I made the mistake of using the kiddie toothpaste on ds1 and as he has quite weak teeth, he ended up with 4 teeth out at the age of 4 and 2 more which they were undecided on...he still has them (molars) but they will be due to fall out soon anyway. I was only told about the lack of flouride in our area after I had ds2 so only used the baby toothpaste until he was 6mths old (no problems with his teeth).....with K I have just used an adult one straight away.

Just had a call, our fridge freezer will be delivered on Friday morning, only thing is we need to get ds2 to hospital for an appt and we lose our old car tomorrow and won't get our new one back until fri/sat morn!!! So were going to get the bus to the hosp...now we need to find a way for me to get to the hospital with K and ds2 (I don't think I want to struggle on and off the bus on my own) We need to get dh mate up here to help him with the fridge freezer and he doesn't have a car (and we won't have ours back by then) Then if ours is ready we need to find a way to Liverpool to collect it (bit out in the sticks) Plus ds2 is meant to be going to his beavers annual meeting thing on friday after school.....as it is St Georges day(i think that's the right one) but obviously we may not have the car by then:( Everything all comes at once.....we need to find time to pack to go away saturday too, and IF the car isn't ready by saturday, we will need to go and hire one....I feel like crying trying to work it all out and when I went upstairs to tell dh, I got as far as 'the fridge freezer is coming friday morning' and he immediately barked at me not to present him with 'problems'........Right F U...you sort it all out then, and if nothing gets done then balls to you it's all your fault, I am in tears now because everything always falls to me and I say I will leave it to him but I won't, because he isn't the one who misses out the kids do!!!

Aww big hugs Aless :( how annoying to jump through pointless hoops!

And Weezl, overjoyed to see you posting again :D and lovely pic of Fergie! I know you're busy but check in regularly!

And welcome back Millie's Mum :p
Someone mistook El for a boy in Asda this morning, (yes she has a blue coat but it has a pattern of daffodils all over it) how very dare they!

People quite often mistake Elijah for a girl :( he is cute and has long blonde hair :/ we bravely cut it a bit in his highchair in the garden at the weekend to try to improve gender recognition! But it is still long ;)
I'm much older and very hard. Not bothered in slightest by dentist or the needles. :D

Not enough Flouride, plus there are sweetners in childrens toothpastes. Took me ages to get Joe off fruity kids toothpastes. Complained mine was too minty. He now happily uses Childrens Sensodyne, and the dentist said that was fine.

E is quite a fan of tooth-brushing but he must do it himself for 80% of the time and that time is spent brushing his 4 front teeth or chewing on it. Then occasionally I wrestle it away to get at the back teeth.

But recently I have managed to lose the baby toothpaste (trying to hide it from him... too well...) - it is very comic to see his face scrunch up now at the taste of the adult toothpaste  :D but he still wants more, he just scrunches in between scrubs :p whereas with baby toothpaste he would demand reapplication several times each brushing he is now a bit more cautious!

In laws: are coming on sunday and are expecting 2 meals cooking. :( DH asked them to bring food but this was ridiculed as not what's done in their family. Feel a bit grrr and unloved about this, but will probably just get on with it!
    :grouphug: We love you.

I think your in laws are totally unreasonable. You just don't make those kinds of demands of other people and if someone is allowing you to be a guest in their home then you follow their rules - not expect your host to conform to your standards. And you are a family in your own right now so it is not their place to dictate to you. I always thought it was fairly standard practice to offer to bring food and/or help with cooking when going to stay somewhere. I know it doesn't help practically butI thought I'd say it so that you don't start to feel like you are the one being unreasonable.

When you say two meals cooking, do you mean that they expect two hot meals or just two meals? How about something like a lasagne which you can prepare in advance so it just needs to be stuck in the oven at the right time? For the second meal, you could do "make your own" sandwiches (i.e. bread, butter and sandwich filling sout on the table for people to assemble as required) or a pre-made soup which can be just stuck on the hob.

