not being funny but (don't you love that phrase :p) what has running into the road at age 7 got to do with it?

you wouldn't use reins at that age and you should have known better at that age.

I don't walk loads but when walking I probably used then about 1% of the time, I had no trouble controlling Chris when he was little it's now that he's a stroppy thing  he protests at hand holding but only because hes independant, he'd never run into the road (IMO). I'd obviously never do it but I reckon he could walk over to the Dr's by himself safely now, he knows you press the button and wait for the green man etc I hardly ever hold his hand for safety when walking there these days.

I'm sure I'll use the reins for Ed at some point though, but I also think I could cope fine without them :)

Not being funny but, I am sure Jillie's point is that if a 7 year old is capable of running out into the road, then a younger child may also do that. Every child is different.

Apparently I ran out into the road on a busy street when very young. My dad let go of my hand for a second to get his car keys out of his pocket and off I went. And I was a very well behaved child and I would have been taught to cross the road properly but there is only so much you can teach a young child and expect them to remember 100% of the time. I don't know if I want to use reins or not but I wouldn't criticise anyone who did. Accidents can happen even to people who are normally very vigilant.

My mum was telling me a story earlier about when I was 2.

She had left me with my real dad to nip to the shop. I clearly wasn't happy about that, and unlocked the door myself and went out to find her.

I actually remember bits and pieces of this story too, and never made sense of it.

Anyways, I unlocked the door, went outside, crossed a busy main road and ended up in the shop and found her. I was wearing my bright yellow pyjamas.

I still remember unlocking the door, and feeling a sense of happyness when I saw my mum beside the fruit and veg bit in the shop.

I really was an escape artist (and apparently very clever :p)

Chris was in hospital when he was 2 ish and the nurses put him in a cot and his mum told them to keep an eye on him as he was a good climber and they said he would be fine. They went to get him in the morning and he wasnt there, searched for ages and finally found him sitting in the mens room thinking one of the old men was his grandad and was trying to get him to read a book !! lol

I had terrible tantrums when I was 2. Used to chuck myself down the stairs. :( I was in hospital for several months when I was a baby and it seems my Mum never bonded with me so the neighbour used to have me most days. I suppose I was desperately trying to get her attention. When I got older she sent me to my godmothers every school holiday, I was really loved as you can see! :o

But hey, after 38yrs at least this morning I finally told her what I think of her, well a bit anyway!

Southhampton is quite a way, pennies are bit tight at mo and petrol requires a second mortgage. When is it and I'll try my hardest (especially if I'm allowed to keep the £74 that the tax credit people randomly put into my bank account last week:o. Anyone else had that happen? Some form of rebate or something?
Have you told them of a change of details of any kind recently? Every time we do, they issue a new award notice and recalculate the payments which includes doing one extra payment. You generally get the stuff through the post a few days after the changed payements in your bank account.
