If somebody seriously assaulted or murdered my child, I would probably kill them regardless of the legal consequences. I wouldn't care any longer.
which is a perfectly valid response. but the point of the justice system is to stop this from happening. if you just let people carry out their own sense of justice you end up living in neanderthal times.
what would you do if your child seriously assaulted or murdered someone? Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
if anyone here had a daughter, and she started seeing a new boy - lets say Bob Smith, and they got on well and you invited him into your home and then, after a while, they get serious and decide to get married, and the powers that be then say "actually you have the right to know that this bloke killed Jamie Bulger" would you be pleased? or would you be pleased if it was kept from you? What if he later murdered or attacked your daughter or grandchild?
Its a messy business and one that could be avoided by having him locked up for life.0 -

Venables family appeared to be less so (perhaps because they stuck around) but his prior behaviour seems to have been very disturbed and show at least some of the indicators that would be looked for to suggest either mental illness, or abuse in some part of his life.0 -

if the state properly punished the murderer, then the parent wouldn't get the chance. if they let them out after a measly 8 years, what do they expect???0 -
One thing that confuses me. If I apply for a job I have to disclose any convictions, no matter how minor, until the conviction is spent. Even minor convictions will stop me entering certain professions for life. Are these men able to apply for jobs without telling their employer about their violent past?Been away for a while.0

i guess so. the "new person" can't say "hello, i'd like to work in your shop, btw i have a conviction for killing a child, and no, it wasn't bulger (it was)".
i think it is more likely that now these two are out they will simply live on benefits and sponge off the state. can you really see them working??????
and if they do work, why should their colleagues not have the right to know they have a child murderer amongst them????? what if someone brings their child to work and leaves them with him for a while???0 -

Personally I consider you one very sick and deranged individual and thank the lord I don't have to live next to you:D
Maybe you should have to make your real identity public hereon because I certainly would want to be warned if something as totally abhorent and disgusting as you was coming to my neighbourhood;)
I never for one moment said they were model citizens and should be treated as such. Just that however much you might want to deny the fact, they were VERY young human beings at the time that they committed this crime and appeared to have less than satisfactory home environments and lots of anger management issues arising from them. I agree entirely that their crime was heinous! I just do not wish to bring myself and the rest of humanity down to their level (or yours) in murdering criminals in some kind of retribution and revenge cycle."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -

i think that convictions as a minor are seen differently or are spent earlier. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
this is the problem with society - the "enlightened" lefty cancer has riddled the body. the lefty is more dangerous than the criminals they seek to protect and excuse.
nothing is a bigger danger to mankind than the smug, self righteous lefty moron.
the best thing for this country is a more right leaning dictatorship. that dictatorship will have a panel of lefties, who they will ask to make all decisions, and then do the opposite. that way, society will flourish. Here is an example:
Oh panel of idiot lefties, these boys have tortured, sexually abused and murdered this toddler. What shall we do?
We have decreed a holiday camp type existence of study, arts and crafts and all these things decent people pay for, and then after 8 years, they can go scott free and be hidden from every decent person at massive expense, paid for by those very same decent people we are hiding them from! however, we have one more trick up our lefty sleeves, if they commit another crime, they will go to prison!!
ok then, so we lock them up for life and throw away the key. brilliant. oh panel of idiot lefties, one question. if any of us commit a crime like hoarding child !!!!!! won't we go to prison anyway?
Yes! This is why we are the council of idiot lefties. That Hitler, he was abused as a child. Its not his fault....
Ok enough now Council Of Idiot Lefties.0 -
Mr Ed seems to be on form 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0
