Survived yesterday. Spent the afternoon in an imitation American one shop wonder that stocks absolutely everything apart from food all crammed under one roof. In and amongst the fab bargains were some seriously overpriced things too. Came across some summer weight non-sweat waterproof trousers for DD1 that we haven't been able to get our hands on anywhere else, they didn't have her size but they're trying to get hold of a pair for her so will wait to see. Mostly the stuff was too wacky for words but have ended up with one of these and a collar from the puppy who will be coming home mucho earlier than expected as mum is losing interest in the litter, no chance of her putting up with them for the full 12 weeks.

Watched The Wedding Singer on tv last night, had forgotten how truly awful it was. loved the soundtrack though, its possibly the only thing worth enduring the film for. OH was not impressed. Makes a change from war films and CSI though.

Plans for today include clearing up after the slob that is OH can't believe just how messy he is. There are wet towels and trails of dirty clothes everywhere and yet he complains at the mess the DDs make. Need to dig something out of the freezer for dinner as I can't get away with feeding them all saugases for the third night in a row. Was vaguely considering a trip to the cinema to see this mornings 95p kids showing but am not awake enoough to do much yet.

Wasted half an hour inputting details from Visa reciepts dating back to March 1st in the hopes of winning much goodness from the current Visa 2012 promotion. Amazed how many I had despite my claims of frugality.

If I can refrain from any unplanned spending between now and the end of the month I'll come in under budget for the first time since January which is most definately an improvement on last months £557.03 overspend. Not a hope in hell of being sub 15K by Easter though but not that far from it either.

Might not be a waste....I'm £70 to the good from that promotion and one of the girls on the comps board is going to South Africa from it!

Visited work briefly to put the first coat of polish on the floor. It smells lovely although as it was drying you could see all the bits I'd missed despite me being very very careful. Will put the second coat on later. Bit of a pain having to go back and forth but at least its two hours less to do next week and I can take advantage of all the extra space in the wheelie bins to assist in the mamoth decluttering that I'm supposed to be doing but faling miserably with.

Today is the first day of the hols and so when the alarm went off I leapt out of bed, turned it off and leapt straight back under the duvet for another five minutes. One hour and five minutes later awoke again. needless to say was just a bit disorganised first thing. Got the DDs out of bed, into clothes and out of the door in rapid time clutching toasted bagels in their hands. Figured hairbrushing and the like could wait an hour or so as could my breakfast. Made it to work on time v. glad that the only person to clap eyeballs on me in this rather dishevelled state was an equally grubby septuagenarian builder. Pottered around for a couple of hours doing random bits and pieces and then headed home. Much like any other day really other than the lack of food or a shower.

Got home to find that the bin men had been, wasn't expecting them until tomorrow so hadn't lobbed my usual couple of bricks from the slowly shrinking pile in the front garden in. Aw well. Its going to take me at least another decade to shift the pile thats there at a rate of two bricks a fortnight.

DD1 has tidied her bedroom. Still waiting to find out why. I fear it may be expensive. Disposed of a small table and moved an armchair into another room which has suddenly made the whole house bigger. Also evicted Sally the Spider from her ginat cobweb. Cat had much fun chasing Sally across the floor. Sadly Sally is no more.

OH spent yesterday evening re-wiring a new boiler at a neighbouring farm after their professional boiler installer failed to make it work. Got to see their v. cute Weimaraner puppies and DD1 got to have a quick cuddle. They're not much bigger than guinea pigs and still have their eyes shut.

Have to remember to go back to school later to put out their wheelie bins on the off chance that they've rescheduled due to the bank holiday and things are a day early there too.

Plans for today extend as far as more laundry and more pottering about doing domestic chores in the hopes of the place being vaguely clean and tidy when the wrinklies appear on Saturday. It does seem to be getting a little tidier which is not surprising considering all the tat I've rehomed recently. Still seem to have far too much dusty stuff that we really don't need not that OH is prepared to part with his bar towel collection. Wish he'd restart project Landrover as that would clear so much carp out. We seem to have two or in some cases three of everything.

  • Hi moo

I'm back - will do an update on my diary. Suffice to say BT are a bunch of !!!!!, my internet is on and everything is fine.

Glad to see life in the moo household is continuing unchanged!!

I had to laugh when I saw your post about your messy OH, my OH is just the same. Some things which I have been doing/have done to try and combat this is:

In our last house I tidied the lounge (once a week job) and left all my husband's clothes in the middle of the floor for him to trip up. There were 5 pairs of jeans, numerous t-shirts and jumpers. He was quite surprised that he had been leaving things about as he always thought it was me or the children!!
He is now much better in the lounge but not the bedroom.

Now we are living with an extra family member the lounge is perfect so his clothes get left all over the bedroom floor instead. So when I tidy the bedroom I get all his clothes off the floor and put them on his side of the bed so he has to sort them before he can get into bed!! This is gradually working.
Yesterday he said to our DD that his jumper smelt because he had left it festering on the floor and so it had not been washed!! (She had asked why it smelt funny!) Me thinks he is learning but it may take time!

When he has a bath he leaves all his clothes on the bathroom floor even though the laundry basket is just outside the door!! So instead of picking it up for him I left it there and didn't wash it. On Sunday I confirmed to everyone that anything not left in laundry baskets would not get washed until at least next weekend (washing done on weekends) providing it was in the laundry baskets - cue lots of stampeding up the stairs to get clothing sorted!!!

Also in the evenings he lounges around watching TV, eating everything and leaving the rubbish on the floor. So the next morning when he got up I asked him if he recognised the rubbish, of course he knew it was his and made some comment that he could do better!!!

I sound like such a horrible wife but I have to get him trained as we both work full time and it is too much for one person. Our DD is just the same she will take her clothes off anywhere and leave them - she must take after her dad cos I am perfect!!!

Hi EE. I've tried all that and more and have reached the conclusion that he is v. stobborn and possesses far too many clothes. Even went as far as to dump all his dirty laundry on his side of the bed so that I could vac the floor only to find him sound asleep under the duvet and the additional layers of chunderpants. Not pretty. Still on occasions such as this I can escape to DD1s truckle bed and change the bedding the following day. Have reached the point where its far easier just to collect everything up as I pass it.

Someone slap me around the chops with a wet kipper. I need some bits to repair a toilet at work and Screwfix is the cheapest place for them so the boss has generously siad I can top up the order to £40 in order to get free shipping... which is actually £50... which in theory should be a doddle and hes even given me the "send the invoice the school" account number to help me on my way. Keep finding I'm going Crivens thats expensive and so is that and that.... and I'm not paying that much for one of those.... have managed to put £5 of frivolous things in the vitual basket so far which includes a screwdriver and some of those coloured bits of plastic that you shove in the hole you've drilled to stop the screw falling out.

You'd have thought with a 1000 page catalogue to assist me this would be easy but its not. I get the feeling I'm going to end up driving to the trade counter instead. It does mean that my duties also include those of a peronal shopper although I usually only get as far as the village shop to purchase things, most recently that was for 90 pints of milk after the milkman forgot to turn up. Looked a right banana wheeling them all about in schools wheelbarrow but anythings easier than handing over a perfecly good parking space vaguely near 9am.
