Y'know, I don't think I've ever eaten at a Little Chef in my life. I never even seem to see them that much, and I used to travel about quite a lot for my job. Are they proper national or more centred around a certain region?

I've just looked and they are very national and spread out. And one is even 7.9 miles from my house. Maybe they just pass me by for some reason?

On an slightly related note, red and yellow are the two colours that, apparently, make you feel more hungry and are also very noticable. Hence why many fast food chains and 'quick-fix' restaurants have red and / or yellow as their main colour(s).

We did think of that, but (a) we do that every other year (well, mainly, like Sue, nice local hotels so we don't waste time on travelling, or London ones so we can enjoy a rare theatre etc trip too, but we have loads of family holidays in the UK - been to Cornwall, Dorset, Suffolk, Cotswolds, Lake District, Peak District and N Wales in recent years... and I miss Europe and (b) given the cost of UK hotels/meals out, it's not necessarily that mse... ;)

My vote is Roma then :D One place I would love to go to one day.

Is anyone else watching Heston B. on channel Four...I SO want to go to the fat duck.

I watched his interview on Jonathan Ross on catch.
He seems like complicated genius type of bloke.

I am making a wholesale list of what's in stock and it's scaring me as we are scarily low and factory can't keep up at the mo. It's for export too which I love as no VAT.

Also a clearance list for a girl I sell to up north which is stressing me out more as it feels like there is loads of it when 12 left of a 200 docket is nothing really. It's stacked up in clear boxes against the wall opp the walnut bed so I really need to out it as my nice feng shui personal space is polluted and it's cluttering up my head.

Do you think I should do a poll, then? :p

Seriously, I tried looking at mse's very own holiday's board, for inspiration, and found a lovely thread on 'where should I take my gorgeous girlfriend for a romantic weekend?' My favourite answer was 'take her up the aisle', which just sounded kind of rude...

My long list keeps getting longer - I was investigating some of lir's recommendation and kept getting sidetracked via links to things to more and more places. I've now found a bit of Italy called the Italian Riviera which looks rather nice; not sure how accessible it is?

silvercar's mention of Zurich appealed - that's quite high on my list as Zurich is a nice n easy low cost airline hop from airport near us - plus we both love Switzerland. Not been there in about 25 years though. Would you say it was a romantic destination, silvercar?

Italian riveria is lovely...but also filled with octogenarians.

Why not see what deals you can get on hotels? I've had some good successes with lastminute top secret hotels...or peruse the other grown up type hotel/holiday sites for inspiration. Makes one want to spend lots though....

I really, really fancy Morocco. (but obviously too far for you...but ryan air fly there I think.)

I'm with FC, Rome is the destination of choice for me.

Apart from the Forbidden City. I long to go there.

I've heard that Coventry is actually quite overrated.
