It was easier back until late 2007, when EPAs were replaced by two different types of LPAs.
Thanks, I should have realised there'd be changes.
As I recall, it cost us £45 in 2004.....0 -
Because I know it makes Pastures smile, the dog-dog has stolen a cake again...my fault, became serial poster rather than seriously and committedly intermittent one.

Having decided to contact the Russian programmer, I went to his site ...and attempted to find where I could contact him, a form perchance. So I did a search and got some (Russian) results. GREAT! So I translated the search results, which came down to "A million monkeys couldn't find anything relevant..." so I've given up with that then!0

Well, I am finally buying a house.
I feel almost guilty for letting the bears down, especially dopester, who has been very kind and supportive to me.
However, this is the house I want. I've liked it since it first went on the market in 2008 (when I hadn't got any money and couldn't think of buying it). I am looking in a very small area (catchment for a particular school, minus the flood zone across the middle of it) and I want particular features that are hard to find (lots of separate downstairs rooms, and South facing aspect). I've been watching the market in this area of town, and in two and a half years I've seen four houses that have tempted me (two already the size I want and two I would have had to extend). Of those four houses, only one genuinely ticks all my boxes without any necessity for me to do major building work, and this is it. It will suit my needs for the foreseeable future - potentially for decades since I am very happily settled here for the long haul.
The market here is stagnant - prices holding up and the few houses that do sell going for quite high prices, but very low volumes. I am convinced that HP will fall, but I think that the falls will be slower and smaller than average for nice 4-bed detached houses in catchment areas for really excellent schools in pleasant towns. The chances of anything else I would want to buy coming onto the market in the next few months are rather slim, and I am afraid that if prices fall much further supply will dry up even more. Also, I have to move within the next 11 months or so, because I want to be living across that side of town by the time we put in ds's application for secondary school.
I have the opportunity to buy the house I love for £45k less than peak asking, using late-nearly-ex's life insurance payout and a small loan that I can afford to repay.
So, sorry dopester and others, but I am going to buy it and then stop caring what HP do and get on with my life (although probably still dropping in on the "nice people").Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
