Septemberbaby - My sister is 21 weeks pregnant & the placenta is at the front. She has been suffering quiet bad stomach pains which she had to keep going back to the GP/Midwife about. It was then that they found the placenta at the front.
She's doing just fine, she has a huge bump & the baby is kicking her in the ribs lots!
I went to her scan yesterday & she's having another girl! how exciting! (this is good as she already has a daughter of 3 1/2,who insist's it has to be a girl as she doesnt like boys!):rotfl:

forgot to say that the placenta's quiet low so she's got to go back at 36wks for another scan. Other than that everythings going well!

How fab to be pregnant along with your sister! :D

The MW said the placenta will probably move when I get a bit bigger so I'm hoping for those kicks in the ribs soon although I'm told I will regret saying that when they start all through the night :rotfl:

Glad your sister is doing well.

Something SpetemberBaby said has made me wonder...
What classes are you lot attending throughout your pregnancy?
What I have been offered is:

One-off one hour session at physiotherapy dept in week 15-20 - where they tallk about exercise in pregnancy including pelvic floor excercises

A one off two-hour session in week 30 about coping with labour

Parenting class (for first timers) - 4x 1.5 hour sessions in month 8

NCT antenatal class - £200!! - supposed to be 24 hours overall - leading up to the birth and then some sessions after - good idea as you get to meet people, BUT we just found out that there is a teacher shortage, so all we can get are two all day saturday sessions before baby, which hubby is not happy about (reminds him of our church pre-marital course, which was a nightmare, except this time he HAS to pay attention) - this class is going to be in month 8-9, depending when they fit you in.

And that's it. So I have nothing till august and septemberbaby is attending classes already? (jealous:o )

I'm jealous of you Agutka - we didn't get anywhere near that much!! :)
Our area just offers 2x 2hour sessions, one on labour and pain relief and the other on feeding your baby. Think these were about month 7.
So we did the NCT ones too (not very moneysaving, but definitely glad we did!) We had to go for the 2x Saturday classes, as everything else was booked up. Ours were literally the week before my due date, so it was fortunate that baby didn't come early. In fact I kept telling people "We can't have the baby until after the NCT classes" (and baby obviously realised it wasn't safe to enter the world any sooner!!!)

You are doing better than me! I haven't been offered any classes or even info/booklets yet. I think my midwifery team are hopeless!

P.S. Please can somebody put me on the list for 19/8/07 because I'm getting lonely not being on the list.

    Thanks
    Ella

Hey, just noticed you're in Basingstoke - that's where I had my DS almost 4 years ago. :)

Back then, we got pretty good antenatal classes: I think it was 6 sessions, once a week, or something like that. It was quite good in terms of meeting people etc, and the best bit was an evening session when the partners were invited, and as a special treat, the MW running it brought us all a real placenta to see! Seriously, in a "Hospital waste, incinerate only" - type bag. You should've seen all the blokes' faces :rotfl:

    Ah, the memories. :D

    Aww Agutka!!!

My classes are at my local SureStart Childrens Centre. I have not even looked into what is on offer from the 'normal' NHS classes (yet!). I joined when I did because the Centre's timetable only runs to July so the next set of classes might be too late for me. I was told that the 'normal' NHS classes are usually oversubscribed but the class I attend only has 8 women plus partners!

So far we have covered labour, pain relief and feeding. We're off next week but the week after we have a Child Clincial Psychologist (like Dr Tanya!) coming in to talk to us. Can't wait for that one! On the final week we are having a tour around the maternity hospital.

When I'm 24 weeks I can join the breathing classes which are seperate and every fortnight (plus there are aqua natal classes and antenatal yoga available!). I would urge anyone to check out their local Centre to see whats on offer.

We are members of the NCT but have not looked into their courses and probably won't do so after seeing what they cost!

Hi, thanks I have been looking all over for a nursing bra not wanting to spend £25+ (in true moneysaving style) - my beautiful Libbie May is now four days old and I am at the toe curling stage of breastfeeding, how long before it stops making your eyes water ? do breastpumps work and can you use them from newborn stage ?

p.s. I'm Mrs.Kennyjosiah in case you're wondering how he's managing to breastfeed (he's good but not that good)
