Can I just ask whether other couples argue about how to fill the dishwasher?
No. Because when we've had a dishwasher I let him do it...when he's here. I accede to his submission that he is more talented than I at stacking. I'm fine with plates and cups...I too think you should load from the back. TBH my back makes me a bit lazy about the bottom shelf. I also don't unstack around him because I think its essential to unstack bottom shelf first so that any other person in the kitchen can start reloading the bottom...if you do it the other way round you have to wait till the whole thing is empty.
we don't have a dishwasher atm, but I want one of those ones that has a cutlery drawer not a cutlery basket. You can get a spare drawer and then out the whole clean drawer into a kitchen drawer instead of unpacking. (I hate finding cutlery in the wrong divider in the kitchen drawer.)
I do dislike finding washing up other than one ''layer'' of mugs or similar in the sink. emptying the sink of dirty stuff is depressing and time wasting.0 -

I might venture out tomorrow though....see what's on offer at the local nursery. I really want to find some pots for either side of the front door, but feel guilty at a frivolous spend.
No freezer for these. (see other thread)
Pots needn't be frivolous, if you can eat what they produce. What about a couple of bay trees, or even an upright rosemary or two, to go with the mutton?0 -

Sorry, I was dead to the world last night and our impending sheepies need water, so I'm plumbing today.
If you PM me, I can confirm exactly where we are, and you can pop in for afternoon tea on the way home though.
Edit: We have chocolate rice crispie cakes and chocolate stodge ATM.0 -

I can confirm that it is worth drooling over, having had chops last night as a 'tester'.
So, Dave, what breed of sheep are you getting?“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I'd not choose to get one
I've never used one!
Ex hubby was always on about getting a dishwasher as he didn't like washing up...until I then pointed out that he did the washing up about once a month and I did it the rest of the time!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I've never had one, and only ever feel a slight need for one when the pile acculmulates into a mountain and looks unsightly. It's what you get for being stingy and wash the hole days load with one sink full of water I guess.
Hello nice people0 -
Dishwasher: I would always unpack bottom shelf first so that the cups don't drip water onto the clean plates. But then I wouldn't unpack one shelf and not the other. I've never thought of loading top shelf from the back. I always load cutlery tines and blades downwards to avoid injury.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. hello fuddle, & welcome.:)
Personally, I've never seen the need for a dishwasher. I'm pretty sure it is both easier, quicker & mse-er as well as more ecologically sound to wash dishes et al in the sink.
I finished Ian McEwan's Atonement last night. Interesting novel, a few suprise twists there. Not necessarily a book I'd rave about, that said I read over 130 pages last night, so I must've been into it!:o
Keeping em crossed all day for PN with her interview!:TIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
A fascinating discussion on the merits and uses of dishwashers. And yes we do 'debate' these issues shall I say.
However, I just provide the evidence of bad loading.... if items come out still dirty.0
