Hello, I did the same mistake and got my car insurance from this company. After 2 weeks that they asked me to send them the documents, i realized that my husband stated no claim bonus while i didn't have one. I called them to inform them and they said that my policy would be £400 more expensive so as i coudnt afford it, i asked them to cancel it .
apparently according to their terms and conditions if i cancel the policy after 2 weeks, i have to pay 25% of the premium. However the only thing that they mentioned about cancellation in the policy summer that they sent me was ' if you cancel the policy after 14 days but before the first renewal we will refund your unused premium less a charge of £50!!!
the other thing was the total premium was £842, however when i called them they advised that its about £930 and the reason for that was that 'If you pay for your new business policy by Direct Debit, a credit arrangement fee of 10% of the insurance premium will apply'. So i ended up paying 240-250 for only 3 weeks cover and i'm still not sure if they even cancelled my policy as i haven't received any confirmation yet. I was just wondering if I have any right to complain because of misleading terms and conditions, also poor customer services? ( I wasn't happy at all with their CS as they hung up on me twice!!, also every time i called they gave me different prices to what the other adviser gave to me and then when i pointed it out, they said it was an error! )0 -

Hi I have had a horrible time with one call insurance and I don't think it's over! Saw them on a comparison site, cheapest deal, was abit caution but money tight at mo so went with them. Couldn't down load documents, tryed phoning them to go through this automated message, pressing no.2 etc. then to be told the number is wrong. Tryed another no. The same happened. Emailed them, they only send automated emails to! Eventually got my documents through email, wrong details, asked them to phone me because their no. Wrong. Heard nothing, then I get a letter through the post saying I hadn't declared that I had a motoring conviction and we're going to charge me 75 pounds and 55 pounds admin fee. I so angry, phoned them and wow I get through to renewal department, spoke to someone called peter. Told him tha situation, tryed to tell me the reasons as to why these charges were being applied. Told him not to put me on hold and cancel my policy with immediate affect, which he has told me he has done. Lol told me there was a 50.00 fee to cancel as I'm in the cooling off stage! I have asked for an email and a letter in writing to confirm this. Told me I would get my refund in the next four days. Told him how !!!!! their reviews were and don't believe a word he says. I will be writing to watchdog, ombudsman and if you people can give me some advice who else to write to, let me know. They are the worst company I have ever had to deal with.0

Reading many posts here (thank you MoneySavingExpert) regarding One Call spurred me on to contact the Financial Ombudsman (FO) re One Call, following a number of challenges including a very worrying not being able to get through by phone, to sort out several issues  including the auto renewal without my having received preferred notification. My complaint was taken seriously by the FO who wrote to One Call to cancel my policy with no charge. The complaints department of One Call phoned me to discuss my concerns - it was a pleasure to deal with someone who listened to my issues, accepted my concerns and treated me like a valued customer :T I am 6 months through my policy and he offered to cancel my policy and refund me 1/2 of my annual fee with no charges or admin fees. With his being so amenable and my not wanting to go to the hassle of finding another policy I offered him a suggestion that I leave my policy running for the remainder of the year as long as he refund me the increased amount that I could have negotiated if I had had the chance. The outcome of the conversation was exceptional :j One Call were in fact already cancelling my policy without using the FO protocol and so he found me a new policy that was much cheaper than my previous one, he added some bells and whistles and in short I have an extra 6 months FREE insurance with all of my previous cover including VIP breakdown, no claims protection, reduced excess PLUS I now have a direct communication with a very helpful man at One Call - At this point I highly recommend you stick to your guns and respectfully complain. One Call appear to be taking genuine issues seriously and will attempt to make good if you have the right attitude and approach
I am now a very happy One Call customer :rotfl:

After going through the usual annual quotes I decide to go with
One Call. Not sure as it's not one of the big players, after paying in full for the year and uploading my no claims and licence they also require your additional drivers documents.after just three weeks they informed me I failed to inform them of my my partners sp30 which is due off soon ( next month)so I've now got three options I take off my partner for the sum of £150 or I could carry on and add this information for the sum of £160. And my last option was to cancel the policy after just three weeks £130 which is 25% of the whole policy!
Through fear of actually needing yo claim for the year or amend any details I opt for cancelling and learning a huge lesson, don't go for company that you don't know they have poor customer service and take ages to answer call of which you can hear at least two further agents in the background.
A real unprofessional outfit and shouldn't be relied upon for any piece of mind either car or home insurance provision.0 -
Made a huge mistake in having insurance arranged through this broker. Just charged me £55 for a minor policy amendment which in itself didn't increase the premium. Making money such as this on policy holders is totally immoral. needless to say I wont be renewing at renewal time.0

I chose One Call motor insurance as their quote was competitive. Big mistake. After an initial deposit on my debit card, they began taking payments after about two months, I kept getting letters and email to say I must sign their direct debit guarentee which I had done already. I came back from holiday to numerous letters and email and they had cancelled my policy. I wrote them yet another email and didn't get a reply. Needing to use my car I bout a new policy elsewhere. Today two months on the took an unauthorised payment of £209.71 from my card. My bankers say it is their responsibility to refund.
Now reporting to Watchdog. Has anyone else had similar problems please? On disability benefits I now have no food this month.0 -
I'm doubting that this is an insurance broker as all they seem to want is extremely personal details and to take money. i've tried cancelling this morning and was assured they would confirm by email, I haven't received one. One call is not what it is! Many calls is what you have to make and I had an extremely rude advisor, so no solution when trying to sort out any problems. Their advisors create more problems and want to charge you ridiculous soms of money for doing this.
I am not confident that I'm insured and would not recommend dealing with this company. I would not like to have had an accident while I thought i may have been insured by One Call. if they are for real they need investigated quickly as I've never came across such dodgy business practice.
I've now insured with a reputable company and have no idea if I'll ever see my refund. On reading this thread I realise it is their regular business practice.
They are the worst online and telephone company I've had the displeasure to deal with.0 -
I had pretty much the same experience, so won't go into details.
Just wanted to add that they now sell on your details to other companies, I have just had a call stating that due to me being previously insured by OneCall, they are ringing me to enquire about Solar Panels. No wonder I rarely answer my home phone!0 -
They may be called One Call but what this doesn't tell you is that your one call takes an average of about 15 minutes to be answered. Most (although not all) of the staff I've spoken to have been unpleasant and unhelpful and they seem to take pleasure in attempting to justify why their company is ripping you off. Email responses are totally inadequate which means that to get any sense out of One Call you have no option but to call and therefore waste 15 minutes on hold before you can speak to anyone. On top of this, due to changing my car halfway through the 12 month policy I had to pay an excessive penalty charge. The price I was offered to insure my new car with One Call was actually quite competitive but my experience with them has been so awful that I preferred to pay more to insure with a competitor - I couldn't face having to deal with them for another year.
My advice would be don't touch them with a barge pole.0
