Ohh! I was slow on the take up there.

Or is it 'uptake'. See, I'm getting slower by the minute.

On the subject of washing-up, may I just comment that a bird bath and feeder outside the window makes the experience of washing by hand much more pleasurable.
Yes, busy lives and all that, but even when I worked for a living, finding excuses to slow down and admire for a few minutes was always worthwhile.0 -

Leisure
WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began? A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

I found a stash of nuts in a pile of grass clippings, but as we don't have squirrels here, I'm wondering if it was dormouse.0 -
