Wait until you're 30 weeks and you can't get to sleep because the little monkey is doing the can can at 11.45pm, as mine was doing last night - grrr!

Hubby thought it was funny until I cuddled tight in so he was getting kicked as well :rotfl:
    :rotfl:

I'm trying not to think about it yet but I was lying in bed this morning poking bump and getting poked back and thinking blimey if it's like this now this is gonna hurt when s/he is bigger  :rotfl:

ok so because by boobs are obviously gonna get enormous what has anyone found is the best stretch mark prevention cream? im 6 weeks pregnant and they are agony specially at night and first thing,i wore a bra in bed last night but that seemed t make them even worse. also a friend told me not to wear underwired bras because they cause stretchmarks - can that be right - with boobs my size 36DD surely i need the extra support - i dont want them round my waist at the end of this!

It's not too bad really - just gets irritating if you are trying to get to sleep! Occasionally mine kicks up into my ribs while I'm eating which is uncomfortable, or she was punching into my lower back the other day, and I felt like she was going to fall out my bottom  :rotfl:

They'll be painful and uncomfortable for the first few weeks as your body goes through changes to get them ready for milk. It will settle down in time though.

You shouldn't wear underwire bras - something to do with the pressure of the wires can block the milk ducts and cause problems.

Have a look around for a decent maternity support bra. They are not sexy at all, but they are really comfortable and they help a lot.

Highly recommended as they are lovely and comfty for big boobs, and a lot cheaper than the high street.

I've never bothered with stretch mark cream, but I do rub body lotion all over after a bath/shower - more because I get dry skin than to prevent stretchmarks!

My son was just examining my tummy the other day and was asking what the purple lines were. I explained, and said the faint silvery lines that were still there was caused by him when he was in my tummy. He seemed quite proud that he left his mark :D

ok im a bit freaked out and worried - i'm not hugely fat but i am overweight and i have been on a healthy eating plan and have been doing regular exercise for the last 8 weeks - since we decided to get pregnant, i've been losing about a pound a week which i was happy with. im now 6 weeks pregnant and weighed myself this morning and have put on 5lbs IN A WEEK!! i havent eating anything out of the ordinary just the same as all the other weeks, ive done slightly less exercise but i dont know how i could have put on 5lbs. my boobs are feeling huge and have definitely gotten denser if you know what i mean, but i dont believe thats the sole reason. im distressed because i cant be putting on this much weight every week - it cant be good or healthy for me or the baby - especially when im in labour! anyone got any words of advice/wisdom?

Its pobably water retention..although you shouldnt be watching your weight just eating healthly so that your baby is geeting all that its needs..if you diet your body can release a poison into your bloodstream called ketoine which isnt good for the baby..
as long as you dont use preganacy as an excuse to eat for 2(or 3!) you will be fine..
And dont think about doing anything drastic after the birth as it takes 6 weeks at least for your tummy to go down after the trama of birth..
try not to get hung up on it..i put on 4.5 stone with my 1st child 8 years ago..whoops!! took me 18 month of sensible eating and exercise to get it off again..
this time i have put on 2.5 stone and have 2 weeks to go..
will worry about weight after i have had my beautiful baby..

oh great store thanks for that... :D

nadnad your boobs will settle down pretty quickly although they'll keep growing they'll be much less uncomfortable. I had to give up on underwires very early on as they were really uncomfortable and you should really try to avoid them as they can cause more problems. Debenhams used to do a Miriam Stoppard bra that had underwires suitable for pregnant women but they seem to have stopped them (just as I needed them  ). Any yes maternity bras are ugly  The best advice is to find ones that are comfy and cheap as your size will change 3-4 times during your pregnancy...

the research shows that stretch marks are genetic, either you'll get them or you won't... thankfully your boobs will grow more slowly than your belly (and possibly your thighs and bum  ) so hopefully you'll get fewer stretch marks there if you're susceptible. Just use a regular moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated but as nothing penetrates down to the growing layer there's not much you can do to stop stretch marks if you're going to get them I'm afraid.

I have been using bio-oil which you can get from boots and havent had any extra strechmark appear..
although not convinced this is due to bio-oil but still will continue wiuth the oil just in case..
By the way thanks for all those who posted about my weird pains..
no signs of labour so think it was the head engaging...

I have stretchmarks on my legs from being a teenager, so fully expected to get them on my tummy in previous pregnancies. However, for some wonderful reason I never did get them.

My mum didn't get any either, so perhaps it is generic, but then why did I get them on my legs ????

Well, didn't think I'd go from the EDD to pregnant list in one week! 5 weeks tomorrow, so very early, but have had full on morning sickness since Tuesday (found out Wednesday) so hopefully we're clinging on in there. Took fourteen months to conceive DS, then have tried on and off to conceive with no luck, so this month after my cycles started to mess about started taking my bbt and hit the jackpot. Found out earlier than last time but symptoms started earlier too. First day couldn't stop smiling, now the worries have kicked in, particularly as all the bumph from the docs (went yesterday) says only one scan at 19-20 weeks, not the one at 12 too which I thought was now standard here. Will be able to discuss it with midwife on 18th April (will be 8.5 weeks) as due to my age (will be 37 when baby is due) I might be eligible anyway. If it's not supplied, is it acceptable/easy to get a private 12 week scan, just to put my mind at rest that all is in the right place?
Other than that, chuffed to bits, although finding it tough chasing around after ds, yesterday he ran away from me at the park and I knew if I ran after him I'd puke! Congrats to everybody else who has only just found out too.
Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early :D

Congratulations Bun and all the other newly pregnants :)

I have to agree with the person who said if you're going to get stretch marks you'll get them and no amount of lotions will change that. I spent my entire pregnancy and a few weeks after pointing out how great it was I didn't have any stretch marks. They appeared about 6 weeks after she was born when I'd got back to my pre-pregnancy weight :o
