DFSD's five year plan... and all it brings along the way

Hi DFSD
Nice to see you back! Sounds like you holiday was mixed - why didn't it seem like a proper holiday?
So have you got your house back to yourselves now? That must seem like a novelty!
I have been so busy with one thing and another that I haven't done so much MSE stuff. It doesn't really matter now, but I will probably start to notice in June when the bits of money that usually hit my bank account start dwindling. I'll maybe have another think about all this over the bank holiday weekend as I think I need a bit more free time to make some effort with exercising and to relax without semi-working on the computer.
My good news on the money front is that my car got through its MOT last week. It's starting to get old now, though has a low mileage, so when the garage called I was prepared for something serious to be wrong! What a relief when it was only a tyre that needed replacing. All my car expenses come around in May and I've been holding some money back just in case there were any big bills (well the whole lot with MOT, service, insurance, tax and breakdown must be the best part of £1,000 which is big enough!) I think I will now pay some of this money I have been saving up off the mortgage and try to start building up the fund again.
Happy payday!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Morning
Glad to hear the car got through the MOT without any major costs Chocs, that's always a plus as the costs never seem to be small with cars do they! Ours is still under warranty for another year but the servicing it requires costs a ridiculous amount so a warranty doesn't really save money in the long run.
As for the hols, it wasn't very relaxing if I'm being honest. We also struggled to sleep all week as the bed was pretty uncomfortable, so we were all tired which didn't do much for the holiday mood. It was nice to have a change of scene though and it was very cheap which is the main thing at the moment.
I've done another survey this morning, another £3 heading towards the paypal account. That'll be £6 in there to transfer when it's all in.
It's payday today and I've paid £350 off of the credit card, leaving £350 to pay off next month. We have about £200 'left' after everything's been paid and budgeted for this month, plus £80 in savings for building materials we'll need for the garden soon. We may need to add a bit more to this but it shouldn't be more than £30 or £40.
I've ordered a grocery shop to be delivered tonight, coming in at about £64. It should stock us up for a while.
My parents are coming up this weekend, so it will be lovely to see them. Hopefully the weather stays nice for the bank holiday.
Have a good day all

Quick money round up for this morning:
£6 is now in my paypal account from the two surveys I completed this week and hubby is paying in a cheque for £5.10 today from a second survey type company. I am going to transfer all these ecxtra little bits of money into on e of the (currently empty) e-saver accounts so that it goes towards finishing off the garden as we need about and extra £40. I also have enough points for a £5 voucher with a third survey company, but am going to save them towards a £10 voucher instead as you get more voucher for your points! This will go towards buying something for hubby's birthday which is coming up in a couple of months.
I've found my DFW mojo again it seems.I'm feeling very determined not to let money run away with us (or the other way round) this month, we want to have money left at the end of the month instead of being overdrawn.
We have no major events or expenses looming for this month, that we know of, so with a bit of discipline we should be ok.
Last night I sorted out lots of clothes and bits for ebay and some for the charity shop. After bank holiday weekend I shall be having another ebaying session to try and make some more money and clear some stuff that we no longer use/need. I have one more set of drawers to go through tonight and then that little job is done.
I also went through my present box and listed everything I already have and for whom. I have complete Christmas gifts for two or three people, and lots of little bits for others, but I need to get on with buying more things as I see them or Christmas will be expensive again.
That's all for now folks, hope you all have a great day,
DFSD

Well done DFSD :j, im sure you cant wait to get the garden finished. Isnt it great when you have a month with no birthdays, weddings etc as these seem to eat up all the disposable income .Credit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000

£3.46 made on an Amazon book sale this morning.
I've added it to the e-saver along with 11p of 'rounded down' money from the bank account. There's about £14-odd in that e-saver already, mostly from surveys etc.
Yes WABL - it's great not to have any weddings etc to pay out for! There's one birthday I need to buy for this month, but think I already have something in for that, or can buy it with a voucher I have.0 -
Blimey, there is no stopping you now
You have shamed me into applying for some more MS. Normally I get about a quarter of the jobs I apply for (some are self allocate but other companies prefer people to apply and then they get to choose). I logged on today to find I got them all accepted so I will be busy this weekend . At least I can justify putting of the Ebaying for another week :rotfl:
It's amazing how much that E-saver has mounted up - well done!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Yes, hopefully long may this new-found motivation last, Chocs!
Well done on the mystery shops - you are going to have one busy weekend, but at least it'll be worthwhile.
So, progress since yesterday:
• 37p transferred to e-saver today (it all helps! :rotfl:).
• One more survey completed.
• Chest of drawers cleared last night and I finally have some space (and hardly any clothes left!). We conveniently had a charity collection bag put through the door a couple of days ago, so I've filled a bag up for them to collect which will save me a job in taking it to the charity shop.
• More clothes and items put in ebay pile, ready to photograph when I get chance.
• Amazon sale wrapped and ready to post.
• Two portions of last night's leftovers saved for lunchboxes.
• House hoovered and ready for my folks to come visit at the weekend!
This weekend I will need to spend a little bit of money on some compost and baskets for the garden, but there is a warehouse near us closing down so I intend to pop in there today and see if there are any bargains to be had. May also look to top up the Christmas/birthday shopping if there's anything suitable at a good price.
Have a good day all
