Korean cars are really selling first!

My wife had four Nissans in a row - a Bluebird (horrible car, but never let her down despite zero servicing), two Primeras and a Tino.
It was the Tino that drove her to replace it with a Kia Rio (1.5 CRDi) a couple of years ago - what she's got in the Rio is what she used to value in the Nissans before Renault got hold of them. A solid, basic, reliable car.
In two years from new it's had two services and a pair of tyres - and that only because she got a non-repairable puncture. The interior is grey and plasticky, but very well screwed together and still comes up like new. There's a squeak from one of the rear seat catches, which is easily stopped with a bit of grease - that's the full extent of its issues.
Externally - I've just washed it and given it a polish - the finish is as deep and glossy as ever despite being in Blackpool with its salt air and seagulls.
It broke down when it was a week old when the gear linkage came apart - assembly problem, simple fix, no problems since.
She is now a Kia convert - she'd prefer a Cee'd but the Rio does everything she needs.
On top of that - it's £35 tax, and last weekend I did a 200-mile run at legal speeds, but not hanging around getting there - returned 62mpg (does 50ish in town).
It's not a car to get excited about, but it's really earned our respect.Long-haul Supporters DFW 120
