  • Yeah, it's definitely worth doing Yukki. They start so early round here though - 5 or 6am, some even earlier!

Well it's Monday again already :(; the weekend seemed to go so fast. We had another friend come to stay with us for the weekend so it was a full house with our 'lodgers' there too at the moment! We went to a little local event on Saturday which was lovely, and then had a BBQ. Yesterday we went out for lunch, which our friend kindly treated us to, but we bought dessert and coffees so spent £20.

I won £40 yesterday on the freebie slot thing which is on its way to our bank account. :T That will pay for lunch yesterday and most of the gas bottle refill we had to buy last week, costing £25.

    Hope the week flies by

  • £43 has been spent in petrol so far this month, leaving around £207 (to be precise!) left for the rest. £20 has been spent from the grocery budget and I need to pick up some basics like bread, eggs and milk tonight.
We still have 'lodgers' and it's proving quite costly to feed everyone at the moment. :( Unfortunately they've not been great at contributing to the groceries or the household chores, so it's been a bit of a strain both on the finances and our patience!

2 x 10p on the scratchcards last night; I need to do today's tonight. The £40 win hasn't hit my bank account yet but hopefully it will by tomorrow.

I owe £5 at work for a 'new baby' collection which I need to bring in tomorrow too, I forgot today.

How long do you have your lodgers for? that seems a bit unfair for them not to help out very much.
  • I think they'll be here for about another 10 days YB.

I think we've spoilt them and our 'we won't take rent, just buy some groceries and supplies' idea has been forgotten. I don't think they've done this deliberately at all, but we've just given them an easy life for 6 weeks and they've taken it. They're great friends to us and have bought us an expensive (but pretty pointless to us) gift worth £150+ which they said was for their 'rent', but to be honest, it's just an expensive, branded version of something we already have and certainly not something I'd ever consider buying as I think it's a total waste of money.
They earn A LOT of money (double our salaries at least!), but seem to have no idea about finances. They love to throw their money away on designer things and then complain they're skint! Their attitude winds me up immensely.
It doesn't help that they are some of the laziest people I know too and are quite happy to sit and watch TV and eat all day.
  • Today's (and yesterday's) lunch was leftover salad and chicken from a weekend BBQ. Quite pleased I managed to stretch it out over two lunches. :)

I've just stopped myself from buying 'The Pauper's Cookbook' from Amazon for a fiver, after kidding myself that it was money-saving. I already know how to make cheap meals and we cook from scratch 99% of times, so I don't need it!

I did another survey this morning too, it'll bring me slightly closer to payout I guess. :)

Thinking of going for a nice long walk tonight when I get home for some free exercise. It's too nice to be stuck indoors in this weather, especially after a long day in the office.

Just won ANOTHER £5 on the butl!ns b!ngo scratchcard (my third this month!), decided to use it on their new game and won £25 which has been transferred to the bank account. :D:j

I spent £5 tonight on some herbs for the garden and £17 from the groceries pot on bits we'd run out of.
  • Today finds me bored at work and extremely tired of being bored at work. It's getting me down a bit lately, this job of mine. I'm going through another of those 'I could've been so much more successful if...' days which I really need to shake off as they leave me on a downer for days.:(

Anyway, I actually have the house to myself this evening until late; everyone else is out for the night and I can't wait! I intend to potter round the garden, eat something simple for dinner and do entirely as I please! :rotfl:

I need to do the scratchies tonight, but that's the only job on my list! Oh, and the washing... and the bathrooms could do with a clean...

    Roll on 4.30pm!!!

It's horrible when you go through phases of hating your job. I have them frequently, but I also know that at the moment, the locality, the convenience, the flexibility of the company being small etc is helping me with dd being so small. The money is crud though and I am worth so much more. One day!

    Enjoy your evening, sounds bliss.

    Hi DFSD

Hope you had a nice weekend. I've not been around much as I have been mad busy. Nice busy, though. I have been out at events at a couple of local music, dance and theatre festivals and seeing friends. Also, work has been busier than normal so with one thing and another I have been coming home late most nights.

I have another very busy week planned and then I have a week off when I am going to see my family which should be nice. It will give me chance to think about priorities over the next few months. I am really pleased with the progress I have made in the first third of the year (saved £5k of my £17k target). Like most people, I would like to keep up the momentum with MSE stuff, but also magically create some more time to tackle jobs around the house and the decluttering!

You are such a nice person to host your friends for so long and no doubt you will be thrilled to get your space back - is that this week? And it must be your holiday soon which is something to look forward to.

    Best wishes x

    Hi Chocs

I had a lovely weekend thanks, we went home and spent the long weekend with my family. I hadn't been home since Christmas so it was a much needed trip home.
It sounds like you've had a lovely few weeks too. :)

Well done on saving 5K already, that's a huge amount and a great achievement. You'll have a lovely house in no time at this rate!

Yes, our friends should be moving out within the next 10 days. I love them to bits, but it will be nice to have our house back!

We're off on holiday the week after next, so I'm looking forward to that - more for the week off work than actually going anywhere! Work is getting me down big time at the moment; I'm really struggling. I need to do something about it, but it is such a catch 22 situation. :(
