Congrats Michelle - sounds like a difficult labour, but glad you got through it ok and Charlie is fine.

I suffered with heartburn with both my previous babies. One has medium brown hair and the other is light brown with blonde highlights, so I'm blowing another theory!
Here I go again on my own....

    http://www.babyexpert.co.uk/newsletters/genderchart.html

Just found out that my local hospital has refurbished the side rooms that cost £50 a night last time I was there, and they now charge £200 a night for the pleasure of having a bit of privacy!!!!!!

As I will be in for 3 nights because of c section, I was really hoping to have one of these rooms - it was a godsend last time, having spent one night on the ward I got absolutely no sleep whatsoever. I can't afford £200 a night though, even the money I get from my Foresters healthcare plan won't pay half the bill.

So, any tips on how to survive sleeping on the ward? Earplugs I'm told are good, but the ones I've tried in the past just fall out. Any recommendations?? I'm dreading this stay in hospital now that I know a side room isn't going to be an option :(, I like my privacy.

Isn't it just. Thieving robbing wotsits. That's what you get for living near Tunbridge Wells. If you could see the state of the hospital, you'd be even more outraged. It's a hovel!

Hi Lyndsey, welcome to the forum!

Find the last set of EDDs, copy and paste it into a message then add your date.

You're due the day before me so I'm glad you've created a bit more of a buffer between now and when I'm due. I'm hoping to be late!

    Hi Guys

I'm 14 weeks now and really fed up, I have been off work for 4 weeks with nausea/vomiting and a UTI.

I went back on Friday (27th) and I was sick 4 times by 2 pm, felt really light headed and had to get my DH to come and take me home at 3:30pm - I was supposed to work until 5:30

I am a theatre scrub nurse and being like that at work is not safe.

I am sooooo bored at home I cannot stand it. My DH works 9 to 5 and so do most of my friends.

Any exertion makes me sick, even a brisk walk or climbing the stairs, even hold a telephone receiver near my face makes me retch.

I have always had motion sickness, I get migraines with nausea and dysmenorrhoea with vomiting, so I expected some pregnancy related nausea.

I have tried all the usual remedies, ginger, dry biscuits before getting up, sea sickness bands.

Has anyone triend any alternative therapies that have worked, I really am at my wits end. :(

  • I think it's just a case of trial and error with finding how to reduce the sickness. I tried all the things they say and had three different types of medication before ending up in hospital. The main way that being in hospital helped me (apart from the drip rehydrating me) was that I could sit around doing nothing all day apart from having to walk to the toilet. Luckily for me, my husband can come home at lunch time so is able to cook all my meals for me and also leaves drinks/snacks and anything else I might want while he's out on the table next to me. The only thing I'd say is that even though it can be really difficult to do this, it realy is worth trying to eat even if you know you're going to be sick soon as it is so much worse vommiting bile than food.

    Thanks Susancarter,

I am the same , if I do nothing, then I'm OK and can eat, little and often, if I eat a normal sized meal I'll be sick.

This makes me feel like a fraud, being off work for being sick when I'm not actually being sick. I'm only sick if I move about, this is making me feel guilty and miserable.
