  • I've got a bra question :o

I'm normally on the small side but at only 12 weeks pregnant mine have already grown somewhat. I think I'm going to need a new bra soon but as I suspect they'll grow again how do I choose one of the right size that will last?

    Thanks

From experience, you can't buy one that lasts as both your breasts and your rib cage will get bigger as you progress through the pregnancy.

Comfort is very important, especially when they get big and heavy, so I would buy one that fits now but expect to buy one again later. To save money I'm just buying two at a time - one on and one in the wash!

Once you get to 7+ months, if you intend to breast feed, you might as well get nursing bras and hope they last till you give birth.

I'm on my third pregnancy and only 6 weeks pregnant, but have gone up two cup sizes already  I normally wear neat fitted blouses for work, but can't get the buttons done up across my chest anymore :o

I went into M&S to get measured and essentially was told that a support bra or maternity bra would do. So I then went to matalan and picked out a couple of their cheap support bras.

I'm at 32+ weeks at the moment and haven't yet got a nursing bra. Will sort that eventually, but don't see the point in spending cash until I really need to.

I very small up front and I was looking foward to having bigger breasts but I'm 10 weeks and they've hardly grown.

With my first child I only went up one cup.

These days the health care etc we receive is so good relative to the past that I think a lot of the advice we are given is unlikely to make a significant difference (e.g. how likely are we to get salmonella from raw eggs when chickens are now vaccinated?) However one reason we have less babies is because most babies do survive and are healthy. I guess we just have to decide for ourselves whether we think a particular piece of advice is worth taking. Personally I'm avoiding peanuts 100% as my husband is allergic to them and his mum ate loads of them when she was pregnant but I'm not so particular about the other things.

I went to M&S to get measured at 24 weeks. Have gone up from 34 B/C to 36DD!! They do a 2-pack (one white, one black) of maternity bras for £20. :money: Bought these and they are v comfy, if not the sexiest thing I've ever worn!

Take a look at JoJo Maman Bebe - they do some really good buy 3 get £10 off deals on some maternity/nursing bras. my next purchase will be some of these so they will see me through the last 10 weeks and then into breastfeeding, plus they look a bit nicer than the M&S ones.

quick tip - a mate of mine convinced her hubby that nursing bras were sexy by telling him they were peephole!! Bless, he must just have been playing along.;)

I went to Mothercare today as it's the nearest shop for maternity wear and has free parking!

I bought some bra's earlier this year and was measured as 34D. I got measured this morning and was told I'm a 36E, and I'm only 6 weeks pregnant  Anyway got some lovely comfy bras, that feel much better than squashing them into my old ones! They don't look very sexy, but they feel fantastic which is the main thing :D

They had single bra's starting from £12 each or multipacks of 2 starting from £22. The multipacks were either 2 white, 1 white and 1 black, or packs with different colours and prints in.

First time around I had a horrific labour experience. 3 days of contractions, got sent home once, daughter was in some weird position with her head tipped back in my pelvis and was totally stuck, hence my labour couldn't progress. Even the surgeon that carried out the emergency caesarean said that she was hard to get out that way and I'd never have pushed her out.

Which means this time, it is quite unlikely that exactly the same will happen and I've every chance of a normal delivery. TBH I'm scared stiff of the whole birthing prospect but think I'm marginally more nervous about having a section, so swinging towards giving natural a go again.

However, speaking to someone today they said that if you've had a c section with your first, they won't let you labour for more than 7 hours next time. This doesn't sound very long for what is essentially a first natural delivery. In which case I'll probably end up with a c section anyway.

Has anyone got any experience of vbac, would be interested to hear what has happened to others. I've got a 36 week appointment with the consultant tomorrow to discuss precisely this issue, but am sure that they'll try to dissuade me from having an elective section, so would be grateful for any non biased opinions.
  • Hello everyone,

I am finding it difficult to keep up with this thread at the moment, its so busy,i just have to grab the snippets I can, as my online time is less and less.

Just to update you all, I spent a day and a half in hospital over Friday/Saturday. I started getting contractions, so they had to keep me in to monitor in case I went into labour. I was given an injection to prepare his little lungs just in case. I had to be ambulanced to another hospital as the one i'm booked with can't take babies younger than 34 weeks.

Fortunately it all turned out well, my waters didn't break and I didn't bleed. Olo is hanging in there fine and I was discharged late saturday night, as I didn't want to stay. I knew I'd sleep better in my own bed. I've been told to take a week off work and stop rushing about like a blue bottomed fly!

I'm hoping to return to work in a week though, although they've said they want a fit to return form from my doctor as they don't want me to have a repeat performance.

I have a hiatus hernia and am finding that quite uncomfortable when the little lad sits himself right on top of it. At times it can make me sick or in pain, my doctor told me to massage it or reposition myself to get him to move. Unfortunately there is not much else I can do? Has anyone else got experience of this, gaviscon only does so much for the reflux but hopeless for a wiggling baby sitting on a hernia!

I read the bit about bra's, i went to marks too for fitting and they spent over half an hour with me, trying to find the best fit etc. I was well impressed.

Hope everyone is feeling well. The evenings are drawing in and autumn is here I think!
