Snaggles wrote:Becles, you CAN refuse the blood tests if you want, it's your body and your baby. I know you probably wont want to refuse them, because it IS a good idea to have them if possible, but somehow knowing I CAN refuse if I want to helps me get through them (I have difficult to find veins too). I've got to have mine done next Wednesday.....really looking forward to that! (not)
I know, but my iron levels normally wobble in and out the bottom range of "normal" so it's peace of mind knowing that I'm not going anaemic! I'm taking the Pregnacare vits and minerals though, so I have been fine so far.
I have refused the Downs ones and the HIV bloods, as I wouldn't abort if I was carrying a Downs baby so it seemed pointless having it, and I haven't put myself at risk of catching HIV so that one seemed pointless too.
Good luck for next Wednesday!
And congrats again to Dormouse :THere I go again on my own....0 -
I had my scan today, and saw the MW as well and had to tell her which blood tests I'll be having. I said no to Down's and Spina Bifida, but will have all the usual blood group/HIV/rubella/blood count etc, even though I had them 4 years ago when I was having DS and pretty much will know what the results are going to be.
Back then we weren't even offered the Down's tests (I was in a different part of the country though).
I'm so pleased to be able to post here instead of lurking0 -
Firstly congrats Dormouse!! (Before i forget)
I'm hoping this isn't just me, but being 26+3 wks on my third, just wanted to ask is it normal to forget so much? Honestly can't remember this happening on my last two!
With two not so little ones already my mind is normally quite sharp & pretty organised, but don't know what's happened over the last few days!!
Altogether today:
Left house door wide open when taking the children to school.(got home & thought someone had broken in)
Spent over an hour looking for car keys before going shopping only to find that i'd left them in the car.:o
Best one of all today & get ready for this one,
I forgot to walk!
Yes i'm still getting over the shock with a swollen ankle and two swollen toes. Don't know what the hell my brain was doing, but it just wouldn't/couldn't do two things at once!
I said hello to one of the mum's on the way to the school yard this afternoon, and i went down like a sack of spuds!I'm positive i didn't stumple!! She didn't even have a chance to say hello back, she just asked are you ok?
Quite a few of you are probably laughing, i've chuckled a few times tonight. (few times in agony)
Is this at all normal, i've heard how you can loose your balance slightly, but being this forgetful?:A

Lmao!
Yes Jo, it is perfectly normal to be so forgetful. I can't count the amount of times I've lost keys, shoes and jackets. I locked myself out of the house and have several times tried to load the fridge with dirty washing. Not sure about the forgetting to walk thing though! That's a new one on me!0 -

It doesn't get any better after they are born. My neighbour has been round twice in as many weeks to remind me that I really ought to shut my car door instead of leaving it wide open in the pouring rain! I also forgot to take my
LO for her first set of jabs not once but twice!! What kind of rubbish mum am I?? I used to be an admin manager able to juggle all sorts of tasks, but since kids my brain has turned to mush.0 -
Hello everyone,
Most of you are probly aware im a newbie here and wasnt thinking of posting til I was past the 1st couple of months or so BUT...... I need some advice,
****bit of a tmi post sorry****
I am only 5 weeks so havent registered with the midwife or anything yet, this morning after using the loo there was a pinky coloured blood on the t.roll (not loads) which was there each time but got less and paler each time, went about 20mins ago and its back but watery an pale pink. I know this isnt uncommon but I cant help thinking about it. Ive googled abit but ive read that much my brain is hurting lol.
Can implantation bleeding be pink or is that just brown? and I thought this only occured 10-14 days after ovulation/conception......(this is my 4th and never had ANY of this fuss before!!)
TIA

Hello,
I had terrible trouble sleeping when pregnant. I bought a v-shaped pillow from Dunelm Mills for under £8 complete with removable, washable cover. When experiencing discomfort, I lay with the pillow across my shoulder blades or between legs as appropriate. Now my Daughter has arrived (6 months old on saturday xx), it has proven invaluable for propping her during breastfeeding when she was younger & using as a supervised support pillow to encourage her to sit up. Hope this helps. xxNever-too-dizzy-too-learn

Hi all
Had my baby boy on the 31 jan 8lb 14oz
i had a hospital appointment when i was 3 days over and i went over by 10 days and went into labour the morning they were due to induce me.
During labour this midwife said we need to attatch a drip now so we can give you the antibiotics so i said what for and it turns out that at the hospital appointment they took blood and a swab and found that i had GBS !! group b streptococcus } but they had not let me know.I did not know what it was at the time and i have 3 other children but was not tested for it with them as it is not routinely done on the nhs.I had to stay in hospital for a extra day so they could monitor him.
Sorry if i have worried anyone that wasnt my intention but i just feel women should be aware of it and not find out like i didNumber 4 due 21st jan0
