I have a green frame for my scan they made by pampers. It came in the bounty pack my midwife gave me at the booking appointment.

You normally have two..one at around 12 weeks to check dates and one around 19/20 weeks depending on where you live..

Just to chip in, here in the southeast where I live, you only get one scan at 20 weeks

If anyone finds themselves in a similar position, I found there was a way round it - tell the midwife at your booking in appointment that you are not sure when you conceived as you have irregular periods (untrue here as I knew exactly when it happened) and then they will send you for a dating scan. It's a bit naughty I know, but I make no apologies for it - I think it's a flipping disgrace that they don't treat everyone the same and that they think one scan is sufficient. Didn't stop the sonographer from tutting and muttering all the way through our dating scan that she couldn't understand why the midwife had sent me :p

    Face... bovvered?? :D

Purple patch it is the same for us in the South West - one scan at 20 weeks, also I rarely see the midwife as well. There attitude is that I know what I am doing as this is my third pregnancy. I am 32+5 and have seen the midwive 3 times!
I did the same as you in regards to dating scan as I have a DD who is 18 months old and needed to be sure. It is appalling, they mention the state of NHS wards but to me the whole antenatel care given to pregnant women is nothing short of a disgrace!! (rant over!)

I have baby due in May... 2nd child.. getting nervious about all the hard work ahead....Got a free Avent bottle warmer... It is not that good... thankfuly I got if for free if I paid for it I would be well disappointed with wasting my money. You have to switch on/off at the mains when you are using it or not using it. It does not have a time so you have to do this yourself ....anyone got any easy ways to use the Avent bottle warmer... eg. does anyone just leave it plugged in?.. then just add the extra water when they need it.

That was AMAZING!!!!! My scan that is.
The baby was moving about, waving 2 arms and kicking 2 legs, all at 6cm!! It had a nose and belly and one head :D. Sooooo cute. I am officially in love.
The nuchal translucency came back with results in the many thousands, so no worries there.
They found a baby and they only found one, so am extremely happy.

AND there was no need for a full badder, AND they had a gel bottle warmer, so no shocking cold gel on belly
    They charged £2 per photo.

    OMG :T

Sorry, I am just gloating now, sorry.... :D

It must depend on where you live in the south east. My brother and SIL live in Whitstable, Kent. They get two scans and the nuchal downs scan is free on the NHS.

I'm in Co Durham, and I get two scans but was told I'd have to pay to go private for the nuchal one.
Here I go again on my own....

I read on another board that in Scotland you don't get the 20 week scan  We get a 12 week and a 20 week one plus more if you need them and if you've had problems then you get extra early ones too.
