  • 12 hours at the office later, and I'm finally home... :( BUT I've earnt some more pennies by working 3 hours overtime tonight. :)
  • At least you made it to the gym in the evening - I have a nasty habit of thinking of another excuse after work!

Gosh, a long day for you. As you say, you will be pleased when the overtime is finally paid :D.

I've had a good day today. Had a great food MS at lunchtime, came home to find I had won £25 in a competition and sold another superheavy book on Amazon. That's the last of the big textbooks and has cleared out a good half of a shelf on my bookcase. If I keep at tidying and decluttering, it will free up some storage space so the flat doesn't always look such a mess. I am making slow progress but am at least heading in the right direction.

I hope work is OK if you do the overtime this weekend. Can you listen to the radio or have an MP3 player to make it more pleasant? I am away this weekend, so better go and pack!

    Best wishes x
Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

  • It's always nice getting home to 'good' post isn't it! Well done on the £25 win, and the Amazon sale. The only problem with the textbooks is that they cost so much to post, I found that out the hard way at first and ended up making a loss on one.

Yes, we have the radio on low, but to be honest, I turned it off last night and enjoyed the silence! I was on my own for most of the evening at work, so it was a pleasant change and the evening actually flew. I've decided I'm no longer going to work during the day, just come in in the evenings if they all go that quickly! Not sure that will go down well with the boss though! :D

Enjoy your weekend away Chocs x
  • Last night has caught up with me a little and I'm feeling tired this morning. I'm not going to work any overtime tonight, instead doing so on Saturday and Sunday. I get time and a half Saturday and double time on Sunday, so I'd be very foolish not to take advantage of the money.

Scratchcards last night brought us 50p  and 25p (not a 10p in sight!).

I have had an email from Quidco about a £25 back for a £10 bet this weekend so I might take a look at that tonight.

Oh, and we're £19 overdrawn.:(

bleugh to being overdrawn, but I guess the money from the overtime will come in handy in the next couple of months so try to think of that to get through.
  • Unfortunately I wasn't needed to work overtime this weekend after all, but fortunately it means I have a weekend off instead. I was actually quite disappointed as I'd built myself up to do the overtime and was thinking of the money, but nevermind.

No real DFW news to report really, other than a £15 win on the slots on Butlins bing0, with free money from the daily scratchcards. The £15 has been transferred to the bank account already. ;)

It's just a waiting game until payday now, roll on Thursday...

  • Yesterday was quite a productive day and I actually felt like I achieved loads. :)

I cooked a huge pan of veggie chilli, using up half bags of chickpeas and pinto beans that had been in our store cupboard for ages. I also threw in some veg from the bottom of the fridge that needed using up with some tinned tomatoes and fresh (frozen!) chillis and voila = 10 portions of chilli for my packed lunches, :D (well, 9 left after today...:)).

I also baked and iced some cupcakes - I've offered to make some for a friend's wedding in the summer so need to practice! They turned out really great actually, looked quite professional even if I say so myself.

We caught up with the washing and got it all done and dried on the line, apart from a few heavy bits which we finished off in the dryer for 20 minutes.

I also did a little gardening, it was lovely to get out in the sunshine. Wanted to do more, but need to buy some compost and some plants which will have to wait until after payday.

We have a piece of sainsbury's basics lamb in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. We're off to the gym again later, so this will hopefully be ready when we get back.

  • Last night I prepared a raised bed in our garden in preparation to plant potatoes at the weekend. :j We also need to buy some more herbs as last year's didn't do very well, and I might also put some carrots in with the potatoes too as I have some carrot seeds which I received free. I'm not sure if it's too late for them though - will have to check. I may also put some spinach in them too if there's room, and a few salad leaves in pots. I already have Rocket growing on our windowsill in a pot. :DI love planting and growing veg, we have been quite successful in previous years but didn't grow much last year as the garden needed 'renovating' from the state it was in when we moved in.

36 hours until payday (who says I'm counting!? :rotfl:). Last pay day feels like ages ago, although every month feel like a long month financially lately. Once we've been paid, I can look at where we are with the budget and try, once again, to get a grip on the money coming in vs money coming out. I've really lost my focus on this these few months of this year.

50p & 10p on the scratchcards last night; I also just did another survey with the company I quite like. We're a long way off any further rewards with them yet though.

I haven't put my carrots in yet, think you'll be fine.
  • Fab, thanks Yukki. I'm a bit out of touch with veg planting after not doing it for 18 months, can't wait to get back into it!
