I was suprised at how much non-fiction I read recently. I like to try something that is fiction occasionally just so I don't end up in a rut or bored with reading the same kinda stuff.
Plus it has been on the shelf for a long time, & I've heard good reviews too.
<rolls sleeves up & heads towards bookcase...>:)
I gorged on books this week, (my travelling treat is new books)...Got the Long Song, No and Me (which I thought was good), Tiny bit of Marvellous (terribly disappointing) and Parrot and Olivier in America. Then we got some non fiction in Italy...too many to list- ranging from archetecture to cooking and food...a lot of food ones, and too many to carry, the handle on my very smart case ripped off under the weight:oI love travelling because of the book fest but have read enough for a month while travelling back yesterday.

were uggs anything other than awful? I have some fke ones for comfort..much to my own horror. If I were going to buy them ''proper like'' it would be these:http://www.celtic-sheepskin.co.uk/ladies/ladies-sheepskin-boots/celt-knee-boots/ I think. Nice length. A teacher friend of mine loves hers, and they do look good on her so...
I'm a bit grumpy, weather exacerbating my TN, but only on one side of my head ATM- hurrah- otherwise I'm doing better than I have any right toobut how are you?

I'm getting fed up with my neighbours' OTT fireworks. They are more like munitions. And I bet a couple of guys think it's a really great idea to wait until midnight and then have a fireworks display. My upbringing makes me very uneasy about this almost-literally burning money. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

It's not so much my upbringing it's more the cat. She will insist on going out irregardless of the whizz bang outside the garden. Last bonfire night she ended up trapped in a neighbours shed for two days.
I am having a party tomorrow night, huge bonfire and everyone is invited to bring their own fireworks (on account of I am a total cheapskate). I have had every child I know harassing their neighbours for flammable materials. We will likely all get arrested
LIR, I like the jumper better than the boots, arran is so nice. Fortunately I can knit and work is really quiet just now.........Retail is the only therapy that works0 -

Hey, good to see you about WS!
I really dislike Uggs. I don't see what purpose they serve. I live at the top of a really big hill which I have to walk down in the snow and the ones who slide down to the bottom on their asses are those who wear Uggs. Give me a pair of thermal socks and walking boots any day. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I can't knit. Neighbours once set alight to our garden...then house, with a catherine wheel. I can't imagine having them in a ''normal'' urban or suburban setting myself and not dying of the worry.
My cats like fireworks...freaks. They sit on windowsills and watch them with rapt wonder. Haven't so much as heard one here yet.0 -
I own a wee bit of land which includes an even smaller bit of beach, we are doing the whole bonfire thing there. It's a kind of bring your own BBQ kind of night.
I honestly wouldn't bother, I am seriously not sociable, but I find myself with two small girls who I want to be happy.
LIR, knitting is really easy, all you need to know is how to cast on and knit plain and purl. Everything is a variation on a themeRetail is the only therapy that works0 -
Son has won another school art award (again for last term's work, now he's dropped art). Last term it was the Art awards, this term it is the school prize day and he is runner up in the Art department. It's being presented to him and we have a letter instructing us to buy a book, "of lasting worth and interest and likely to provide continuing pleasure". It does not have to be related to Art. We then give the book and receipt to school and they reimburse us and present the book at prize day. Suggested value is £15.
Any ideas? He reads very little, aside from the fact he's doing A level English. Typical 16 year old boy, he said he would prefer a DVD instead!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We've postponed our fireworks to tomorrow night. It's too wet and miserable tonight.
Coo WS, you own a beach (however small). Envy.....0
