MFD, my main problem is his thoughtlessness - he left a bag of tacks on the floor today, wall tacks about 1.5cm long, and I found them when Molly had got hold of them and was playing with them, cue a frantic search for the one that was missing. And then a while ago he was looking for something so I went into the living room to find Molly standing on the changing table, propped up against a mirror, while he was far enough away that he couldn't have caught her if she'd fallen. He does a lot of fantastic stuff with her and he's a great father but I spend most of my time on edge because I'm not always there to scoop up the sharp things or catch her as she throws herself backwards.

He deals with her much differently to the way I do and that's fine, but I also think there are some things that are nonnegotiable and they tend to be the things that stress me out. I hate feeling like I have to idiot check everything he does because he isn't an idiot - he just doesn't see some things I think are obvious.

Edit: sorry Caz, I'm with Charlie and BM :)

    Oops! :p

    Well I can quote now.

Sounds tricky SS, I get cross but my OH never sees the same danger I do. And is never fast enough when things do happen, I call him Eyeore. :o Hope you work it out. X

Well I've uninstallled IE8, so fingers crossed.
Too many children, too little time!!!

  • Hmm - I am the 'thoughtless' one around here who lets Benjamin get on with stuff so I should probably keep schtum!!

She won't be little for long *shrugs shoulders* no harm has come to her, what's the point in worrying about it?

    *Waits to get shot!!*

Benjamin had a bouncy ball at BILs last night, he put it in his mouth - it was quite a big ball and he had to stretch his mouth to get it in (it was probably too small for him to be playing with to be fair). Hubby did a big overreaction thing, I just asked him to spit it out and he did. Hubby wouldn't give it him back...I would have :rotfl:
Am I wrong or is he? I let hubby have his way because he was upset (said his heart was racing and he had panicked). I think he was happy playing with the ball, he needs to learn not to put things in his mouth, keep an eye on him and move on.
I would hate it if hubby held my attitude against me, it is just different to his.

I appreciate that this is not the same as tacks but if Benjamin gets hold of something for whatever reason I would just take it off him and forget about it.

Oooo - maybe I am a slack mummy, certainly more negotiable ;):D

pinkpig - she is so gorgeous!

It sounds ideal Glam, but would OH be able to find work there? Can he set himself up as a private practice or would he have to commute?

Molly loves computer cables, and she's bizarrely strong so is often caught attempting to pull laptops towards herself - fortunately the only time she gets near the laptops is when she's on someone's lap and we can rescue them. I need to buy a sleeve for my new teeny laptop, it'll be mostly for travelling but as this one is on its way out it seemed like a good purchase.

*adds "back everything up to external drive" to to-do list*

He's just doing analysis work with the NHS at the moment so could get something similar - his current contract has been extended until December so we can keep an eye out and see what jobs are about between now and then.
I'm hoping that I don't need to work but if I do then I'll just get something part-time - I wouldn't mind going back to doing admin or reception work rather than management.

Having a child changed my perspective on life? :o Looks like it!

I managed to leave Jack for over an hour today :j and he didn't cry!

MFD - I was taking the skin off a hot potato while holding Jack and I kept telling him not to touch it but he insisted and it hurt him because it was hot - OH had a right moan but my philosophy is he won't do it again and he hasn't!

*waits for the onslaught that I shouldn't be holding whilst cooking* :)

I'd have let her keep the ball in Benjamin's position too, and she has little foam balls that you use to make clown noses with and I've no problem with those *shrugs*

But she was trying to put 1.5cm spikes in her mouth and I refuse to accept that I'm overly concerned for not thinking that this is just a different parenting style.

*shoots MFD with catapult and gapes at Glam*

Well I didn't just watch Maddy get to the second stair.

And she just crawled over to the sofa, got on her knees and actually got up and stood, eeek, I'm not ready........was because the remote was there.
