Thanks Justie. What I learnt there is that I should basically go see my GP again - haven't seen her since week 6, when I told her I was pregnant. Maybe I'm getting wrong information. Definitely confused. She can at least help narrow down my options, hopefully...
I cannot believe how they just leave you to your own devices with this whole pregnancy thing. Make your own appointments, do your own research, don't bother us... Thank goodness I've not had any problems.

and relax... well after reading up about it I've decided to ditch the clarityn and use the flixonase nasal spray as even though it's a steroid there are some guidelines for it and as it's topical it's less likely to get into the bloodstream. If I need tablets as well (as I usually do) then I'll have to make do with piriton and just hope they don't make me even more sleepy than I am already

Hi, you may find that the pregnancy helps with your hay fever - mine certainly did. I used Nasaleze natural hay fever remedy - it's a nasal spray with no active ingredients:

Himself uses Potter's allerclear nasal spray and eye drops, (they also do tablets too). He think they're fantastic, and although I'm pretty sure he's not pregnant I know they are safe during pregnancy, (although they say to check with your pharmacist if in early pregnancy)! He actually finds the nasal spray better than the commercial ones (Allerclear is herbal btw). They have a website http://www.allerclear.co.uk/ and they're very lovely people, if you email them and ask nicely they might send you some to try out :-)

I hope your hayfever feels a bit better soon :-)

Did any of you have to/get to choose a hospital?

I had a choice. I live in Co Durham, but could have had the baby either in Durham hospital or the QE in Gateshead, as I live roughly in the middle of them!

I picked Durham as that's what health authority I'm under, and I'm used to the hospital and it's easier to get to.

Gateshead is a nightmare to get to in rush hour traffic, and I didn't want a Geordie born baby as I'm a Sunderland supporter  :D
Here I go again on my own....

Did any of you have to/get to choose a hospital? I've posted on Emma's Diary and it seems nobody is in a situation like me  .
13 weeks and counting, after my 12 week scan I was told that I need to make an appointment to the 20 week scan and booking in appt with midwife at my chosen hospital. And there seem to be many to choose from - five that I can think of off the top of my head. I've visited two and have no idea what I am looking for...
What was important to you girls at a hospital birth??

    Hi

I may be wrong in thinking this but I seem to remember reading that you are in Bracknell? If so, I personally recommend Frimley Hospital which is where I had my second and I have also been in there for other things, I would also not hesitate using it for future pregnancies too. My friend lives in Bracknell and also went to Frimley as she wasn't impressed with the other options. They and most other hospitals offer visits where you can have a tour around the unit, so its worth contacting the hospitals to find out when their tours are.

    Hope this helps.

    Hay fever question

argh just seen my GP who has prescribed clarityn (loratadine)for my hay fever after looking at the info about it - I then get the box of tablets from the pharmacist and it says very clearly on the box, Do not use if pregnant or breast feeding. I've now looked on the electronic drug database and it says clearly on there do not use if pregnant as safety hasn't been established

Now I know it often comes down to risks versus benefits but I'm not taking something that says very clearly we have no idea if it's safe or not so don't take it...
so as well as having a moan I was just wondering what other people have taken for hay fever (I'm sure it's a short list) as I can hardly breathe at the moment...

I spoke with my pharmacist as I sometimes take Zyrtek for dermographia which I can't take now. She said that Piriton are okay in pregancy (though they do sweet FA for my itches - ho hum). Is it worth checking what your doctor says about these instead?

Well then, you have almost two days to get things going naturally! That's loads of time. As for the hospital stay, I'm sure you'll be too busy and in love to notice... Good luck!!
