hi, i have just found out im 5 weeks pregnant and im very happy.....also nervous as its my 2nd pregnancy, 1st ended in MC in may this year..

have been told to ask my doctor for an early scan as round here dating scans arent till 14 weeks ish. has any1 any experience of pregnancy after MC, or getting an early scan?

Hi all

Thanks very much for your good wishes. We're all doing fine so far. Scar not too sore and DH a natural, really involved dad, so getting plenty of help and rest.

Just found time between feeds to start the MSE Parent Club. I hope it will be as valuable to parents as this thread has been to pregnant couples.

Congratulations.

As I had to have IVF we had numerous scans both before and after conception. The first one they did after I got pg was carried out around 6 weeks. It's an internal scan where they put an ultrasound probe into your vagina. It can be a little uncomfortable (depending on who does it, how relaxed you are etc), but it shouldn't be sore if that makes sense.

At 6 weeks we could see the gestational sac, and a heartbeat but nothing else that made sense to me! hth

Congratulations Emma! My friend has a miscarriage at the beginning of this year, she's now due to have her new baby in March. She went for a scan at about 7 weeks I seem to recall. As far as I'm aware she didn't have an internal one (she did have to drink 2 pints of water tho!). They gave her a picture to take home which just looked like a bean! From what she told me they check to make sure everything's fine and that the foetus has attached ok to give you reassurance or to find any problems early on.

Thanks for the info i will definately be asking at the doctors for an ealrier scan i had to wait till nearly 15 weeks last time and i had a blighted ovum that was only detected on the scan.
I had no preg symptoms last time though, didnt know till i was 7 weeks, and never felt "pregnant" something just didnt feel right.
this time, i have known since 3 days b4 i was due on and have felt sick as a dog and sooooo tired. im hoping these signs are positive signs that this pregnancy is difrent ?
we are very happy. got married 21st october 2006.......what a wedding present this is

Congratulations! It certainly sounds like things are going to be different this time.
