So saying stealing a pen from work or going 2mph over the speed limit are not crimes means that you don't understand the definition of what a crime is.The_White_Horse wrote: »I think we have to think of the gene in terms of a violent streak and/or a low morals.
And by whose standard are you saying morals are low? Yours? The church or whatever religions?The_White_Horse wrote: »As i say, it is a common sense thing. Anyone with a brain knows that murdering a baby is wrong, whereas going 32 in a 30 zone is not "wrong" per se. It is only wrong because of a man made arbitrary rule.
In some countries people get away with killing street children because those countries don't recognise street children's lives as being worthwhile. In this country if a body of a child was found and that child was found to be living on the street then there would be steps to track down the murderer.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

The man made 'arbitary' rule was made on the basis of research that shows that people are more likely to have accidents if they go faster. The results of some of those unnecessary accidents is likely to be that children get killed. Hence, speed limits.
Many more children get killed by car accidents than by 'murderers'.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

The mantra goes something like this...
If you hit a pedestrian at 30mph there is an 80% chance of survival
At 40mph there is a 90% chance of killing a pedestrian
They should add...
At 60mph there's a good chance that you will have passed by before the dumba55 pedestrian steps out into your road. A road that was built for cars to travel on using money from car drivers.
The problem with speeding laws is that they are policed by idiots. The police are more interested in collecting revenue than administering road safety.
If Thompson and Venables had driven their victim to the railway perhaps the police would have caught them. I wonder how many police officers were sat pointing a speed camera at drivers drifting above 30mph while little James was being murdered.

Generally speaking I have to laugh when people whine about 'lefty morons' etc., as one must remember that it's the previous right-leading governments (Conservative and Nu-Labour), that have brought this Country nothing but misery for the past 3 decades.Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0

Exactly! Its amusing that White horse has so much anger at 'lefties' yet the murder occured during Thatchers reign of power , one of the most right wing governments we have had. They were also sentanced under the tories.0 -

Well said.
Personally, I find it distasteful that WH is using this case to further his own political agenda. It's annoying that it's also remained on this board, instead going to the Arms, where it belongs.0 -

the govt has nothing to do with it - it is the courts and sentencing which is a lefty preserve. The social workers, the prison services - all run by lefties.
whose idea do you think it was to give these murderers 8 years and not let them into an adult prison? it wasn't maggie - it was dim wit left wing liberal fool who now has blood on his hands.0 -
it was a couple of years ago that I heard the head of the prison "service" call the prisoners her "clients".
hateful lefty scum bag, indulging these people whilst they laugh in our face.
each cell should be completely empty, no bed, no sheets, no nothing. If you want a bed, you get a job go down to Dreams, or wherever you like and buy one. Then sleep on it. If you want to kill or rape or steal then don't think the tax payer will provide bedding for you.
completelty empty cells. perhaps save for a length or rope and a hook.
i would save the taxpayer loads of money by abolishing suicide watch for a start. what a waste of money that is.0 -

How times have changed in the light of the Madeleine disappeance and our now ridiculously judgemental society.
This thought would have been unthinkable at the time as everyone assumed the toddler just slipped loose from his mother's grasp. Now someone actually wondered for a moment if some of the blame can be laid at that poor mother's door and like the McCanns, we should not pity her if this was indeed the case.
What a nonsense. First, I remember James Bulger going missing, & subsequently being found.
Just slipped from his mothers grasp eh? Can you see her on the CCTV footage as the lads took him away? No. Why? Where was she? How far away was she?
Do you feel she has no responsibility? I'd argue she has some responsibility.
Pity the Mccanns? Not a chance. Going out for a jolly meal leaving kids alone, in a foreign country, as they're an inconvenience. I don't know how they can look each other/themselves. They should be ashamed. The meal & their friends were more important than their childrens well being.
Their falseness in front of the cameras was sickening. The show they put on.
If they loved her that much, they wouoldn't have put her at risk.
They did.
Every choice we make has consequences. The consequences of theirs should involve at the very least a social services investigation into their fitness as parents, and their negligence. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
