Hiya Fuddle and welcome to the nice thread.
Re dishwashers, I could never see the point in them to be honest.....washing up manually only takes a short while and in time spent/money saved comparison to the expenditure of a dish washer and the time taken to load and unload it, the time spent/money saved was the better option.
*Yes, I really do rationalise things like this, it drives my kids up the wall!
Plus it gives the children something to do to earn their pocket money......We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
As I'm the dishwasher, the arguments about how to fill me up are mainly centred around the phrase, "Not curry, again!" :rotfl:
There's that really bad, bad, bad joke about what to do if the dishwasher stops working ......
It's so bad that it's one of the few jokes I can remember.
My favourite joke is still the one-liner:
I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather ..... not screaming in terror, like his passengers. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I think it depends how much washing up you create and method of dishwashing as to how ecological it is.0 -
Back already, I don't like shopping, so couldn't see the point of looking round the town while I was there. So drove there, drove back.0

Surely, only sharp, pointy knives need to be loaded blades downward?
No, unloading and placing correctly in cutlery draw requires all items to be facing the same way. So if some knives are blade downwards, all cutlery needs to be the same.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. 'A' rated dishwashers use minimal amounts of water and so are probably more ecologically sound than hand washing.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It costs more though to have enough stuff to make it worth filling up.
I bought two 19p plates from Ikea last time I moved somewhere, but then got fed up washing up a proper plate when I'd just had a clean cheese sandwich on it .... so next time I was out I bought a pack of 4 rubbery/plastic picnic plates for £1, which worked out better.
Often, washing up would be: One rubbery plate, one fork, one mug.
I use the same mug all the time (I only bought one), so I rinse that out each time I make another coffee.
I used to boil a kettle to do the washing up once every two days.0
