I got a scan at week 12...but in all honestly things fly by so fast. It seems only yesterday I told my partner I was pregnant...but I'm now at week 23 and my body has most definately grown.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

You can have a scan whenever you like, if you don't mind paying Bupa for it (although they can't see anything through the tummy until after about six/seven weeks)."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
A part of me wants to go see the GP to get info, get checked out etc. But I just remember her face when I asked her to tell me how to lose weight. All excercise equipment etc says check with your doctor - and being stupidly unfit and overweight I went to see if my heart was up to it. She just looked at me like I was stupid and gave me no advice. She'll probably give me the same look when I turn up possibly pregnant.
In Poland women get checked out regularly by GPs - just on a preventative basis. And if you're looking to get pregnant - according to the forums - you start with a series of blood tests, catch up on vaccinations, get advice on nutrition, supplementation etc. So the GP is sure to give you and baby best start possible. Here it seems to be more of a DIY jobby and I am seriously getting confused and worried!
I'm sure it will all be fine and straightforward though:o:wall:0 -
I used to be a legal exec (before I became a SAHM:D) in commercial contract law & for these purposes email was considered as good as any other form of written word, as long as you get either proof of delivery or a response. Also keep hard copies of all emails.

Boss is happy with the email. I have copies, and he has read receipts. So that's all sorted then. Looks like they're happy to give me as much flexibility as want. How lucky am I.

Agutka wrote:I've just been thinking. I could get pregnant by next week, but then you have to wait to week 20 to have a scan! That is soooo long away. Isn't the suspense too much to bear? Or do you just get on with life as normal?
It depends on where you live. Where i live you have a 12 week dating scan and a 20 week detailed scan. Some areas are only 12 week and some just 20 weeks..
The waiting is a nightmaire depending how you feel-some like me worry and witter on for ever (well untill baba pops out:embarasse ) and some people just get on with it. Ive had my 12 week scan and 3 weeks tomorrow is my 20 week scan  i REALLY CANT WAIT.

Hi Agutka,
Most areas do a 12 weeks scan, which is generally called a "dating scan". It is usually around this time that the babies measurements are acurate enough to work out your expected due date.
If you are very overweight, it may cause problems with conception, and may also make it harder for you (and your heart) when pregnant.
You can always see your GP , and have a word about a pre pregnancy health check, or if you wanted to, you could chat to the nurse at your surgery.

false negatives on testing ........... how common / likely do you think they are?
basically were trying to conceive and after my mcarriage in may im just a mess each mth when it comes to period time! this mth i know we "tried" lots on my fertile days and i just feel different...although maybe im convincing myself, ill admit.
anyway, peirod due today, no sign and no sore boobs as i would usually get (soz if TMI) and ive been nauseous all week, was actually sick on tues (i know MS wouldnt start yet.would it? but cant help but think......) so anyway i have done a test today and was neg..but is it too early or what?
or should i just face facts that im not preg?
pls help and advise!0 -
PS when i was preg my dating scan was delayed to 15 weeks due to a backlog, so wish it had been earlier as at 12 weeks we told every1 and then at 15 weeks we were told bad news..not meaning to scare anyone, just meaning i will be defo begging for an earlier scan (how much at BUPA btw?)0

Don't worry about it and relax emma_b. In February before I had my last period I had a 'feeling'. Can't explain it, but something was different. But eventually along came a period...and I put it down to my usual worries over this and that. Next month came, and I noticed a few spots...thought that was weired. So did a test, and it was positive.
I didn't feel any different (ie, no sore boobs, no sickness etc...) when I did the test.
Now I'm 23 weeks along, and feeling completely shattered, my body has grown in all sorts of ways and my little girls is doing very nicely.
If you work it out you'll realise that in February I was actually only just pregnant.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
