Well done on the weight gain elastigirl, that's brilliant.

Aless/Elastigirl, we loved baby massage here. We did it at the SS centre and I put us on the waiting list when C was 6 weeks old. I think she was about 14 weeks old when we finally got to do it. It was only a 3 week course because demand was so high.

Fitzio, thank you :). I know she'll get better at being left, she's usually a very sociable little girl, so I guess it's just fear of the unknown and whether mummy is ever coming back to get her. It must be similar to being lost when you're a child and feeling the fear of "where's my mummy". We've got quite a wide circle of friends and I've got a large family, so she's been used to being around lots of people from an early age, but she's never been left with anyone except my parents and the ILs.

Grr, just need to forget about it until Monday really as I don't want it to spoil my last weekend of ML but I know I'm going to be thinking about it until we go back.

I am not due back until August, but listening to you and Pink Pig is definitely making me think about how I am going to prepare for it. Holly has been left with my parents and MIL on a couple of occasions, but not for long periods of time. In fact we are going to a wedding tonight and my parents are coming round and that will be the longest she has been without us. I might need to do it more often and leave her with friends for a while too. She gets exposed to loads of different people, but I suppose I am always there.

Enjoy your last weekend of M/L. The thought of going back to work fills me with dread, but needs must. :(

Warning, feeling sorry for myself post coming up...

After feeling guilty yesterday morning for feeling ill and not doing much with C, I felt even more guilty yesterday afternoon when she literally screamed pretty much the whole way through her second settling-in session at nursery. On Tuesday she was fine, but that was because I was with her. Yesterday I left her and she was so upset, it made me cry too (although I waited until I was out of sight) but all I could her was her screaming, not even just crying :(

She only took 20mls of milk and ate an oat cake whilst she was there (was there for 2hrs). She fell asleep for 20mins in one of the nursery nurse's arms, so that's one positive but I feel like crap for subjecting her to it and knowing that I could instantly stop her from being upset if I just went in and picked her up.

They're letting me take her back on Monday afternoon for another go, but I just know it's going to be the same, and I'm working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week (she's due to go to nursery Wed afternoon and all day Thursday).

    xxx

choppy, she will get used to you not being there. that she fell asleep to me shows that she was relaxing to it. try not to work yourself up as C will prob feel your stress and anxiety too. to me part of the settling in sessions is for LO to get used to the sights, sounds and smells of somewhere outisde the home. for some babies they just take a little longer to adjust. i;m sure once she gets playing with the toys she will forget that you're not there. abd you will be fine too. i;m back to work in 2 1/2 wks and although i'm looking forward to it i know those first few days will kill me inside... :(

ETA:- i find with Kian, once he sees me smiling and being happy with someone else he does the same, he must sense that seeing as i'm smiling the person is ok...
    does that make sense??

Thanks girls, I'm sat here crying now reading your responses. I'm so pathetic!

Caitlin has been left for 24 hours before with my parents and was absolutely fine, and she has stayed with the ILs overnight twice before too. I think it's the "strangers" business, as she knows both sets of parents well now, especially my mum. My mum has been looking after her for one day a week the past few weeks whilst I've been doing KIT days and she's been fine with her.

Jillie, you're right about the toys and things and she was paying a bit of interest in her surroundings even though she was sitting on the nursery nurse's lap and crying. I just need to keep at it I guess :)

I'm off to get dressed now, as we shouldn't really be inside on a day like today!

    Thank you again xxx

Chris was sick this morning but now seems fine.

Amber has been sick in her cot and when I brought her through she was struggling to bring up phlegm. She's ate some cereal, a mouthful of milk and is now sitting in her baby chair looking very sad. She's just lying there staring sadly at everything. If you speak to her she's just making a little meow noise. My poor baby, first time she's been ill so I am allowed to totally over react. (I have her covered in a towel ready for Mount St Breakfast eruption)

    And we have had eruption.

Chris is fine, so is Michael. Just Amber.
  • Hugs to Amber.

Baby Sensory has been cancelled as the lady has a D&V bug. It's like an epidemic. We're off for a lovely walk instead, although it's suddenly gone all grey. Hopefully the sun will come out soon. Better go and get dresses cos I've been a lazy mare this morning and am still in my PJs!

    Morning :)

The HV is round today at 12. I wonder how much Lily weighs now? :D

I should go and get dressed, but i really cba at the moment.

How long does it usually take for your first AF to come after birth? Lily is 5 weeks old now.

Also in her blue book they've put down her delivery time wrong. Should i mention it?

Kindof, i never know when Lily has pooed as it doesn't smell outside her nappy. I check her alot during the day but when i change her in the morning, if there is poo i feel instantly guilty for leaving her in it for 3ish hours. Even though i dont know when its happened :rotfl:

Once i change her though the smell hits the back of my throat and its not nice! :rotfl:

I would say leave him until he wakes up, its clearly not bothering him :)
