Il probably do it in a few weeks time, but whats the badness about it?
As far as i was aware its just that you have to do a 2week work trial at a company,
but you get paid an extra £3 per day for lunch money, plus upto £10 per day travel money.
Don't get whats so bad about that? Sounds fun to me as i get to do a 2week work trial in a job where i dont have to care about the boss or stuff cos i dont actually work there,
its only for 2weeks,
and i could get to meet some fit girls who work there even.
Il probably arrange my own work trial though and just do my 2weeks working in a charity job, instead of some crappy job that im not interested in.
new deal isnt just a 2 week work trial. you have either performed a miracle by not ever doing it or you are not telling us the whole truth about your situation. the old new deal which still exists in some areas involved spending 13 weeks or 26 weeks on a course were you worked 4 days a week at a company and did 1 day a week in a centre. the flexible new deal which now exists in some areas including mine is were you spend 12 months on the course and do 4 weeks work placement. the rest of the time you have to do what ever type of course or training your advisor thinks is needed. you dont get the £15 trianing allowance anymore. on the 4 week work placement if you had even something like the 19th day off sick you would then start the full 4 weeks again. the companies that run the course get paid on results so they will push people into taking any kind of job going. if you dont they have the authority to sanction your benefit.
ps i forgot a couple of other differences. with the old new deal you got refered onto it ever 18 months. with the fnd you get refered every 12 months.0 -

I have now been out of work for a1 year. Six months of this was on sick pay for haveing an operation to my shoulder. i now have a metal inplant in my shoulder.
and six months on jobseekers. Which has now stopped so i am still unemployed and NOT RECIVING ANY TYPE OF SUPPORT from the government.
the way it works is you get contribution based jsa for the first 6 months. after that you need to apply for income based jsa. if you have over a certain amount in the bank or you have a partner who is working you dont usually qualify for it.0 -
UnemployedAndLovingIt wrote: »Yeah i looked online for some info about that.
My area is on the flexible new deal so itl be 4weeks work placement.
(i had thought it was 2, but 4weeks is fine).
Ive looked online about it though and have foundout that legally you are allowed to choose your own work placement if you want, and are allowed under the dwp rules to do charity work for the placement.
And so il be doing that.
Apart from those 4weeks though it says you just have your normal 2x per month sign-ons though.
with work placements i have found it depends what the placements like on how bad it is having to do it. a bad one i did was litter picking for the council. i didnt mind it that much but then again i was on my feet from 7.30am to 3pm everyday walking around picking up litter for nothing on a placement were it was obvious they had no intention of considering me for a job. that only lasted 3 weeks anyway. the boss got rid of me claiming i had refused to do something. they had a few of us clearing weeds between the cracks in a pavement. they all had tools and i didnt. so i stood minding the barrow and ready to give an hand to anyone. the boss that was there working disappeared in his wagon and i thought it was fair to assume he took his brush with him. he was behind me so i didnt see that he left it. anyway another boss came along and asked me why i wasnt doing anything. i said because i dont have any tools. he then pointed to the brush the other boss had left without telling me. so i started useing it. the next time i was in they sent a young lad in a van to tell me they didnt want me anymore and with no explaination. it was the placement officer at the centre that told me their reason. i ended up going to a charity shop were the manager was great. once we had done the work that needed doing for the day she would let us go. it was rare that would be still there later than lunchtime. sometimes when there wasnt anything to do she would give us the day off. all of this was against the governments rules that stated we must do at least 30 hours a week. that was on the old new deal. one time i had a good placement doing environmental work were we got out and about and were always finished by 2pm. unfortunately that charity is no longer in existence.
anyway back to what you said about choosing your own placement. yes you can to a degree but if there isnt anything you fancy you are stuffed and even if there is if your advisor is a so'n'so they may say you cant do that as there isnt much chance of a job and then they will send you somewhere else you hate were there is no chance of a job.
do you have a link to were you found the info because i have been told what else we do depends on our advisor. we still sign on as normal and we have to see our advisor at least once a fortnight. we also have to attend any course our advisor deems necessary as well. so i am guessing if you come across as being on the ball you may get left alone but if you seem to not have a clue or they dont like you you may get sent doing all sorts.
in a leaflet i was given it says the same rules apply regarding going away. basically that means we are only allowed 10 days away for the whole time we are on the course. i go on fellwalking trips 3 or 4 times a year and am worried i will get problems with them. not including weekends i willl be away for 7 week days this year. i am hoping to do one more long weekend. if they dont include saturdays and sundays i will be fine, otherwise i could have a problem. with the course being part time i dont see why they cant just work around my trips. i guess it will depend on what my advisor is like.0 -
i will just point out if you are applying for 40 jobs a week maybe you should look at your cv and see if it can be approved.
i see no reason why anyone should be unemployed for 3 years surely its better to stack shelves in tescos while looking for the right job.
just my opinion
And have you tried getting a job in Tesco's stacking shelves?
There is a misperception that shelf stacking jobs are ten a penny - the reality is that they are not. Certainly in our local Tesco, you have to 'be in the know' as such jobs are rarely advertised.
Furthermore, the way the jobs market is right now, there are hundreds applying for seemingly menial jobs.
The OP is not doing himself any justice with some of his postings, but I can sympathise to some degree.0 -

i am just trying to see things objectivly rather than rant and rave:)
my point is look at why the op has been unemployed for 3 years.
if the op cv is ok then look at what jobs are avaliable to bridge the 3 year work absence hence the reference to tesco

You'll be getting £400 a month jobseekers. Tax credits of £400 a month. Child benefit of £132 a month. There's £932 a month.we do not get that, be nice if we did. so dont do that red angry face at me. we get about 3-400 a mth, child benefit, rent and tax paid for and job seekers,
Are you for real?????plus the benefits that pay rent are paid straight to council from benefits place, doesnt c us actually.
Why is it every council housing scratter on benefits thinks housing & council tax benefit shouldn't be counted as money received?
It's paid on YOUR behalf as you are on a low income. IF THEY PAID IT YOU YOU & THEN YOU PAID THE COUNCIL WOULD IT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE?????
If you were working then YOU would have to pay it.
Therefore it's something that YOU are costing the taxpayer.
So yes, you do get more income that you think.Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.0 -

i notice it says the work related activity could be training, interview techniques etc and could involve spending the whole time in a classroom. in other words alot like the old new deal. the impression i have always got was that the 4 weeks would be spent working and things like interview techniques would be done during the rest of the 12 months. if this is to be believed then it seems we spend 4 weeks doing stuff and the other 11 months doing nothing.0
