yeah, SJ I kind just held him and twirled around in the water, bobbed him up and down and just kinda tried to move about. So far he hasn't done much, just pretty much sat there, but I figure something will eventually click. We've moved on to splashing his face and head to get him used to being wet, and next time I think I might dunk him under briefly just to see how he copes.

I think 20-30 min is about their limit for the 1st few times unless your pool is really warm. I just talked to him to the whole time - there's not much else to do at that age!

3 - it was his 2nd jabs. THe 1st didn't do much at all but he was really miserable (and feverish, bless him) last night.

the first time I went swimming I just held him by the head and let him float around and then held him under the arms and bobbed him up & down. You get more confident each time you go.

Right - car insurance sorted out so I am going to sort some stuff out and the walk to the PO before J needs his bottle.

There are 31 empty beer bottles in the kitchen

    Morning everyone,

SJ - I took Katie swimming for the first time when she was about 3 months old only because our local pool is cold, I then signed her up for swimming lessons from 5 months old.

Lolly - when Katie had chickenpox I found Aloe Vera Gel much more effective than calamine, oh and oatmeal baths - tie a muslin filled with porridge oats to the tap whilst you fill the bath - Katie would spend ages in there as it calmed the itch.

Plans for today - swimming this morning, then Katie and I will do the supermarket shop whilst DH does some painting in Katie's bedroom - the time is coming for her to move out of our room as she doesn't come into bed with us now until about 6am.

SM - I'm fingers crossed that the trains don't strike for the 7th.

I got hacked off with DH this morning - I asked him to make a start on the washing which he did, sorted it into piles, and washed one load but then left it wet in the basket - I think he was planning on getting all the loads washed then hanging them up to dry - I had to explain that you hang it up as it's washed.

He's now putting the second load out on the line to dry.

I got a letter of my mortgage provider yesterday I'm getting a refund of £137 for overpayments on my Mortgage PPI I also got a letter of PO Homephone I've been overcharged on some phone calls and getting a refund of £6.60!

  • Thanks ladies - he doesn't have as much hair now as he did either! It's started thinning out :( I like it and I want it to stay!! DH had similar hair when he was born, and it is really thick and dark now, but after his baby fluff came off it grew back bright blonde so I'm wondering if Alfie's might do the same.

Might take him swimming in a couple of weeks then. Did you just kind of hold him in the water and chat to him?

tries not to sound like she has no idea what she's doing with this whole baby lark!!

Your picture of A is gorgeous and I love the FB ones too! The first time we took H swimming (he was about6-7 weeks) we just held him and bobbed him around, talking to him. Now we do things like hold his head while he floats on his back, rest his chin on your shoulder and help him kick his legs etc.

Glam- well done on getting up for the sale. I probably will for the summer one, but I never find these in-between ones as good.

    Lolly- hugs for chickenpox.

Nikkit- spots are totally normal in little ones, and as Aless says they will go on their own.

Aless- big hugs after your bad night. We suffered after jabs last week, but seem to be all back to normal now.

Thanks to all you ladies for your lovely words last night. I feel tons better now. My little boy is the best present I could ever have (and he's started not getting up till 8:30 which makes me love him all the more) :D.

We have a swim seat, so she bobs about in that, and I can rest my chin on it, and swim up and down with my feet!

Oh, you just reminded me my washing line has snapped and fell down. That'll give OH something to do today when he eventually gets out of his pit.

V decided to get up at 6.20 this morning. Does she not realise its Saturday? :(

    SJ, Beautiful photo.

Have been to Next, well two of them, town centre and retail park. Gave my childminder a lift too as her car is in the garage. Not much baby stuff, only got 3 things for Alex, Joe came off better, baseball shoes, two t-shirts and a lovely cardigan, OH -
boxers and me? Big fat zero.

Oh well, had to be content with my Macdonalds Bacon Roll breakfast. Two Nexts, then Macdonalds and home for 8.30. And OH had to get up and see to Alex. About time.