Perhaps you could have some pre-prepared answers to give in case they complain along the lines of, "I like to keep cooking to a minimum when I have company/have a small baby." or, "You're welcome to help me make something more involved but I don't have the time/energy with Kester/Fergus both being so young." Or you could perhape casually drop into conversation before the meal something along the lines of, "I prepared the lasagne yesterday so that I wouldn't have to spend today slaving away in the kitchen."

thanks all. Like i said, i'm actually not hugely bothered...just more embarrassed as it's quite a small organisation (only 12 people at the moment), so everyone's going to know about it. One good thing about being on maternity leave, i suppose!

And they actually did the external candidates interviews a few weeks back, so i'll just console myself with telling myself they must've found someone perfectly qualified and amazing (it's quite a specialist role which i'm only part-qualified for, but other ppl that have been hired in the past have been trained so i didn't see it being an issue). :p

Oh well I think they are a waste of money Kindof! How much will it cost to fund it? Plus apparently you have to buy them yourself. It reminds me of the Jews during Hitler's reign, having to show their papers etc. Sod that. Since when did the UK have a HUGE terrorist base? Okay 7/11, and you get the odd crank trying to blow a plane up still, but you always get weirdos!

If they want me to carry an I.D card, then they can flippin' well pay for it.

Do you not think people will just think the UK are a bunch of nut jobs?

Yes I know you have to buy them yourself and I still wouldnt have a problem with it, dont USA have them and if a policeman stops you and asks for your ID and you dont have it you get arrested?

I think thats a good idea, then all the trouble makers would hopefully not be able to cause trouble

Aless - thats why I love living in Northumberland, yes my wages are !!!! IMO (I get £16,853 a year and ive worked there 12 years, starting wage was £9k, and not to big myself up but I have an important job, I deal with state pension, I calculate and award and pay the state pensions to pensioners) my friend moved to Croyden to live with her boyfriend and their baby (he runs family business down there so cant move up here) and they have a very small 2 bed house and it cost £265k, I have a nice sized 3 bedroom semi and it cost £112 (and yes its in a nice area lol)

Aww Nikkit those photos are lush, everytime E smiles I miss it with the blooming camera lol, the HV was getting loads of smiles off him yesterday lol

Well after his scream a thon yesteday he slept from 8.15pm - 1.30am, he was so wrecked, I am having a bit of a mare with him today as well, he was wrecked this morning still and kept falling asleep in my arms but woke after 5 mins and started crying, the only place I could get him to slleep was on my bed between some pillows, so I stayed with him and read, he managed half anhour on there then woke up wanting fed again

Oh god, I've been trying to settle him since pretty much 7am :( he is so tired but then cries so much that he then wont settle to sleep, he is currently laying in his pram asleep after me singing to him  lol I hope he sleeps a while, he really needs it

I dont think he likes his moses basket anymore, I got him to sleep by singing and went to put him in it and he then started screaming again, so I lifted him back out and started singing again to calm him then put him in his pram his eyes were open but I moved the pram back and forth and he fell straight asleep, the same happened yesterday as well

I even tried him in his cot in his room and he seemed to love the squsihyness of the mattress, he happily lay there for half an hour (awake) he wont lay in his moses basket at all :(

My mam suggested maybe its time to put him in his room in his cot with the monitors on? what do you guys think about that?

Forgot to say yesterday the HV agreed it looks like E has a tooth coming in  75% of his gums are white and there is a deffo a tooth poking through (he's only 5 weeks!), so I need teething help tips please

Ok I am going to attempt to continue catching up while he is asleep

Has anyone registered their baby with a dentist yet?
We did the first time we went after Alice was born - I think she was about five months.

Yes, i'd put him in his cot :) We did with Elliot as he didn't sleep too well in our room in the moses basket. He has always loved his cot!

They won't all pop up at once, but will probably drive him mad for ages sadly. Teething gel is still a life saver for us, but at it's worst-cuddles and love helps with Elliots teething the most! We use calpol when needed, usually only at night though when he is in so much pain with it he can't sleep.
