It must depend on where you live in the south east. My brother and SIL live in Whitstable, Kent. They get two scans and the nuchal downs scan is free on the NHS.

I'm in Co Durham, and I get two scans but was told I'd have to pay to go private for the nuchal one.

    West Kent.

Same as you, I would have had to pay to have the nuchal scan privately - the only test on offer here is the quad test. Even at my ripe old age (36).
  • Hey everyone,

I think i might be pregnant. but i`m not 100 %. a friend out mine announced last week that shes 14 weeks gone , i was quite upset and jealous when she told me so maybe its that.
my symptoms are feeling sick, i been feeling sicky on and off for the past 4-5 days. mostly late afternoon and evening. i`ve actually been sick twice in the past 3 days. My OH has told me that he thinks my boobs feel bigger and more squishy (dont you just love his descrition) but they dont hurt or anything. I`m peeing quite a lot, and i have this weird bloated type feeling in my lower tummy, almost like period pain but its not painfull. I`ve also been feeling quite tired and mongy/fuzzy cant concentrate, keep putting tea bags in coffee when i`m not paying absolute attention, i`m also really warm all the time OHwas freezing last night and wanted a cuddle and i kept moving away.

sorry to bore you all lol
    any opinions???
i`ve got a test but i`m kinda scared to use it and i dont need the loo at the mo any way.

    Test test test!

You might be, but the symptoms of early pregnancy are very varied between women and can be attributed to your normal hormone cycle, so the only way to be sure is to test. If you test now and it's negative, repeat the test with your first pee tomorrow morning because the hCG (hormone which the test measures) will be most concentrated in early-morning urine.

    Good luck!

as Eels says, do the test! It's the only way you'll know as the symptoms could be psychosomatic or could be something completely unrelated but they could also be the signs of pregnancy....

you'll need to do another one no matter what this one says anyway just to convince yourself ;)

I read on another board that in Scotland you don't get the 20 week scan  We get a 12 week and a 20 week one plus more if you need them and if you've had problems then you get extra early ones too.

You only get one in Scotland (12 Week?) - If you want another you can pay for one at 30 weeks and get a Dvd of it - Think it is £100!

Needed them as I was walking round with awful indigestion and trapped wind yesterday :o

Oh I'm going to regret embarrassing myself like this... Yesterday when I got home I had bad pains in my tummy. I knew it was trapped wind. However.....

.....it didn't stay trapped very long, or very quietly. I swear I wasn't like this before I was pregnant!!! :rotfl:

I have baby due in May... 2nd child.. getting nervious about all the hard work ahead....Got a free Avent bottle warmer... It is not that good... thankfuly I got if for free if I paid for it I would be well disappointed with wasting my money. You have to switch on/off at the mains when you are using it or not using it. It does not have a time so you have to do this yourself ....anyone got any easy ways to use the Avent bottle warmer... eg. does anyone just leave it plugged in?.. then just add the extra water when they need it.

I got one of these (actually paid good money for mine though lol) and it was the most useless piece of equipment I ever got, I think I used it twice and then went back to just using a jug with boiling water in lol

p.s. new to this thread due 9th July with a blue bump. Nice to meet you all.

My hubby has noticed this too, and he keeps yelling "impressive" and other words of encouragement at me :o :rotfl:

They had a book club in school a few weeks back and my 8 year old son brought a leaflet home and showed me a book he wanted. I said if he wanted it, he had to buy it with money out of his money box. I never checked what money he was taking.

He's came in all excited today as the book orders have come back, and he's also bought the baby a book. It's a cloth touchy feely book about Bob the frog, and he can't wait to read it to baby - awwww!
Here I go again on my own....

It depends on where in Scotland you are, as it varies a lot between different areas. I know some areas in Glasgow only offer one scan.

We get two thankfully (I'm 20 miles from Glasgow), but when I was having DS and we lived in the South East, we were supposed to have just the one (I had 3, due to complications).

Was it the Babyworld August club you read that in, by any chance? ;)
