I think you've got a big reality check coming up sometime soon...

That aside, I've been on holiday all over the USA, both east coast and west coast, but I wouldn't want to settle there permenantly...maybe for a few years in somewhere like Nashville, butI couldn't stay there forever. There's a big difference between visiting a place and living there - I *loved* visiting Cherokee in North Carolina (Indian Reservation) last year and would go again in a heartbeat, but couldn't live there permenantly.

I can't stand the Indian reservations in the US, they are nothing but a bunch ripping off hypocritical money grabbers.

Depending on the tribe, there seems to be a big difference - the Cherokee lady I stayed with, for instance had no time for most of the plains tribes (Lakota, Dakota, etc) as their standard of living is appalling, and as was mentioned, they eat dogs. The Cherokee on the other hand, have done very well for themselves and the reservation is gorgeous with lots to do including a museum, indian village and a reconstruction of an early European settlement to name a few...also have the river running through, or you can go into the Smokey mountains...go panning for gems...there's a year round Christmas themed park (tacky, but still fun)...lots going on :).
  • That's what i'd heard. There are many Indian Reservations accross the USA and whilst some are undeniably tacky tourist traps I had heard good things about Cherokee NC. In fact I am planning a Nashville- Smoky Mountains trip and Cherokee is on my list, so thanks for the info.

Sounds like an amazing trip! I've been to Nashville many times, and spent a good few weeks in Cherokee, so if you have any questions, feel free to PM me :). Cherokee is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited and the Cherokee people are very friendly - it has tacky, touristy areas around parts of the town, but there's lots of other less tacky things to do, such as a visit to the Indian Village, which is well worth doing :)
  • Thanks! PM sent.

I find it amazing that anyone would seriously consider emigrating to another country based on tv shows it displays a level of immaturity which makes
me think you probably wouldn't even get into the clubs you are interested in.
In conclusion I wouldn't go to either of these places after watching Ross kemp on gangs.
