MSE Parents Club Part 11

You know we both have had some hard times growing up but that puts it firmly on you to change the course of how your children grow up.
I've not had it quite as hard as some - in a nutshell, parents split when I was 3, got back together, divorced when I was 5. I lived with my Dad for a bit then apparently 'Your Dad wanted some land that was in my name so he swapped you for the land' Both parents remarried, I lived with Mum until I was 11 and she kicked me out (I was a devil child). I went from living in a busy town with loadsa mates to being in the middle of nowhere at my Dad's. Dad remarried AGAIN and my sister ran away cos she didn't like new stepmum (she ended up back with my Mum). Lived at home til I was 18 and then moved out with OH.
I don't remember my mum and dad being in the same room other than a court room, BUT it has made me the strong, confident person that I am today. It has also made me quite detatched emotionally as I am used to saying Goodbyes during holidays and stuff whereas OH gets really depressed whenever he has to leave his family. I get on fab with both Mum & Dad but it has taken a lot of time and 'letting things go over my head'. My parents still like to play the hard done by parent or snipe about the other
Dad - 'Make sure you take the garlic with you when you visit your mum'
Mum - 'Your father should be doing XYZ blah blah'
I just switch off, my sister lets it get to her and she's a really angry, temperamental person because of it. I had to wanr my Dad to watch what he said when he went to the wedding cos I knew she would kick off at the slightest thing.
I DON'T want any of this for Jack or any other children we have so I will be working hard to ensure they grow up knowing how much we love them and seeing how well we work as a unit. OK, so I do most of the housework even though we both work full time (normally)but I wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for OH.
In fact after that last statement, I'm going to make more of an effort with him and try to stop arguing over silly things. I don't want my boy growing up listening to us bicker.
Oh, that was a big nutshell :rotfl:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Hi all, haven't posted for a few days as I have[STRIKE] man flu[/STRIKE] a cold
and I seem to have given it to David
:(:( He has gone from sleeping 11 hours a night to sleeping 3 then waking up every hour
:(:(
On the plus side it is our wedding anniversary tomorrow and the IL's are babysitting
With all the talk about relationships, we got engaged after dating for 1 year then got married 9 months later. We didn't live together before we got married but did see each other every single day after our 1st date :rotfl:and went on several holidays together.boogellyboo wrote: »Isla's been weighed this morning and is now 12lb 4oz. We went to our first sling meet yesterday too and she was an angel, all smiles and giggles which was lovely.
Boogellyboo nice to see you posting again, I was asking after you a little while agogot-it-spend-it wrote: »Sorry, I haven't caught up yet but have a quick question. I've pulled something in my shoulder- the pain kept me awake half the night so I went to the pharmacy today to see what I can take for it while I'm BFing and they said only paracetamol. Not asking for medical advice, but has anyone had a similar thing while BFing and been able to take anything stronger? I really don't want to take up a Drs apt with it, but I will if that's the best way forward.
GISI, I hope you are feeling better now. You can definitely take stronger medication - I take pethidine several times every day for a long standing problem I have and I am still breastfeeding too. This has been okayed by my consultant, GP, midwife and health visitor :rotfl:
Aless, I hope Finn is feeling better now
Happy Birthday, Fergie!! _party__party_ and MFDs Mum

Hi all,
Hammy thanks for asking after me, and as if by magic I appear again :rotfl: I'm just catching up while Isla feeds/naps. Last night was awful, poor thing kept waking every hour or so coughing, spluttering and choking. She also keeps wiping her snotty nose all over her face and meI hope David and you feel better soon, it's awful watching littlies poorly.
OH was lovely, he's got today off work and got up with Isla and left me to have a lie-in after being up all night.
Going to read back a bit nowBelly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0 -
searching I think it's ok. It may just be that we get the impression he doesn't help with the house much?
Please don't let it get to you, so long as you are happy thats all that counts.0 -
Happy Birthday Fergie :j :j :j
I know I'm not around much, but I have a question!
Does anybody know if you can freeze shop-bought baby puree? I normally feed Andrew on home-mixed purees, but I've taken advantage of some of the vouchers and bought a couple of jars of stage 1 food. However, Andrew is still sooooo small that he only eats about a quarter of a jar at a meal. Even if I push the "use within 24hrs" guidance to the next day's meal, that's still half a jar wasted. Does anybody reckon it's okay to open a jar, spoon out one meal, and then freeze the rest in meal-sized portions?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Nothing wrong with either if the funds are there to support the lifestyle and the 'kept' person is contributing in other non-financial ways.
Its my doggys birthday today! Can't believe hes 2 already!!0 -
nah, you keep moaning! Really if we took all each others moaning as gosspel, we'd all be batting for t'other team and it wouldn't be sling meets, more thong meets and one big huge gay club
(I'm totally going with MM btw)
We know he isn't sitting there being a lazy bum. (((hugs)))0 -
