we went away last weekend and on the day we were leaving the young boy of the family we were staying with developed a chicken pox rash. Bubs started with a rash yesterday on his belly at first i thought it was heat rash as the spots were tiny but they have grown over night and im sure one or two have very tiny blister heads. I Have called NHS direct and the nurse is going to call me back and will take him to the docs if needed but i know there isnt alot they can do other than piriton and lotion. he seems fine in himself. Have any of your babies had chicken pox at 6months or very young and are there any tips to help keep him comfortable :-)

Oh yeah forgot to mention i am pregnant as well but that shouldnt be a problem as i have had chicken pox and been vaccinated against rubella :-)

Buy calamine in aqueous cream from the chemist.

It's less messy than dabbing calamine lotion on and the aqueous cream helps stop the skin from drying out.

Lolly - oh no poor thing!

nikkit - I think that's normal, after Caitlyn was born I went off anything intimate with DH. A kiss was ok but anything else just repulsed me a bit TBH. I'm fine now though - although those 'moments' are still a bit few a far between!

Glad you got some stuff in the sale Glam! I'm an avid 6am'er at the winter and summer sales, and you can almost guarantee that most other people on the road at that time of morning are off to the Next sale!

Collected my Avon books last night - 15 books back and a whopping £2.50 order But I got a text from someone whose mum had given her my number! I took her a book last night and am collecting it this morning when I take my other books out again. Got an order to come off my neighbour too and my sister's ordered some stuff.

Might be taking Josh and Caitlyn swimming later if her ring arrives. It'll be her first time - I can't wait! She loves the bath so I think she'll love it in the pool!

Tara - I didn't have anyone give me away. I walked down the aisle myself:D We got married in Cyprus and arranged it all within a few weeks....although didn't have a potographer, which is the only thing I wish we had done.....would have been lovely to have some pics:( I definitely think you should have one, even if just a friend/family, who are renowned for taking good piccies and will take loads so there is more chance of some nice ones:)

yeah, SJ I kind just held him and twirled around in the water, bobbed him up and down and just kinda tried to move about. So far he hasn't done much, just pretty much sat there, but I figure something will eventually click. We've moved on to splashing his face and head to get him used to being wet, and next time I think I might dunk him under briefly just to see how he copes.

I think 20-30 min is about their limit for the 1st few times unless your pool is really warm. I just talked to him to the whole time - there's not much else to do at that age!

3 - it was his 2nd jabs. THe 1st didn't do much at all but he was really miserable (and feverish, bless him) last night.

the first time I went swimming I just held him by the head and let him float around and then held him under the arms and bobbed him up & down. You get more confident each time you go.

Right - car insurance sorted out so I am going to sort some stuff out and the walk to the PO before J needs his bottle.

There are 31 empty beer bottles in the kitchen :eek:

another question , if anybody has any ideas ,
when Thomas is sleeping he moans when he breathes out it can last a good cpl hours , i thought at first it was normal , but now am thinking maybe he has something wrong with hes breathing or lungs ?

glam there was 4 in my kitchen this morning , but i told OH he best be up to look after Thomas while i go to doctors , lol

Morning everyone,

SJ - I took Katie swimming for the first time when she was about 3 months old only because our local pool is cold, I then signed her up for swimming lessons from 5 months old.

Lolly - when Katie had chickenpox I found Aloe Vera Gel much more effective than calamine, oh and oatmeal baths - tie a muslin filled with porridge oats to the tap whilst you fill the bath - Katie would spend ages in there as it calmed the itch.

Plans for today - swimming this morning, then Katie and I will do the supermarket shop whilst DH does some painting in Katie's bedroom - the time is coming for her to move out of our room as she doesn't come into bed with us now until about 6am.

SM - I'm fingers crossed that the trains don't strike for the 7th.

I got hacked off with DH this morning - I asked him to make a start on the washing which he did, sorted it into piles, and washed one load but then left it wet in the basket - I think he was planning on getting all the loads washed then hanging them up to dry - I had to explain that you hang it up as it's washed.

He's now putting the second load out on the line to dry.

I got a letter of my mortgage provider yesterday I'm getting a refund of £137 for overpayments on my Mortgage PPI I also got a letter of PO Homephone I've been overcharged on some phone calls and getting a refund of £6.60!
