It could be implantation bleeding (as the embryo implants it can dislodge a bit of blood in the endometrium) - I'd wait till Saturday and then test

Her period is always bright red and she is as regular as clock work, well within about 4 hours. Is there any chance that she is not pregnant or is it more likely that she is?

You can't tell what's more likely I'm afraid (as the discharge could be a number of things), although if she is pregnant and losing blood, then its not really a good sign.

There are tests that you can take to test a couple of days before your period, may be worth having a look at the Chemist (although Saturday isn't that far away).

I will tell her! THANKS for responding! I suppose 3 days isn't that long to wait but sometimes it seems like forever.

    Here we go:

This one should work tomorrow if she took the test.

If it's positive and she thinks that she's losing blood, then I would advise her to take it easy, lay down as much as possible and get someone to fuss over her until she can see the doctor / or it stops fully.

    Take care (and good luck!)

She is going to get the test in the morning and try it then she says!

If you don't mind I have a few questions.

    - Can you exercise (jogging, rowing etc) when pregnant - or just take-it-easy stretch exercises?
    - Do you have to watch your diet or does that take care of itself?
    - From what I can understand you should be having sex before just before you ovulate, so what are ovulation kits for?
    - should I put off getting pregnant until I lose weight?

Turns out I know NOTHING about this baby making business and am getting more confused the more I read up on it

    Hi all,

I have had 4 pregnancies; three kids. I am offering any advice I can give-which is not very up to date. I have a 13-going on 23 yr old daughter, and 2 boys aged 10 & 8. (I maybe too old for this thread; so feel free to redirect this message) but if anyone wants an honest answer to anything which you may feel is a daft question I won't think its stupid.

I am not a doctor or a nurse. I can only give my opinion/experience; not any medical advice.

Just a bit of background.. I was 23 when we decided we would try for a baby and stopped using the pill - we were told by the doctor dont worry for the first year or so-erm bang first month; found out after a game of squash - and she is turning out to be a mini me! So yes you can excercise but I dont think I would recommend squash at 8 weeks (feels like you have a stitch all the time).

Not sure what you mean Agutka by losing weight before you get pregnant? I dont think weight matters in the pregnancy game, does it?

Good luck all to you all.
