Last night I popped to Sainsbury's on the way home to pick up some bananas, mushrooms and throat sweets - and stuck to our list precisely.I have been looking into getting fruit and veg boxes delivered to us as I thought it may help us cut down on unnecessary 'temptation' spending when we pop to the supermarket to buy more. However, the prices I've found are pretty ludicrous so far and, as much as I would love to eat local produce by doing this, I can't justify spending more than twice the price for fruit and veg at the moment. I'll keep looking, but I think that idea may be out.
My parents are giving us their big chest freezer when they come to stay next, as it's too big for their needs now. It will be really useful for us and will enable me to do more batch-cooking and maybe even buy a large bulk of meat from the butchers now and then, which will hopefully work out much cheaper. I am not a big meat-eater, but hubby is and we find it so expensive from the supermarket at times.
The £100 I won on bingo hit the bank account yesterday, so I have duly transferred it over to the Sainsburys card to pay extra off towards the car service.

I'm feeling really tired tonight as I was awake very early this morning, so I'll keep this short and sweet...
2 x 10p on the scratchcards today, no wins or sales to report, but have entered a few more competitions today.
£5.50 from Amazon has been transferred to the bank account today from this week's sale so that should be in there sometime next week.
I'm a bit annoyed with myself tonight as I had to throw quite a bit of fresh food away - I forgot about some meat I had defrosting in the fridge and it looked iffy when I went to use it tonight, so has been thrown, along with a big butternut squash and a net bag of sweet potatoes that have been sat in the veggie rack for a little while. I HATE wasting food, but I have just been slack and not got round to using them yet; I mustn't let that happen again.
I've wrapped my Mum's Mother's Day gift tonight, so that she can take it home with her when they leave and it will save me on postage! My folks are coming for a visit this weekend, it will be really good to see them.
The spare bed has been stripped and changed tonight and I have the washing to do tomorrow - luckily I have a half day tomorrow so will do it in the afternoon. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to hang it on the line, today was beautiful!

Hi Ruby
Yes, they're just little tips I've picked up on here during the first part of our debt-free journey, so it's nice that ideas are passed on. I do it more when the veg is starting to go over a little, as it's such a waste to throw out fresh fruit and veg
The scratchcards I do are on the butlins bingo and take a break bingo site, but there is also one on virgin bingo too. There may be more, but I'm not aware of any others. The butlins bingo one requires you to have some sort of balance (at least 1p!) so you will need to deposit some money first and I think the minimum amount is £10.
There is also a free 'game' on jackpot joy site called Tiki's island or something like that. It involves clicking on squares to reveal symbols, if you get so many of one symbol, you win free spins on the slot game which usually results in some sort of cash win - not a lot most of the time but it does all help.
Good luck!0 -
A busy morning for us already! We dropped some rubbish from the garage off at the tip this morning on the way to work, and have sorted out the washing for hubby to do this morning (he has the morning off;)). He also has some things to post and a little shopping list of items to pick up (mainly for my parents benefit as Mum's diet is restricted for health reasons) so he's going to be a busy boy this morning! I have the afternoon off :j, so I need to continue tackling washing mountain and hopefully get it on the line to dry as it's a lovely sunny, but cold, day.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I also had nearly £9 track from Quidco this morning - I love money for nothing!
This afternoon, I also intend to phone virgin and cancel the cleared credit card we've been using as 0% balance transfer for the past 18 months. It's great to see that balance at 0.00 when it has previously been as high as £8625.14 (to be precise!).

I've just cancelled the virgin card (that felt good!
) as well as the Lloyds credit card which was cut up long ago.
Three loads of washing have been done (by hubby) and it's all now drying on the washing line outside. The DFW in me always feels smug when I can dry washing outside and don't have to put the tumble dryer on!
I've tackled the domestic job I hate the most: cleaning the oven! I've been putting it off for a while, but its done now. :T
The hard floors have had a sweep and I've had a bit of a re-jig in the garage to make some more room. I'm now just updating our finances for the month, so quite a productive afternoon really.
I have placed an order for a shopping delivery next week, but hubby came home with a £7 off when you spend £70 voucher from Sainsbury's today. I don't think these can be used online, so we'll probably go into town and do the shop ourselves at the weekend. It will save us £10.50 with the voucher + £3.50 delivery, so it's definitely worth it. We shall be sticking to the list like glue though! The onilne shop came to about £62, so I'll just buy a few extra bits for the freezer and store cupboard to get it up to £70.

Great going, I too like to dry on the line instead of the tumble, also going to be updating later but just can't seem to get motivated today, hopefully will spring into action tonight when oh is out, will dd to help after she's had her hissy fit when i asked. (well if she wants to go on comp she'll have to help):oDH CC £969.00, bank loans *2 £27634.00,Overdraft=£696.00 Total Debts to Tackle = £29299:o sealed pot member 923=£26.99, £2 club member 75 = £0.00 2011 challenge member 360

Aw, hope the motivation kicks in soon Ruby and DD comes round!
I always find the sunny days help me get into gear a little more, and it's a beautiful day today so I'm sure that's helping.0 -
Feeling on a roll with paperwork / the long road to financial freedom
, I've just cancelled our boiler care cover with British Gas as I've found it cheaper with our gas/elec suppliers. Albeit, it's only £1.50 a month less, but I should get £11 back through Uswitch on Quidco and £40 off my next bill with this supplier.
Off to finish off the oven and check for dry washing.
