DFSD's five year plan... and all it brings along the way

It's the first time we've had one too YB, and they've been later than they were last night as well. At least they phone to let you know they're running late though, unlike some supermarkets that shall remain nameless [STRIKE]Tesco[/STRIKE]0

Hi DFSD
You seem to be doing well with the surveys :T. I don't seem to get so many now and get screened out of a lot. Sometimes, it's a relief though isn't it when there is the prospect of ranking every energy company in 20 different ways even though I have only ever used two of them!
The money has gradually trickled in from MSE stuff this month so I should reach my target OK for April. I am already looking ahead to May.
The nice weather at the weekend prompted me to look at houses on the internet with nice little gardens.... and dream....I keep having the idea of moving to the coast in a few years time. There is one particular area which appears as a real possibility both in terms of a suitable area lifestyle and leisure-wise, and also has some job prospects. I think I might head there for a few days later in the year to see if it feels right.
Anyway, enough rambling. I came home tonight with a big to do list, and all I have actually done is sewn one button back on a shirt :rotfl:Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Hello all
Another survey today, and it seems they'll be sending me some washing liquid to test too. I'm embarrassed to say, I got quite excited about this...not only do I love getting post, but I love getting free stuff too! I really do need to get out more!
Chocs, I've stopped doing the lightspeed surveys now. I was tired of getting screened out and getting a few pennies for each one. They were REALLY long too and I seemed to be doing more for less.
Well done on the target for April too; good luck with May's!
Exciting news about a possible move to the coast. I'm originally from a coastal area and could not imaging living life far from the sea. I miss my home village very much, but thankfully there are pretty areas near me too. We have been getting to the beach more lately which has helped.
It's payday on Friday and we have had a pretty rubbish month money-wise. We still have people staying with us which, although they're contributing, is costing us a lot more than I imagined. The overdraft will be around £130, which will be taken down to £100 once the Quidco money has been paid for this month. Unfortunately we have had to put some grocery shopping on the credit card too this month which I was trying to avoid.I think we may need to get rid of the credit card. As useful as it is for points, at the back of my mind I know it's there when we're short of money and that's not helping our budget-wise plan every month.
May is going to be extroardinarily expensive for us as there is lots on, but we'll do the best we can. Our visitors should've moved out by then too so we'll be able to spend less on groceries next month for sure.
I also plan to do a car boot sale as soon as I can find a free weekend in May!

I'm the same with the credit card, it's too easy when you know it's there to get you out of a tight spot, whereas otherwise you would still manage without it.0

It's payday tonight :j and we're £200 overdrawn. £30 will be coming from Quidco, so that's £170 OD. I'll see if hubby can throw any extra at the pot this month, but I doubt it as he has a lot on this month too. I really hope our car boot sale is a money-maker! I have a couple of things I can put on ebay, which I expect to make around £30 for, plus the £10 cheque should be on the way for the music survey, so that leaves another £130 to find if I'm going to make that up this month. I'll have to get the thinking cap on.0

Hurrah for payday! Boo to overdraft. At least you have found £70 to reduce it already.
When are you planning to do the car boot? I've only ever done one for charity before and it was the charity's stuff being sold. I was horrified when I opened the van and saw the rubbish we were supposed to be selling. But a lot of it did go, to be fair, and it was quite entertaining. It was weird stuff that sold well, like promotional t shirts and bags that people had been given, old 70s style crockery and glasses. We even sold those CDs and DVDs that are free in the Sunday papers!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Morning all
Hopefully we'll be able to do a car boot sale sometime in May Chocs, we just need to borrow a pasting table from my folks first (and summon up the will to do it!). They're not my idea of fun either, and hubby absolutely hates them, but we have enough 'stuff' to do one and we need the money so it's a no brainer really.
Payday today and all the accounts have been checked and money transferred where necessary. I have worked out this month's budget and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I've allowed an extra £100 for petrol this month, purely because we have lots of extra trips and 3 or 4 long drives to make this month which will send us over our usual budget. Groceries have been allocated £150, petrol £250. If we don't use it all then that will be a bonus at the end of the month.
So, leftover money was just over £200. I've already put just over £31 aside to buy a good friend's wedding present, so that leaves me £170. We were planning on giving them £50 cash but can't really afford the extra £20, so have bought something nice from their wedding gift list instead.
Hubby has a little leftover money too that he will be using for spending money for our break away in a few weeks (the bargain £45 week's holiday we got through the grabbit board back in Feb!).
Hopefully we won't have to use the whole of the grocery budget this month either as we're away a lot, but we'll see how that pans out.
Have a lovely weekend all

Just bought my Dad some garden things for his birthday from an ebay shop today. They were much cheaper on there than in any of the high street stores. Also had £3 in the paypal account from the last survey which went towards it so only paid out £9.96. I already have him a few other things that I have bought over the last couple of months, so have a nice little collection of gifts for his birthday.
I've also paid £5 towards the lottery syndicate we have at work for the next 5 weeks. I don't play the lottery at home, but like to keep up the work one just in case we ever win big! :rotfl:That £5 has come out of my purse though so has not affected the 'bank' budget.

I've just had my payslip and it seems I have had a payrise! I've checked with personnel and I've been put up to the next 'level' of pay within my job. It's only around £700 a year, but it's better than nothing!0

woohoo well done on the payrise, it all helps.
I hate car boots as well but think we're going to have to do one this year to rid our house of some tat and help the wedding savings0
