We've had a lovely weekend with my parents,
they've left now though
and the house seems quiet and a bit empty.
The work my Dad has done for us is pretty unbelievable though. He has plumbed a dishwasher in for us and moved the washing machine to a more convenient place; replaced (and paid for) two exterior lights; moved shelving in the garage; put new electrical sockets in and they have given us a large freezer that they no longer use. They are both so wonderful, we are so lucky to have them.
I bought some freezer containers in which to make and freeze meals, as I'm planning on doing some healthy batch cooking either later today or in the week.
I also picked up a couple more Christmas/birthday gift bargains whilst I saw them and had the money. At this rate, Christmas shopping will be finished in the Summer!
10 spins won on jjoy game, 12p gained from there...:rotfl:
3 x 10p on scratchcards today.
Off to cook...

Hi DFSD
You sound like you have had a lovely weekend. I so need to borrow your Dad. Mine, lovely as he is, is hopeless at DIY. He keeps offering to do a few jobs for me because my Mum has banned him from doing any work around their house. He usually ends up in casualty after an attempt at DIY and has an impressive list of DIY injuries from knife through arm  to electrocution!
I was very tired by last Friday after another busy week. I was starting to feel overwhelmed by my money target too. But a lazy day on Saturday did me the world of good and I am feeling more positive.
The Virgin thing turned out to be 10 free games. I won £30 so that was good. I reckon there was about a 1 in 5 chance of winning something, so I was lucky. Not sure I would risk it again.
I had a couple of MSs in a nice local town today. With the sun out, it was very pleasant indeed. And one of the MSs was coffee and pastries so very civilised.
I know I shouldn't wish time away, but I am looking forward to Easter, partly for a long weekend off and also because my work should quieten down a bit. I think I have been burning the candle at both ends for a bit too long and need a break. It might be time to investigate a cheap holiday.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

I need to borrow your Dad too, though I shouldn't complain at OH, normally nothing gets done, but today he put up a curtain track that has needed replacing for months and mown the lawn. He laid a carpet last weekend too. Not sure what's got into him.0

Glad to hear everyone has had a reasonable weekend.
Chocs - remember to give yourself a break and have a little 'you' time too - sounds like you've been working really hard lately and could do with a little break. Like you said, maybe look into a cheap break somewhere?
Glad you've had a few jobs done around the house Yukki!
Tonight has been a busy one and I feel like I have being completing a series of tasks since I got in, although I haven't achieved much! I'm hoping to have an early night as I'm quite tired, as is hubby who had to work most of the weekend.
I have had a lovely long chat with one of my best friends tonight, it's been a while since we caught up and it was lovely to speak to her. She's not been having an easy time of it lately either, so hopefully it has cheered her up a little to have a good old natter.
On the moneysaving front, I have placed an online order to be delivered midweek, which should come in at around £60 and keep us stocked up for a good while.
I didn't get round to taking one item back for a refund at the weekend, so I plan on doing that after work tomorrow. Hubby is working late tomorrow, so I will catch up on the washing and cleaning tomorrow evening.
2 x 10p on the scratchcards tonight - 10p seems to be the only win lately!

ooh, forgot to mention my complete and utter bargain at the weekend - 6 bottles of comfort fabric softener for 12p profit, thanks to the wilkinsons £1 off offer combined with an instant £1 saving sticker on the bottles.
My Mum also had 6 bottles free! :T:rotfl:

I have just actioned a transfer of £12.04 to the bank account, courtesy of the last ebay sale and a £5 survey reward which took ages to hit paypal - I'd forgotten all about it actually!
Tonight I'm finally going to get a refund of £16 on an item I bought a little while ago. I've been putting it off for ages, but need to do it soon before the 14 day money back period expires. I also need to do some cleaning tonight as the hall is looking a bit dusty, and the bathrooms could do with a clean.
I need to sort out our smallest spare room as it's currently full of 'stuff' and some surplus furniture that I shoved in there last week. We have guests coming in a few weeks and may need to use that room, so I really need to get it sorted. If I find the will to do so, I'll try and make a start on it tonight.

Hi DFSD
Gosh, you are in super-organised mode at the moment. I don't envy you tonight though; I hate taking things back.
Everything is getting a bit out of control here as the tiredness has set in.
There has been much spending over the last few days on food and takeaways etc. I have some free time over the next few days so will hopefully get things on track (or enough to let me carry on until Easter after which I should be less busy).

I know what you mean Chocs, we end up doing the same when we're tired and can't be bothered to cook in the evenings. I hope you managed to get a good night's sleep last night and are feeling a bit more refreshed today.
I took the item back last night so got a £16 refund, but then ended up spending £10 so I'm only £6 up.:o:o
I didn't get any washing, or any 'spare room clearing' done after all. Everything just seemed to be so much effort last night and take so long to do. I did put the dishwasher going though as we'd run out of clean mugs and plates.I will now shift it to the weekend as hubby is working, so I'll be home alone anyway.
Hubby also paid for me to join the gym last night, so we shall be fitting in some gym sessions as and when we are able to. Hopefully I'll start feeling a bit better after some regular exercise.
This month's sofa payment will be coming out of the bank over the next day or two, so I've updated the signature with the new total. We're halfway through paying that off now, only 6 more months to go on that one.
Thanks to the car costing us a fortune this month, and last month's overdraft, it doesn't look like we're going to be able to start overpaying the loan this month, but we're going to try and get ourselves in a good position with the bank account (ie. not overdrawn!) and then start overpaying next month. That's the plan anyway.

You sound like you are doing well. Hope the gym works well for you - I think everything seems easier when some exercise can be fit in on a regular basis.
I decided I needed a change on the exercise front as it now takes too long to drive to the gym and to commute from the nearby train station instead of my local one is an extra £40 a week! I'm not sure whether I will look into joining another one that is closer to home or whether I will go for a "mix and match" with local exercise classes. A friend of a friend was selling a rowing machine so I bought that the other day so there is something I can do here if I am working too much to get to a class etc. It is so dusty, heaven knows where they kept it, but it was only £35 and is in good working order. No doubt it will just get dusty in my flat instead :rotfl:
I have had a nice day pottering. I went to a yoga class which was good and ran a few errands in town. I had a couple of MSs which are done and input, so I have a free night. I'm still feeling tired so I think a lazy evening is called for and I'll save the excitement of the housework until tomorrow.
Best wishes.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000
