  • Hello All.

I had my Bart test today - should only have taken about 5 minutes but I was in the hospital for nearly an hour and a half! Lady who I saw in the ANC couldn't find a vein so had to wait until blood test dept opened after lunch! Made me laugh reading about the grumpy midwife who complained that susancarters bladder was empty - when we went for first two scans (6 weeks and 10 weeks because of bleeding) the midwife lectured me for looking worried! :)

had my bloods at MW today; she couldnt do them so i was sent to hospital path lab, has taken up most of afternoon what a farce!

scans and full bladders, at my hosp they send you away if you have an empty bladder (aparently) but when i went to my private scan my bladder was empty and they say my baby just fine

I had a dream I had the baby. Don't remember the birth, but it was all very easy and they sent me home really quickly. Eventually I thought shouldn't I be breastfeeding? So we gave it a go, but there was no milk (my boobs are tender but not growing in real life) and the baby said (!) get me a bottle. So in a panic I started looking for a bottle - shouldn't it be sterilised? Then I was looking for a microwave to heat the milk, leaving the baby on his own, as he was playing with Lego and said he'd be fine! He looked about two!

    Bad mother dream?

    Anyone else?

  • I had loads of bad mother dreams, from dreaming i had responsibility for puppies and i couldn't look after them to leaving the baby in shops.

They went as soon as he got here.

So I've only just started then...

And you, of course you're not having dreams, I don't expect you've slept much... Must be wonderful having the litle one 'out', although I am thoroughly enjoying my remaining independence, as this is my first.

I had a nightmare with my first bloods as I've got poor veins. The midwife couldn't get them at my booking in appointment. Tried one arm - nothing. Looked at the other arm and bottled out of trying as she couldn't see or feel a vein! She said the hospital would get them instead.

So at the hospital after having 3 attempts in each arm and 2 attempts in the back of my hands, including me passing out in the middle of it all, ante-natal finally admitted defeat and sent me to the pathology lab.

One lady there had a good look at me and lost all her confidence, so she got an older lady who managed to get the required samples with a different type of needle. It was thinner with some rubber tubing attached to it, but I can't remember what it was called - might have been a butterfly?

Anyway came home from hosptial absolutely covered in bruises and plasters and feeling very sorry for myself!

I've got to give the next set on March 9th and I'm worried about it already :o

Becles, you poor thing... I've had blood taken countless times - my Mum likes to keep tabs on our health, and when we go to Poland you can have all the basic tests done for a tenner. I've never had a problem. But two weeks ago I went to a NHS professional (woman only does blood tests all day long) and I still have the bruise to show for it! Like I didn't have enough to worry about having just found out I was pregnant. What scared me most is that it didn't appear immediately (only small bruise), but some four hours later.

When you go in on the 9th, just ask to see the older lady, who knows what she's doing. That way you won't be put off forever.

In the meantime enjoy the sympathy :D

The ones on the 9th are just being done at the doctors, by the community midwife. My original midwife has gone on maternity leave, so I've got another one now, but she's really nice and I've already warned her about the veins. I have to have the anti-D jab in my bum cheek on the same day too.

I'm at the stage where I can't get comfortable at night now. I keep waking up with chest pains, because the baby is lying really high up. I'm shattered now. Still good practice at broken sleep for when (s)he arrives - lol!
