contents was the only way it was going to shut after the DDs rummaged around in it looking for something. Discovered a £6 off a £40 spend at Mr Ts expiring at midnight last night. Put my sensible head on and decided to purchase the bare essentials after the DDs riding lesson sticking formly to my shopping list with no deviation whatsoever.... or at least that was the plan.

Saturday was gloriously sunny so I departed the house in shorts and a miniscule t-shirt only to discover the riding school had its onwn microclimate, one with gale force winds. Ended up looking like someone had stuffed giant tic tacs where my nibbles would previously have been located. Coupled with the goosebumps and the lily white blue tinged legs this was not a good look.

Went to the freezer section of Mr Ts to warm up. Purchased everything on the list but hadn't reached the heady heights of £40. Go me! DD1 reminded me that she'd outgrown most of her jumpers so we ventured into the clothing section but couldn't find any. We did however come across Wii Zumba at £19 which is a whopping £4 cheaper than I was planning to pay on Amazon. Needless to say one leapt into my trolley like a lemming off a cliff. It should be noted at this point that maths is clearly not my strong point despite a fist full of A-levels to the contrary. Total spends in Mr T £74. Quite how that happened is a mystery.

Arrived home to find OH happily painting away. Box needs another couple of coats and a bit of sanding before hes happy with the final finish which is my job for the afternoon. Oh the responsibility of it all!

Ventured out for the afternoon to purchase the finishing touches for the box and returned home with a new router (OHs third) as well as the stuff I need to make the dodgy loos work before school starts again on Wednesday. A quick trip to Macro to take advantage of the posh loo roll promotion saw me blowing a further £50 in the blink of an eye. Fortunately over half of that is stuff for school which I'll claim back on Tuesday. Also have a commercial flykiller for the house which is doing a fab job of zapping the wee beasties before they make it as far as the kitchen. Whilst the kitten is doing a reasonable job of keeping the flies at bay he seems hellbent on destroying anything in his path as he hurls himself at random at his mobile targets.

Spent the evening, rather predictably, attempting to get to grips with Wii Zumba. Far easier said than done. Firstly its operated by mounting the remote in a giant velcro belt which according to the US users fits hips to to 50" which is fab if you've got hips. Sadly neither DD1 or I do and the belt is too big for either of us. Not to be detered we improvised with rather a lot of huricane proof clothes pegs. Such an attractive look! Next problem came with the wiimote pointing at the ceiling which means you have to bend your hips and wiggle your bum about rather a lot just to get the start menu on the screen. At this point we discovered that laughing triggered the B button on the rear of the Wiimote and the thing went off on one making its own decisions at random. Finally managed to get it together enough to do the first tutorial, twice, but were almost as clueless after it as we were when we started. Gave in and started the first routine which lasts for 20 minutes whether you like it or not. Unlike Just Dance Zumba rewards enthusiasm rather than co-ordination which is just as well since neither of us have any. OH was killing himself laughing but declined to join in. Can't think why. The routines quickly progress from v. easy to completely impossible in the blink of an eye. The instructors feet seem to swoosh and glide whilst DD1 and I tripped up over our own feet and bumped into each other rather a lot. We did improve rather quickly though. Its much more like a workout than Just Dance simply because you don't have to stop and stand around between songs. That said you don't get chance to stop for a drink either. I was breathing rather heavily afterwards although not as heavily as OH who tried v. hard to persuade me that it would be far more fun if I was attempting the belly dancing routine in my birthday suit. Eeek.

Am up early so will be giving it another go this morning in the hopes that it will be easier to follow whats going on when DD1s head isn't constantly getting in the way. Will also be moving the furniture since the minimum space required is about treble whats currently available. In fact some of the routines would benefit from a space about 6 metres wide.

Further plans for the day involve chaufeuring DD1 to a shooting competition which is as good an excuse as any to take a book and enjoy the sun.
