B****R what a nightmare. Hope that the horse pills did the trick. And why, might I ask, are you still doing all that housework when you are ill? Get the others sorted, sit in the chair and give muffled commands from that sore mouth of yours. If you cant call in favours now when can you? Big hugs. I hope it doesnt stop you from your book reading time.

Ummm it wasn't a lot of housework m'lud and lighting fires myself is preferable to explaining why the DDs have singed eyebrows to their class teachers. OH swapped his hours round so that he was here all day in case I needed chaufeuring about or the DDs needed collecting from school. Would have felt far worse had I phoned in sick purely because I hate sitting around feelig sorry for myself. He did do most of the ironing and shrank the tree a little bit more but generally he just kept out of my way because I've been a right grumpy biatch.

Still at least feeling so carpy means I've stayed away fromt he PC and all forms of on-line shopping. Also look too hideous to venture out in public so spending has been v. minimalistic. More shockingly the credit card bill of doom arrived with a sub-£600 balance. Was most impressed by this even though £600 is still far more than it needs to be, at least its heading in the right direction.

Attempted to watch yesterdays Live budget but found it far too depressing. Seemed to be what one hand gave the other hand taketh away..... things like the nice chancellor reducing fuel tax for consumers only to slap the fuel companies with a huge tax instead which means that we'll still end up paying ridiculous amounts for fuel. Does the chap really think that we're that thick? I mean really?

Plans for today involve slurping down more packets of OHs incredibly overpriced bland tasting Oat So Simple Winter Pudding porridge. Managed six sachets of the stuff yesterday purely because I had to eat something. Clearly its not enough although it does constitute a little over half of the average adults daily calorie intake. Consuming that was marginally better than not eating at all but not by much.

Further plans involve killing time until visiting the dentist with as little pain as possible. Although it doesn't feel as painful this morning. Can only assume thats because the stuff I took at 3am has yet to wear off. OH has swapped his shift again so hes here all day today just in case theres anything he can do to make me feel better. Just having him around is v. nice.

Spent half an hour in the torturers chair being stabbed, prodded, poked and stabbed a bit more. Had x-rays taken and a whole lot more stabbing done. It appears I have the mother of all abcesses spread under three teeth which explains why its as painful as it is. Had to endure having the most painful of the teeth filed down so that it no longer touches the opposing row of teeth when my mouth is shut which has alleviated some of the pain. Its 50/50 whether this is an infected gum needing no further treatment beyond a course of antibiotics or nerve death within a tooth needing an extraction in the not too distant future as antibiotics will only provide v. short term relief. Oh joy. Antibiotics are working remarkably quickly though and my face isn't quite as swollen. Managed to eat a banana yesterday. Do I know how to live dangerously or what. Suffering from constant headaches but unsure whether this is from tooth associated pain or lack of food or a combination of the two.

Will try to eat more today. Don't think I can handle another day with a 1200 calorie intake when I usually eat at least double that. Seems rather strange that my stomach doesn't feel empty even though v. little has gone into it and what has gone in has been v. squishy and in teeny portions. I think I'm going to find eating a normal sized portion of food a bit challenging at the point I can manage to chew. Problem now comes in that I'm not in the slightest bit hungry and am eating just because I know I have to.

Got bored of feeling sorry for myself v. quickly yesterday and spent the majority of the morning in a climbing harness belaying limbs from the tree. Had a couple of narrow misses with the shed roof but have eradicated all major limbs. Just have the main trunk to get rid of. Problem comes in that its v. generously proportioned with a 3 foot diameter which widens in places to nearer 4 feet. Unfortunately the wider sections can only be reached from v. high ladders which is not somewhere you want to be whilst wielding a chainsaw. The trunk itself is too rotten to rope onto and there are too many immovable things in the way to fell it in large chunks. Don't think we can risk dropping it in any more than 8 foot sections although I'd be happier in 4 foot chunks since the weight involved is significantly less although the length of time spent at height is then greatly increased. Need to get rid of the debris created yesterday before we can go any further which will at least give me something to do today.

DD2 has a birthday party tonight so will need to dig out a prezzie from the stash of dusty stuff in the cupboard that I bought because it would com in handy..... eventually.

Meh. Should have phoned in sick today. Instead I went in early so that the builders who are revamping the toilets could get the noisy things over and done with before the kids came into class. After much crashing and banging they'd dismantled the toilet cubicles ready to go in the skip.

They then set to work with an angle grinder removing the more stubborn door hinges and wot not and in the process managed to set fire to the carpet in the hall way. Unfazed by this they then progressed to disconnecting the water supply and hacking through the water pipe to remove the toilet fittings.

Obviously most normal people would turn off the water and then turn on the tap to see what happened but this particular bunch of cowboys decided to bypass that stage thus resulting in the flooding of the bathroom and the connecting corridor.

Since these things tend to happen in threes I decided it was only sensible to scarper as fast as humanly possible leaving the boss to deal with all further catastrophies. I don't get paid enough to deal with that much stupidity in one day.

    Moo -

much sympathy on the tooth pain - when I grew a cyst under one of mine that eventually resulted in root canal & hospitalisation ... I was one step ( & a lot of alcohol) away from delving into my tool box & self treating !

Enjoy the rest of your day off :)

Have received two huge boxes from the postie. One contains a single packet of crisps wrapped in bubble wrap and swimming in a sea of polystyrene noodles, the other my e-bay goodies which is proof that people really should be a bit more careful about the way they list stuff.

I splurged with a £5 bid (the minimum) and £3.99 in postage. The actual postage was a whopping £7.06 and the contents are all new and sealed and still available on the Lakeland Website where I'd have spent considerably more (apparently a rather ridiculous £30.04.. not that I'd actually have spent that...) although the descriptions do leave something to the imagination. Some of the stuff was obvious thanks to the enlarging of the photo. Others left me a bit bemused. It appears that "plastic filters" are actually disposable icing bags... or at least thats what the big label on the outside of the pack says... Opened a box within a box to find stuff that hasn't even been included on the listing. Will relist the stuff I don't want on e-bay which should cover my outlay. It also gives me a dozen Country Market approved jars and lids which will allow me to dabble a little to see if Country Marketing is as easy as I'm led to believe. Either way its an excuse for a bit more jam making although I'm still waiting for the rhubarb to shoot up enough for me to start cropping it and I still need to source some sensibly priced vanilla pods.
